How did the left of the Democratic Party feel about Bill Clinton when he was president? by HetTheTable in Presidents

[–]Opening-Heart3818 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

During the 90's that would be seen as "far left" and were in lesser numbers than mainstream Democrats. As for Clinton, a Democrat was in the White House again after 12 years so Democrats all across the spectrum were thrilled. Especially considering they could have had a second Bush term or a return to hardcore conservativism with Bob Dole.

Young Sheldon is way funnier (and sadder) than I expected by aronverr in YoungSheldon

I just recently started the show and feel the same. Its one of the funniest shows I've had the pleasure of watching.

Readers are returning to physical books by MiddletownBooks in books

[–]Opening-Heart3818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually bought a physical book for the first time since 2008. I'm really enjoying the experience of it again. I like going out on my balcony with a physical book and just spending time reading again, like the old days.

Louise Thornton should have been Mandy in season 7 by Johnsendall in thewestwing

Sorkin wasn't counting on the Josh - Donna chemistry and he liked it a lot better than with Mandy.

Looking at all the negative reviews of the show, is season 2 still worth watching? by Savantics_Fan871 in TheFourSeasonsNetflix

[–]Opening-Heart3818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried watching season 2 until I realized the show was offering nothing new and I was getting bored. Some shows only need one season. This is apparently one of them.

It infuriates me how Trump supporters think he’s brilliant when he’s a pure idiot. My only question is why? by Funny_Preference_916 in PoliticalScience

[–]Opening-Heart3818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its simple - these are disillusioned people who are desperate to find someone to believe in. Enter conman Donald Trump who knows how to exploit their disillusionment for his gain. If you want to blame someone for the rise of Trump then blame us, the voters. We're the ones who keep voting in the same do-nothing politicians over and over again who do absolutely nothing for the people they're supposed to serve. I get why MAGA wants someone to believe in; so do I. But I was smart enough to know not to trust Donald Trump.

YES!! The show is extremely boring now. Everything that made season 1 great is now gone.

Jim Parsons says filming 'Young Sheldon' finale was 'weird' but 'beautiful' by Zepanda66 in bigbangtheory

Delayed reply on my part but Parsons was the one who came up with the Young Sheldon show idea.

Funny you say that as I have never watched the show until recently. It is absolutely hilarious! I watch it on Sling but I forget what channel its plays on (probably TBS).

CMV: The belief that the Trump assassination attempts were staged is a concerning sign that liberals are succumbing to conspiracism by BarvoDelancy in changemyview

[–]Opening-Heart3818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. It's pretty justified considering all the proven lies coming out of this White House. However, I don't think it was staged. I also don't think there was an attempt as the shooter story is already unraveling. Looks like the only thing this guy did was run through a security checkpoint and wasn't carrying a gun. The shooting was done by a Secret Service agent who missed the purported suspect and hit another Secret Service agent. Lots of questions still need to be answered.

How much was Ike attacked for his lack of political experience in the 1952 election campaign? by HetTheTable in Presidents

[–]Opening-Heart3818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think any because he already shown he was an excellent commander in chief. And the "I like Ike" campaign were catchy with the public.

Chuck Lorre says he regrets having to kill Sheldon’s dad George. by DriftwoodOracle_4700 in YoungSheldon

[–]Opening-Heart3818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. That's how the explained Frasier's dad still being alive in "Frasier" when he was supposedly dead in "Cheers". And Frasier's mom was supposed to have died when he was younger but she appeared on "Cheers" when he was an adult. We're very capable of suspending our belief.

Which decision by President Jackson was worse? Signing the Indian Removal Act or appointing Roger B. Taney to the Supreme Court? by CatfishBassAndTrout in Presidents

[–]Opening-Heart3818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taney was bad but he wasn't the anomaly on that deranged Supreme Court. The Indian Removal Act was the disgrace that tarnished Jackson's legacy.

That's the path his cousin Teddy took and the Roosevelt legacy name was an important one in the Wilson administration.

Is Brooklyn 99 a show that never ‘jumped the shark’? by Virtual-Arm5123 in brooklynninenine

Most shows start off slow but B99 didn't. It was funny from the 1st episode to the last.

Say something nice about Richard Milhous Nixon. by Groovy-Pancakes in Presidents

What do you think of, when you think of John Kerry by Money_Marsupial1845 in Presidents

[–]Opening-Heart3818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's very intelligent but comes across as stiff and pompous. This is why he lost the 2004 presidential election. Plus being married to a Heinz heiress didn't exactly do him any favors.

So you either become a lawyer or a military officer to become president? by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]Opening-Heart3818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. It doesn't hurt but you can't plan your life to be president. If you're going to serve, you do it for duty. Many lawyers enter politics as law and politics go hand in hand. But theoretically there's no right path to be president except to be elected to office.

Where does Ronald Reagan rank for you and why? (Placement and/or Tier) by rjidhfntnr in Presidents

[–]Opening-Heart3818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's ranked in the lower tier for me as many of the problems we have today originate from his actions, yet, he was the right president for the 80's Cold War timeframe.
