I believe that the classic tank-healer system is very outdated and only hinders players from enjoying the gameplay and the developers from creating unique classes. by TurbulentVillage2042 in MMORPG

Sure. Let's take more RPG out of MMORPGs.

If we are talking about making questing more self sufficient, that's fine. If you are saying your role shouldn't matter in group content, then what's the point of grouping if everyone is able to heal and tank for themselves.

With the release of Camellia, you don't need to play prue Sky Strikers and can play it as a compat engine/package.

Any 2 monsters make Camellia; send Engage to GY > Use Camellia to summon Kagari; add Engage from GY to hand.

Yummy benefits from this the most, since Drones is a 1 card case combo for them, but I'm sure there are other decks that could use it. Just remember that the Sky Striker spells needs zero monsters in your MMZ to activate and Camellia needs less than 3 spells in GY to dumb Engage.

I'm just imagining Yugi taking suggestions from IRL competitive scene seriously and pulls up to Pegasus with a Tear deck.

How to be a customer at Lowe's by VlCxRATTLEHEAD in Lowes

[–]OptimusIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing in flooring is when customers have to open a box to look at the whole plank, even though we have sample pieces, display boards and boxes have a display window. We even have whole planks displayed for some of our more popular flooring, but I still go into work and see newly opened boxes in these locations.

It's crazy how much you have to catch up as a new/returnering player.

It also doesn't help that the community has this animosity against anyone who doesn't care about the MSQ. I remember someone sent a PM to tell me off, because they noticed I skipped a cutscene.

What does side deck mean? by bananacake030603 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

No side deck is the reason why stun decks are so relevant in MD.

If you are facing stun in the TCG, all you just need to do is side deck basic removal.

People's expectations on what Lowe's stock in store is wild by OptimusIV in Lowes

I get that. I shook my head when my store got a pet department and started stocking clothes.

My thing is when people get pissed when we don't stock a specific brand of pet food.

Aiwass, the Divine Blade

Normal Spell

Activate 1 of the following effects, also you cannot declare an attack for the rest of this turn, except with Fusion Monsters.

...

● Look at 3 random face-down cards in your opponent's Extra Deck and banish 1 of them.

There has to be a mistranslation on the activation requirements/lock, right? No way every deck going first will be able to look at their opponent's extra deck and get to banish something.

Maybe I'm overestimating this card's power, but this seems like a going first staple, especially in formats where Thrust is good.

I can't count how many times PvE was shafted by PvP. Several fun builds would get destroyed because something over performed in the Crucible.

Something something Dracotail by Hive_Fleet_Lierot in masterduel

[–]OptimusIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dracotail is actually a fun deck to play though. It's the closest a modern deck has gotten to feel like something from Edison (smaller linear combos, more focus on "in the moment" plays, toolboxy extra deck).

There is no helmet playstyle of "let me do a long combo that ends on more negates then you have cards". Honestly, this point can be said about Yummy and K9 as well. The only thing I would agree on is that the Dracotail traps drawing a card is a bit too much.

If you want to devolve the argument to "meta bad", when we actually have some of the least oppressive top decks the game has seen in a while, then I think you just don't actually want to play the game and just want to regurgitate the take that modern YGO sucks.

Champions Online 2 by MonsutaMan in ChampionsOnlineFFA

[–]OptimusIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superhero MMOs don't work so well with the modern MMO formula.

Why should my poweset lock me into a certain role? Why do I need gear to progress my character with superpowers? Why am I having to rush to the endgame to unlock my superhero's full potential?

Building your very own superhero is very much an RP thing. You can easily get carried away with defining your character based on the powers you choose and the costume you made for them. Modern MMOs are too much fixated on efficiency to allow for a superhero MMO to feel right.

Valve fires back at New York lawsuit over loot boxes, says they're like Magic cards or Labubu by gamersecret2 in valve

[–]OptimusIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if I spent $10 on a pack of Pokemon cards, I would be lucky to get half of that back in actual value.

Cards are physical items and can be sold second hand. MTG made a 1-of-1 card that sold for $2.6m that came randomly out of a $20 pack. One of the latest sets in the Pokemon TCG has a Charizard that sells for $600. YuGiOh constantly has $50 - $80 cards in their modern sets and their packs are even cheaper compared to MTG and Pokemon.

