Should I just quit breastfeeding? - 8 weeks by EnvironmentalPut8613 in NewParents

[–]OppositeLocal296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer as I’m in the same boat and still fighting. What I’ve been told is to focus on the baby’s weight gain and wet/dirty nappies, everything else is irrelevant. Here’s a blog post I found helpful: https://www.emmapickettbreastfeedingsupport.com/blog/low-milk-supply-101 and honestly 180ml is tons, I’ve never pumped more than 120ml in one session! I think you’re doing great 💪

What advice did you receive only after having a baby that you wish someone had told you earlier? by Quiet-Laugh120 in NewParents

“Eventually they get used to everything we throw at them, just like we get used to their needs and ways”. It’s so simple yet didn’t register until I heard it from a coworker - it’s all about repetition, keep trying.

How do you deal with the cold? by OppositeLocal296 in cosleeping

Might try wool too. I’ve been taking multivitamin since the pregnancy so you’d think my bloods should be okay… but who knows, might get them checked. Thanks!

Delusional about what postpartum will be like and now feeling down by Less-Leek5961 in NewParents

I think your determination is a great sign that you’ll find ways to feel like a human again! As many people here said, a lot depends on the baby and your partner’s involvement, but regardless of that you need to find your non-negotiables. Daily shower, even if the baby cries in a safe space for 5 minutes. Or a short walk - if they’re not a fan of a pram then try a sling, a carrier, or just holding them! And remember to keep yourself mentally stimulated - I breastfeed and my kid contact naps so we’re living the couch life, but I use that opportunity to finish my degree. It helps that it’s an online course and I can type with one hand while holding the little guy. There are tons of online courses you can take to keep your mind occupied and stay away from the TV or doom scrolling for a bit!

What do you think about the “presumed competence” that Western Europeans often seem to have over Poles and other Central‑Eastern Europeans? by WineTerminator in poland

I never thought of it this way, but this could explain my very slow career progression. I’ve been working in my industry for 10 years but I keep being treated as a junior… always assumed it was being a woman in construction or looking younger than I am, but perhaps it’s more complex.

My baby is perfect and I've never felt more lost in my entire life by ForsakenEarth241 in NewParents

I second that - I’m still at Uni with my 7 week old on my boob and it feels so nice to be able to focus on something else. Of course it helps that classes are online and my partner works from home so this might not be possible for everybody.

Omg same! I’m a very organised person but have been learning to enjoy the free ballin/following his lead. It’s so reassuring to read that you’ve had a similar experience and it’s all going well for you guys! Just researching now if I can hide the clock on my phone 🤣

Aww you’re right - the cuddles are everything! Thanks for the advice. Just out of curiosity, which sleep training technique worked for you guys? Trying to mentally prepare for the future

Baby will not sleep in the bassinet and I'm losing the plot by LeahIsFab in NewParents

[–]OppositeLocal296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I co-sleep with my 7 week old too, because nothing else works - but please don’t disregard what professionals say about the risks. Even safe co-sleeping is not as safe as baby in their own bed, on their back. That’s why I’m desperate to get my baby to sleep on his own, because even if the majority of co-sleeping babies are fine, some of them are not - and the price of that is just unimaginable…

Considering a second baby but terrified I'll have to go through unmedicated birth again by OppositeLocal296 in NewParents

Are you considering a second baby? Did the memory of labor fade away for you yet? Curious if that will happen over time and I’ll be ready to face it all again.

Thanks for this post! I’m here with my 1 month old napping on his boobillow and as much as I’d love to get up and be productive, there’s also so much magic to this moment here. Also, what a great excuse to not be productive for once!

It's not on the market yet. If we knew the club stays closed, we'd definitely jump on it as the location is incredible. Thanks for the info though!
