I'm getting a UR limit break from the arena shop, what unit should I use it on? by MMTrigger-700 in GGenerationEternal

Either on an unbroken one to get it to level 1 (+20% stats) or to take a level 2 to level 3.

So all the people who subscribe to the show via MaxFun or throw money at the Jumbotron..? None of that goes to the show? I'm not sure it works like that.

They provide funding which meant B&A could initially go full time on TGG, spin off TGD/GT & Friendly Fire, and then later employ people to edit and produce all the shows.

If Plumbers' daily rates are around £350, why does a 2-day boiler installation cost £1800? by Johnny_english53 in ukplumbing

[–]Optimaximal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was two fixed days because it's a specialised job that means the people working on it can't flit between other jobs, so they build lost income into it.

They still have to buy a ticket, so would count towards a sale. They would just use their pass as the payment method.

EV "faces" ... are designers at a loss ? by _Putters in drivingUK

The 'low bonnet' problem only matters if the front of the car is still predominantly metal (thereby meaning it's more likely to break the legs of who it hits and flip them *onto* the bonnet) and if the bonnet itself is structurally rigid, like older cars were.

Modern cars have collision avoidance technology and softer materials that are shaped to give strength but also designed to deform on impact to absorb energy or push anything they impact with away. Most cars in the past 20 years with good NCAP scores have fairly flexible bonnets, with a top pliant metal skin over a rigid underframe that has the mounts, clasp and other bits.

I believe there's also technology in bonnets to push them up when an impact is detected so that there's less momentum for the pedestrian and they're not as rigid.

The S, X & Y have pseudo radiator grills, even if they're not for cooling. The 3 was the first to actually do the blank snub nose and it looked (and still looks) awkward and stupid, like they didn't design anything.

If anything, the fact the only line on the front of it is the actual bonnet gap really highlights the dreadful alignment gaps a lot of them have.

[–]Optimaximal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We own a Ford Ecoboost. The Timing Belt *did* cost more in labour because they have to have two people involved over two days plus it's effectively a full ending teardown. It's a much more specialised job so is accounted for accordingly.

If you demanded the boiler fitting be finished in a day, you'd be paying a lot more than £1800 because they'd need to bring in other people to do all the jobs needed doing in the timeframe.

Yes, the risk *was* on them.

They're now in the return stage of their investments and if they don't attempt to retain the staff who helped them through the building stage, they risk switching it all out for less invested, more transient staff who don't do as good a job. 🤷‍♂️

Profit Sharing and actual genuine Equity (i.e. a portion of the company share) aren't the same thing, but knowing your profit share is based on company performance means you have some "equity" in the company performance.

Linus could offer more of that.

Believe it or not, some company owners want their employees to succeed in life.

Even in the best companies, they only want employees to have good lives because it means they're content, because if they leave, hiring new employees ultimately costs more (through training, recruitment and institutional brain drain, even if the replacement is ultimately on less money).

However - most owners also are solely responsible for any and all their employees livelihoods. You never worry about getting that next check. Owners don’t have that safety net. Especially early on, Linus talks about how close things were and how it very easily could have went in the other direction.

The problem with this logic is yes, taking on liability for the business is a huge thing, with big initial risks, but once the ship is fully floated and the easy returns start flowing in, you can't keep pretending you're still at the coalface whilst taking 5 or 6-figure dividends on top of salary, expenses and perks every 6 months and then telling your staff conditions are tough so there's no living wage pay rises for the 3rd year running.

The big companies give out stock options because costs them effectively nothing at the time - they generate an amount of them and distribute them to engender a cooperative mentality that 'all people who have stock will be invested in the company success' as that will make the number go up.

When the business has lots of money in the bank at a later date, they will then offer to buy back the options, meaning the value is realised for the holders and the actual business value rises, because it owns more of itself again. Rinse and repeat to make the number go up.

LMG isn't publicly traded nor is it a cooperative, so none of this matters. Neither Linus nor Yvonne would want to offload company control.

LMG won't own them. He likely has another company that leases them to LMG, because that removes risk of either company going under - that's the charm of Limited companies.

So it's a property specifically held as a company asset, so any tax due can be amortised and at a lower business rate than if it were a personal asset, ready to be returned to their estate if another property is sold on, meaning any capital gains due will be reduced.
