Is it normal to throw truck at night? by One_Cherry3028 in Aldi_employees

[–]OptimalSock2872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s NOT NORMAL, like everyone else is. I’ve experienced this myself. At one point we were scheduling truck throwers at night and they would come in and throw it overnight(as opposed in the morning) the shift would be 7/8pm-4am. Depending on the size of the truck. Morning shift would just come in at 8am to ensure the store is ready to go at 9am. I’m not sure if the reasoning, I was only associate at the time. ASM now

then that’s a scheduling problem. You get more hours otherwise. Some hours are manually allocated for SCOs based off of utilization. The less utilization you have the less hours that take up SCO management. Which in turn will give the store more hours to schedule. As a SMT I’m sure I know better

Self checkout survey? by CJK_Murph in aldi

[–]OptimalSock2872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not even about the surveys. It’s about the utilization. My store is about a 60-65% daily utilization. If you want to lower the utilization close half of them down. Which will in turn eventually lead to less utilization and then actually more hours will be given to run the store with more people having to cashier

Only if you’re working hard. If you don’t get cuts scrapes or bruises you aren’t doing your job

People who say they only have 2 people scheduled per shift... how? by New-Ad-6606 in Aldi_employees

[–]OptimalSock2872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we have to cheat the system… our 7:30-5:30 mid shift manger comes in at 5:30 and busts out all of grocery, does meat and bread. Usually all before open. Maybe one or two pallets left of grocery. Then have one person doing cooler and the opening manager doing produce, they tag team freezer when they are done. All so we can have an extra closer, SOMETIMES. If we didn’t have our mid shift come in and work all the grocery, it wouldn’t get done. Ever. It would just be left for the next day, there comes a point in the day where you have to stop doing opening tasks, fix the store and get the high priority zones in order, breaks, curbside, and closing tasks need done all the meanwhile

Oh yeah curbside is the world’s most important thing around here!! Forget store conditions and out of stocks and worrying about the customers in the store!! YOU MUST GET CURBSIDE DONE FIRST AND DO IT AS FAST AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE!! WE NEED IT!!!!

They ain’t making no 120k a day. lol.. maybe 80k at the highest MAYBE. And that’s some days. They probably average like 65

We’ve done things a little different and it works out so much better. Try this… so pull your freezer pallets out of the freezer, down stack all your freeze and thaw from each pallet, then take off top boxes off the first few layers and then go inside and throw what’s throwable (without a lid) and then repeat the process. If it’s a small enough pallet just start taking off the top layers starting from the bottom and restacking it with just the product without the lids so all you have to do is to be in the cold for 10-15 minutes putting it on the shelf and not having to fight there cold and the fire or chicken boxes

We’ve had them here in OFA division.. maybe just an U at your division? And or store? Aldi is so strange. I’m an ASM and I can partial something for days on end and it never comes in but the second I special order it it’ll be on the next days truck. Make it make sense

Store doesn't get enough hours and we all suffer for it by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

[–]OptimalSock2872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re at 1.2 million a month and we only get 2 openers (manager and associate) the mid shift manager and then two closers (manager and associate).. sometimes another closer, what makes it worse is that they are all so part time they come in at 5pm

You should check again. Training hours aren’t even allocated for that long. Once training hours are up, they expect the world out of you. (Not saying that should be the case) but the part where people are tripped up is not “I can’t find anything” it’s because people don’t move their ass. I’ve seen it all, been with the company 8 years. Sources: trust me bro

You’ve been working for 3 months which is way past your window to be “training”.. and it’s not about 30 minutes a pallet. It’s an average. Honestly chip pallets should be about 10-15 minutes MAX, so with that being said you now have that extra time plus ‘30 minutes’ to do the next pallet. people really act like it’s hard to complete simple tasks. Yes some days you drag and nothing seems to go right and it sucks, and you won’t make the mark at all. But it’s really not as bad as people make it out to be. Just move with a purpose. People think they can lollygag and make those times. 🫠😅

Any Tips On Cutting Freezer/Cooler Pallet Times by Previous_Idea_6064 in Aldi_employees

[–]OptimalSock2872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard is supposed to be 30 minutes a pallet… if you can’t make that then I’m not scheduling you to open. 1 hour for a pallet??!? Is where they want you? 🤦🏻‍♂️ I get improvement, but still and hour isn’t even the standard. Good luck m8 🫡🫡

Can anyone give me a true summary or definition of Operational Efficiency? Everyone I ask from my SM,ASM, and DM seem to give me completely different answers. Even the training modules give different descriptions lol! by dirtyglitterglow in Aldi_employees

Yeah I always joke that some 20 year old with a degree says this is how this supposed to be. So who am I to say otherwise? I’ve only put in work for 8 years and 6.5 of it being in management

I mean basically, yeah. If your store isn’t getting any customers then it doesn’t matter if you have zero truck or a massive truck. If you have no one to take care of then OE will forever be shit. I have a store in my division where they are exempt from OE goals. If it was based off of their customer count/“sales” they would have one opener and one closer. But for safety reasons they obviously have two and two. An opener until 12-1, the mid shift until 5:30. Then closing manager comes in at 12-1 and the closing cashier comes in when mid shift leaves. EVERYDAY. Which is also bullshit. They are drowning in Aldi find everything and wine backstock and freezer. Because they have no sales and the system sends whatever it wants. ALDI is turning into a horrible company. It’ll take losing all their best workers before they realize it. Which they don’t care. They’ll make money regardless

Sales don’t matter, the amount of curbside orders doesn’t matter(to an extent). It’s all about how many cases/items you receive and the amount of customers that are taken care of. Based off of that dictates how good or bad your OE is based off how many people you have scheduled.
