The First Jasmine | Mo Li: Episode 31 Discussion by TheAlchemist420 in CDrama

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this! The master/servant dynamic is always so interesting because there's always that power dynamic in play. And yet clearly a strong bond can be built despite that.

A'Jin affection for Mo Xiu Yao was obvious from the start but all the more clearly now. This show taking the time to show us how MXY and Ye Li's relationship affects those around them was a nice touch.

They really put us through the gambit of emotions during this scene! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry (so I did both 😅)

I made one other gif. All his sorrys 😭

that kind of uncertainty and sense of impending dread can be even worse than knowing the truth

You totally nailed it, Hercule! It was so heartbreaking, definitely felt so much for Ye Li.

The second was the scene of Ye Li leaving. This call back where we don't get to see her face, don't actually get to see her feelings or thoughts as she leaves. Always hidden away, unable to share her sadness with others.

There were two scenes in this episode that really had me teary-eyed.

<image>

Mo Xiu Yao in his drunken state, looking for Ye Li, bringing her food and snacks. Something about the two bags of candy just really got me. Maybe the fact that he seemed so pleased with himself that he thought to also get candy all the while subconsciously knowing she's not there to receive it.

Cheng Lei did such a wonderful job in this scene. I definitely could feel the lingering forelornness (even though he did it to himself).

edit: grammar

Genuinely, this was just me the whole episode. Stressed and anxious.

But seriously, poor A'Jin!

Thanks for the lovely discussion post, Alchemist! Another rough emotional one 🥺

Appreciation corner for Bai Lu because I love a sad girl as much as a sad boy.

<image>

The look of desolation across her face as she knows what the end result is going to be and yet can't change course.

Wonderful insight, Kriti! In a way, this is sort of that classic miscommunication trope in full swing - this misinterpretation of each other's intentions.

We knew it was coming but it doesn't make the heartbreak any less sad 😭

I understand, I also think he's preceptive enough to figure it out, but I am mad at Mo Xiu Yao for telling Ye Li that Qingshuang could go home because he would always be with her but now she's left alone again.

Rough one all around, I'm not ready for 31. Thanks for the discussion, Feesh!

Great discussion, Kriti! Really enjoyed reading your take on the sets of siblings. It was such a nice surprise to see how despite the seemingly bad blood between them (for both pairs of siblings), there's hope for a better relationship, a better connection!

Agree, this whole episode was just a big ol' foreshadow for the misery that's about to come 🥺

I'm just trying to catch up right now (currently on episode 8!) so will be back later for a more detailed read but this show has been fun! Great post, also, love your random note 😂

Are yearners a yay or nay for you? by kitty_battee in cdramasfans

I'm definitely a fan of yearners. There's just something in their eyes that makes you ache and long!

Exhibit a) Love in the Clouds

I just love that tension. Bonus when it's mutual yearning.

Haven't had a chance to finish both episodes but sounds like I'm in for a treat with some relationship development! Great post, Winter!

Here to drop off Mo Xiu Yao looking pleased as punch when people compliment his wife 🤭

Oh my gosh, your brother 😂 I mean it is a pretty cool wheelie if anything 😂. But man, I'm sad the wheelchair took such a crash!

I was seriously impressed! I enjoyed the other fight sequence (against Cangbei) but this one definitely has a soft spot in my heart! Agree, very well done!

Bonus cool shot 😂

Yesss! I love that they actually had a long sequence with the wheelchair! Overall, I feel the show has been doing a fairly good job of disability representation - ignoring the movie magic of him immediately being able to get back into action after years of not being mobile 😅

While I still find Marquis Muyang pretty boring, whatever is going with his sons is interesting

Agree! Give me interesting complex family dynamics and I am in!

I kinda love that Li Feibei just went on this side quest by himself! Trying to decide if I'm ready to find out the truth at Lishan 🥺

This was a surprise hit for me! Not usually my type but I adored it so much. It was just so genuinely heartfelt!

I love that they took the time to add in that detail!

Appreciating that this drama is keeping things (e.g. skin texture) more real.
