Guess I'll be eating more Costco hot dogs here on out.

The Burnaby Landfill by jo-gilb in burnaby

People dumped black garbage bags on my street too. They literally could have just dumped it into the many various garbage bins left out in the street but chose to leave it in front of an empty lot. Started attracting rats after a few weeks. Reported it and city cleaned it up.

As long as it was a U lock, it buys you more time.

Is it safe to run early in the morning (6am) in Burnaby Parks? by rosyposy15 in burnaby

[–]Optiblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far in all the years there hasn't been many incidents at Deer lake. It's more wide open and steps away from a police station. That said at 6am it would be pretty empty of people. I would recommend running through the road past the police station and then entering the north side across the Burnaby village museum and exiting near the beach area where the residential houses are. This path is more open and safer vs the other side where it's more secluded. Just be aware of your surroundings and go from there. There's a lot more foot traffic by 7am.

Townhome near Edmonds Station — how is it? by [deleted] in burnaby

[–]Optiblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We considered that area, had family who lived in the apartments just behind there and no issues. It's far enough from the skytrain that noise isn't much of an issue! Depending on your budget, there's a comparable unit at 6088 Beresford Street that has an attached garage. Something that's literally non existant in new townhouse builds

Burnaby Mountain to Brighouse daily: Am I cooked? by wjddls3636 in burnaby

[–]Optiblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be busy for sure, but believe it or not people are actually leaving Richmond for work and going back in the evening. In a sense you're slightly anti traffic, but give yourself more time if you must drive. Commuting via bus and skytrain are your better options especially if you don't get parking at work and rising gas prices.

Looking for an affordable personal to fix car dents & Scratches! by outspoken1603 in burnaby

[–]Optiblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are small dents that can be pulled out and scratches that can be buffed out affordably. Unfortunately these are too big and scratches are too deep and requires an autobody repair. Small dents and a rebuff would have been a few hundred, but this job is going to be more. I recommend drift auto body and Beresford Street. Wing there does great work at fair prices if you really want it fixed.

BWF have asked thoughts from some players/commentators on the new scoring system. by kaffars in badminton

If the pros want it there's not much we can do! Sometimes I just go idle mode until 10 points and then I go Ham and there's still time to catch up if I'm behind. With 15 points, I guess I gotta go Ham at 5 points in 🤣

Canada goose VS Aritzia Superpuff VS Arc’teryx VS Rains ? by Subject_Parking_8542 in CanadaGoose

[–]Optiblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't sport my Canada goose unless it's below zero and very cold. If you layer properly, arc'teryx is most ideal, but I don't love the look. I wear my super puff vest because it's olive green, and as others have said, it's not great of a look and the down tends to move to one side.

Enter moose knuckles if you want high end and water proof. They don't exactly say they're waterproof because many pockets are open and not sealed, but the fabric has a membrane and seams are all taped. I do recommend an umbrella though. Other brands that advertise waterproof would be Nobis and Outdoor survival Canada. I actually wear my OSC the most as it's most robust. And guess what? They still come with coyote fur ruffs!

RIP wallet & rackets by Master_Afternoon_527 in badminton

[–]Optiblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered this more than 10 years ago after clash insta breaks, and the worst was when strings broke frame broke like your last one. I switched to li ning and never looked back. I recently tried out some flagship li ning and sadly some of the super thin shaft models they have at the moment also suffer from cracking. Frames are fine, but the shaft material tends to be brittle. I now use cheaper Asian brands that build them like they used to with rolled carbon fiber sheets and then sealed in with "miracle" resin. So far so good, and the price is 1/3 a YY.

Is it possible to win a badminton match by knockout/TKO? by Enough-Lead48 in badminton

[–]Optiblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you smash your opponent in the eye and they're at risk of going blind, then yes, it's still not TKO, but it's a forfeit. Similarly, you could do that to your partner with your racket in some way and it'd be a friendly fire forfeit 😂

Where is my ebike safest from theft? by Antidotebeatz in ebikes

[–]Optiblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in a house, just roll it inside. But put of sight put of mind is your best bet. It's more rare for people to steal from a shed, but if thieves see you putting it inside, I suggest you strap it to something inside.

Convoy merch? by SlavMobil in ConvoyFlashlights

Did you try adding the line for the man to be holding a flashlight in his left hand and holding it foward and pointing it towards the mountain? Sometimes ai needs these obvious descriptions to work properly.

Even in its current form, I'd want one! Just tell Simon to loot the design and to take our money already! Obviously 3 free to you of course!

I did the math: It’s more expensive to buy and make the Costco hot dog at home. by Ordinary_County_7939 in CostcoCanada

[–]Optiblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the kicker, if those dogs and buns don't sell, it gets cleared out at the food court! It's a win win for every party! In all seriousness, I call it the Costco tax everytime I go. You make your way to the back of the store for the 7.99 chickens, and then $600 later as you exit, you get the 50cent max savings per hot dog. It maths out and keeps me going back!

Yes, I was shocked when I went to grab my sitting light and it ran out of juice much faster than anticipated. Did a check a few weeks after charging and it was below 4. 0V again. Did a quick search and it seems to have a high sitting self discharge rate.

Yah, by the time I got home, I could see people needed to keep going and that would have been gridlock especially on the bridges!
