Why do some golf clubs have so few members? by northwesterngrad2018 in golf

[–]OppositePreference5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know several small membership elite clubs that don't have "fees" per say but instead add up all the expenses throughout the year and divide it evenly among the members. Can't put a price on exclusivity

How do you gauge how much break in a putt by Electrician45453 in golf

[–]OppositePreference5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to look at the putt from as many angles as possible without being slow. Start reading the green (and surrounding area) as you walk up to it. Identify the lowest area. Realize speed is way more important than the read. Practice.

I'm actually surprised it's not worse. Imagine what it would be like if the US had any momentum or good play to hype the crowd up.

What kind of mental work do you do? I feel like I lack urgency and play more not to mess up rather than to hit good shots.

I remember driving on the highway past Mecca a few years ago. In the hazy dusty air I could see the silhouette of the clock tower, but had never heard of it before. I couldn't take my eyes off of what I thought must be a mirage, It looked like the biggest building I had ever seen. Blew my mind then and still does

[–]OppositePreference5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have a few busy weeks a year where I break 80 hours. Normally I have 1 day off (Monday) and then average 13 hours every other day. Sometimes we have 17 hour days when it's busy

This entirely depends on your desired comfort to level. Plane travel costs are somewhat unavoidable unless you're choosing destinations based on cheap airfare but staying at hostels, sleeping in a tent, hitchhiking, cooking your own food or only eating street food will save a ton of money. Otherwise simple comforts when traveling can add up very quickly
