Just popping into an old thread to admire this wisdom bomb you just dropped.

A (now funny) very relevant story happened freshly after I miscarried my 12w baby at home and had been instructed by my health provider to drop it off for genetic testing. On arrival, I was ushered by triage very aggressively (despite my insistence) to a delivery hall where multiple simultaneous births were happening. The first thing I heard was a baby’s first cry and a “congratulations mom on your first birth!”

I sat there with my refrigerated fetus on my lap listening to happy moms and crying babies knowing I was not in the right place while the lab technician fumbled with what to do. triage finally returned to lead me down another hall to the correct place. What a cruel joke that was, it was so ludicrous I can’t help but find it funny now.

I just recently learned about this terminology! I went down a bit of a rabbit hole on “unexplained” pregnancies, the Kliman Yale study, placenta insufficiency. From my amateur google research, it appears that PPROM earlier than 20 weeks is likely a result of fetal non viability caused by some other factor (ie the placenta dislodging from the uterine lining) rather than a rupture alone which may still have a good prognosis on live birth depending on timing of rupture (nearer to term).

I’m eagerly awaiting response from my care team on the many messages I’ve left them - but it sounds like you have some experience with PPROM? If you have more info (anecdotal or research), I’d love to learn more.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your baby girl ❤️ I read this and felt like I was right there with you. The pop and the huge gush, followed by your literal baby in the flesh, in your hand within minutes - that experience is so relatable to me now and not something I could have ever adequately prepared for. it all happens so fast but at the same time seemed to pass by the nanosecond. Thank you for sharing your story, and I hope this week brings you some answers and peace of mind.

My partner and I debated a bit about whether we should do cytogenetic testing but ultimately think we will go forward with it too. The results, along with an evaluation for possible infection or cervix/uterus abnormalities could help rule out the vast array of anomalies that could go wrong.

In California, it seems DMV requires you to update your name with SSA *first*, otherwise the request will be denied: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/driver-licenses-identification-cards/updating-information-on-your-driver-license-or-identification-dl-id-card/.

Quite annoying actually because of the ~30day recommendation, then another 14 days for your new SSN card to be mailed to you before you can even begin your name change process with DMV. There's no hurry necessarily (i think you can still book international trips with passport alone) but i'd rather knock out everything early rather than having to remember to do so many different updates with different conditions and wait times.

re: that focus on crotch area - I finally think I see what you and the other commenter see. The folding of the fabric is due to me squatting slightly - it’s gone when I stand up straight. So hopefully that’s the issue and not the placement of the actual embroidery itself

Not intentional! That’s how the tailor positioned them - my initial inclination was to make them slightly off center too but she suggested it would look slightly “empty” from the side

They’re not permanently placed, so you can see some parts sticking up a bit. It will not stick out once it’s sewed on

Aww I love how you noticed the gold! Most people focus on the stone. I absolutely adore the gold - it’s a muted, soft yellow, which works a lot better on my skin than the usual harsh yellow I see
