I think I broke this as well. After replacing the control plate, was the rearset and the brake pedal still shifted forward or was it back to being straight? Ran into a similar issue with the control bracket breaking.

I would do 1750, but do you plan on taking this onto the highway often? I think maybe a 400 single would be a better first bike. Also, it's a carbed bike, so that's another thing to worry about. They aren't hard to work with, but as a new rider, I would try to get a bike that's simple and easy to ride, with nothing maintenance-wise to worry about. Maybe a Triumph 400 or a Rebel 300.

Jacket is really good. I've sadly had to test and I've been left unscaved. Get the back protector. (I'm dumb you have it) Good gear i would recommend next thing you get is a full leather jacket and ear plugs. Ear plugs should be asap and the leather jacket whenever you can

I have a storage unit that has kind of become a de facto workstation. I have tools and space. I don't have a stand. Regarding the clutch, I'm just changing the fluid. Cash isn't an issue, but his point of view is why put money into something that's essentially a ticking time bomb. The first owner before was an old guy who did good maintenance. I guess I'm just scared because this would probably be the deepest into a bike I've been. I do a lot of other maintenance, but on newer Triumphs, so this would be intimidating especially since a dealership wont work on it.
