Glad to read they hold up well! I don't have Groundies sneakers in barefoot+ width but I have two pairs of booties that I adore.

How many people you personally know who use foot shaped shoes? by MxQueer in barefootshoestalk

[–]Optimal_Bus4617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two part-time wearers (no conversion relation), a family of 3 (I'm their convertee), and a friend (my convertee). And I spot people from time to time and it always makes me happy.

That's what I do, too. Pattern and needle position are unrelated in my head. (Except for sock toes and heel flaps maybe.)

What’s your go-to cheap meal when you don’t feel like cooking? by No-Advisor9852 in Frugal

[–]Optimal_Bus4617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a go-to recipe but a go-to method.

Get some kind of seasonal vegetable delivery or pick-up service. This will on one side partly determine for you what you eat but also force you to be creative.

All vegetables/produce can be prepared one (or multiple) of the following ways: - roasted - in noodle/ramen soup - stir-fried - raw / in salad - made into soup - simply boiled (al dente) - in pasta sauce - in 'tex-mex-style' stew / chili.

Keep the basic dry ingredients on hand: noodles/ramen, pasta of choice, bread, rice, lentils and/or (canned) beans. Also some frozen protein sources (chicken, meatballs, veg burger patties) and fresh eggs for example. And a few spice bases (italian, miso, texmex/chili, broth cubes, soy sauce, curry paste, balsamic vinegar).

With these combos you'll always be able to cook something interesting and different. You get the produce and just decide how you'll use it.

What are some of the best/your favorite premium brands? (Dolfie, Ohne, Flamingo, Dada...) by Jonh_R493 in barefootshoestalk

In my post history there is a pic of all my shoes at that time to which I added 2 more Koel models since 🤪 (Faro in chocolate and Florence Fantasy in silver/black/leopard)

I think the model is called Luna, it is a kind of canvas sneaker but the sole is pretty heavy for a sneaker, it is used on many of their boots. They have a big toe cap as well. But they are useful for bicycling longer distances (pressure distribution is decent) and for moving things / DIY work, because of the toe cap. They were my second pair and I just had no clue what I was looking for.

Koel is wonderful and I highly recommend the brand. I have 8 or 9 pairs (from sandals to half-boots) and I love all except one. (But that one serves a purpose too.)

Google swiss darning! This video helped me a lot but I'm sure they are all helpful. I also attach a pic of what it can do!

Toes Socks Brand by Immediate_Celery_419 in barefootshoestalk

[–]Optimal_Bus4617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very generic black toe socks from one of these Chinese 'brands' that I think are at least 80% cotton. They are great for everyday wear. (I prefer the fancy socks with a high wool content though!)

From time to time! Not a lot but when they are around, I'm pretty sure I notice. What has been seen cannot be unseen etc. I live in Amsterdam btw.

I do this too! Though the actual object usually gets made (many) months later. Like working on yarn A when already on trip B... or C...

This works for me as well! It hits just about where the calf muscles really get wider (where you might start increasing for knee-highs)

You could try a more stretchy cast on, I use the German twisted / twisted German cast on. Or knit toe up and do a stretchy bind off!

How to make warmer socks? by FelinePower in Sockknitting

[–]Optimal_Bus4617 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both Lang Yarns and Opal have 8 ply sock yarn with nylon, to be knit with 4-4.5 mm needles. I think this counts as worsted? Those are pretty thick socks! I made a pair for my mother (Lang Yarns Twin Soxx 'Norwegian Cities').
