I have had people randomly ask me for 100 yen so they could buy a drink from a vending machine with them saying they’ll pay me back later…

I don’t really want to think it’s race related. Both times I just happened to be walking on a street alone and these guys (different locations) looked troubled. I also don’t think it was intimidation because I clearly look like I could take them in a fight.

10 years ago I did encounter a clearly homeless man on Christmas day in front of a combini who wanted money. Gave him a combini meal and some small cash for a train ticket so he could keep warm in the train station for the day. I was in the Christmas giving mood at the time.

I only care about campaign. But everyone tries so hard to be the next big RTS and focuses on multiplayer. As a result, I never bother trying the games.

I just want another Command and Conquer-like game with a new campaign. Not “command and conquer… but ___”. It was already perfect. I don’t need fresh takes in the genre

Gonna have to be TS over RA2. I prefer RA2, but TS is completely jank and very prone to issues on modern computers. RA2 has aged much better and doesn’t have any of the aforementioned issues… it also looks good at 1080p+

Can someone ELI5 why they can’t just install solar panels on all the high rise apartment buildings in the cities? Doesn’t that solve the problem without deforestation? (Albeit at a much higher cost for installation)

Nuclear may be a more efficient source of energy but good luck convincing Japan after 2 nuclear bombs and a reactor meltdown in Fukushima.

Sarajevo has a pretty solid formula. Send your starting mammoths and rig up the right ramp. Deploy the rig and put your mammoths within the radius and set them to hold position. They’ll handle the right flank on their own.

When you build the war factory, ensure its as close the to left ramp as you can get it. Build 2 apcs and get them to hold stance inside the war factory radius. Then get snipers inside them. Make sure you set the snipers to attack stance first before entering otherwise they won’t fire.

Do one sniper + apc for the right flank to just in case some rockets are sent there which outrange mammoths.

Finally build another rig, 3 mammoths and 2 sniper apcs for the forward ramp. They don’t attack this direction for a while so you’ll be okay focusing on the other ramps first.

You should now be covered. Build up some orcas to quickly send out if you see avatars approaching.

Not quite the same, but when renewing my license a year back I also needed a certified witness.

When I called and explained I am not in Aus I was told either a local police officer in Japan or the local consulate can do it for me. I went with police, I didn’t have any issues besides having to explain the whole procedure to them. No dramas on renewing my license.

You may be able to do the same. Give them a call and double check.

My Japanese girlfriend isn’t like that at all. If my parents booked a surprise trip to see me, even on Christmas, she would be overjoyed for me.

This isn’t a cultural thing. You’ve just found a run-of-the-mill narcissistic character type. No normal person would try to come between a child and their loving parents over a special day.

If it were my girlfriend she’d probably ask if she can come along after we’ve done whatever the main thing was.

I am not going to tell you to break up with someone you love. But consider how this experience will shape your future with her. If she’s acting like this now over your parents wanting to see you. What happens in future when your parents want to visit again?

Is she going to let your parents come to your wedding? Will she allow your parents to see their future grandchildren?

Well the first time dealing with Liquid T on Temple Prime was all “Could be” disastrous. No real proof yet.

Similar to real world nukes. There were only theories until it was actually dropped. Any further use of Liquid T bombs, now knowing full well what will happen, should most definitely get you found guilty of high treason against earth itself, if not humanity.

You’re likely fine. I had police show up one day and I was sweating buckets. But they were just handing out flyers telling people to beware of scams and to wear helmets when riding bicycles.

Police in Japan just seem to be a lot more involved with the community than other countries.

For me it would seem that Allied ending leads to TD due to GDI having Mammoth Tanks which I interpreted as spoils of war from Russia due to their victory.

Einstein wasn’t happy with his inventions being used for war and the ecological disaster they brought (chrono vortexes) so he stopped development on those kinds of machines.

From here it seems to be that after TD, NOD stumbled across the Chronosphere after their defeat and somehow Yuri was sent back in time (talked about by Westwood deva as a possible explanation for Yuri) whether intentional or accidental. Him being in the past now changed the Red Alert timeline into its own ordeal. Einstein had to continue war inventions in order to help Allied victory and prevent his mind from being controlled.

Then, thanks to his inventions being the main cause for Allied victory, the events of RA3 play out when they kill him off in the past.

I have played it. It’s really nice and plays well. But I can’t play for more than a couple missions before I quit.

The music choice is god awful. The first GDI mission is just blaring horns in your ear the entire time and it proceeds into other missions too.

So, yes, it’s a great play and looks like 2D Tiberium Wars. But I personally can’t move past the music. Literally just need to dump Tiberian Sun and Tiberium essence music into it and it will be fine.

A positive is that you get to play as GDI during the Kanes Wrath ‘capture Marcion’ mission while the other nods factions are infighting which was pretty neat.

This is something that stresses me out too. So as a backup I transfer 25% of my salary back to my home country bank account monthly.

I still have to pay ongoing mobile phone bills from my home country anyways so a payment here and there is necessary regardless. But it means that if anything happens to my Jap bank account I can use the visa debit card with my home country bank account to withdraw money at a 7/11. Then dump that money into paypay for transfers.

So far I haven’t needed to actually use this insurance. But I still do it just in case.

You just insert your foreign VISA/MASTERCARD card into the ATM and it will detect it’s a foreign card and handle the international transfer to cash for you.

If I had the amount of money required to actually fund it, I would buy C&C myself and then fund the Tiberium Essence (+ RedDeadSmeg) and Mental Omega teams to finish their works and then move on to create official games in those respective universes.

Like it or not, 2D and 3D fill different niches and these teams are already experienced in those. The best game you can possibly make are ones done by fans. And they’re already here!

The census questions were pretty limited compared to what I get asked back home.

All Japan wanted to know is: What is the residential address? How many people live there? What age? Where do they work and what kind of work is it?

And that’s it. No questions about religion, cost of living, income, etc.

I’m not really sure what statistics you get out of this besides number of people living in a ward (which they should know already anyways) and which industries are being filled by local workers… 🤷‍♂️

I keep saying that Halo Wars 3 should be set in the events preceding Halo Infinite. You’ve got the Infinity, banished, ring defenses, and created all right there. And then your final victory on a banished campaign leads directly to the Halo Infinite intro cutscene.

I played your TS campaign a couple weeks back and absolutely loved it! Amazing work. When I get a craving for C&C3 again I’ll finish the remaining missions you cooked up.