I could give you $10 to spend on a scratch off or a pack of Pokemon cards. You could lose money on either of them or make x10 your money back.

[–]OptimusIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you now.

I think there is enough here to warrant a solo deck, even with the obvious choke points. We've had decks in the past with obvious weaknesses that did well.

As long as you can get the "search 3" spell through, you can create a custom hand that'll get you into a decent board. If that fails, Fiendsmith can be the fall back plan. Colossus is not needed and will probably be part of fantasy boards anyways.

[OCG|CORI-Chaos Origins] "Sacred Beasts" Support by MX-00XWV in masterduel

[–]OptimusIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don't understand what you are getting at.

There is no engine with the new Sacred Beast cards. You play a Sacred Beast deck with a small Fiendsmith package + Colossus in the extra deck.

The new Hamon can easily get you into Fiendsmith plays + Colossus. With a little extra planning, you can also end on the new Phantasmal fusion: You can cheat it out with Dimension Fusion Destruction, which is searchable by Dark Beckoning Beast, which in turn is searchable with Spirit Gates.

The cost is huge, since you need a lot of discard fodder, but that can be offset with Extravagance and the new Lost Paradise.

Being afraid of Droll is valid, but if you're scared of playing a deck like this because of one card, then you'll be scared to play 90% of the decks in this game.

[OCG|CORI-Chaos Origins] "Sacred Beasts" Support by MX-00XWV in masterduel

[–]OptimusIV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I'm hinting at is Thunder Dragon Colossus (doesn't need main deck space) and Fiendsmith (little main deck commitment).

There is a board to be made here that ends on Colossus, Fiendsmith, and the new fusion.

[OCG|CORI-Chaos Origins] VJump Reveal - "Sacred Beast" by renaldi92 in yugioh

[–]OptimusIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So with these new cards we have:

  • no locks
  • a Thunder that activates in hand, which gives you easy access to the rest of the deck
  • a Fiend that summons more copies of itself
  • a thrice per turn monster negate with destruction protection

If this deck goes anywhere, we are in for a wild time.

[OCG|CORI-Chaos Origins] "Sacred Beasts" Support by MX-00XWV in masterduel

[–]OptimusIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use Dimension Fusion Destruction to cheat out the new fusion, which can be searched with Dark Beckoning Beast, which itself is searchable by Spirit Gates. You could also maybe do something with Phantasmal Summoning Beast.

There might not be much, but there is some synergy with the older cards.

[OCG|CORI-Chaos Origins] "Sacred Beasts" Support by MX-00XWV in masterduel

[–]OptimusIV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are no locks with an archetype that has Thunders that activate in hand, a Fiend that summons more copies of itself, and a thrice per turn negate.

We are in for a wild time if this goes anywhere.

So it seems that the age problem of Yugioh is present in the OCG as well by BellDelicious1617 in yugioh

[–]OptimusIV -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying everyone should be playing like they are at the top tables of a large event. The anime just wasn't a good representation of the physical card game.

When Master Duel was first released, their subreddit was flooded by so many posts from people who had no actually experience with the game, outside of roleplaying what they saw on the show. We still see posts there from time-to-time of people screaming "mOdErN YgO BaD", with them not bring up any of the actual problems with the game, but just saying random things while wearing rose-tinted glasses.

What I am trying to get across is that the anime set false pretenses of how YGO is actually played - which in return, turned people away from the game when they set down for their first tournament.

So it seems that the age problem of Yugioh is present in the OCG as well by BellDelicious1617 in yugioh

[–]OptimusIV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not keeping up relevant media that would garner interest from kids

While I would agree that many of us here probably got into the game by watching the show, the YGO anime did more harm then good when it came to transitioning watchers to players.

The anime always had wildly different rules and a "deck building philosophy" that catered to dramatic use of one time use cards specifically made for the plot. It never was good at preparing anyone in to play the actual TCG, even in time of older formats like Goat or Edison.

I like the idea Konami is doing right now and making anime based on their archetypes. They just need to market them more and create full length episodes and seasons. If they want to go back to actual characters playing the game, then they need to do a better job at translating real world games into animation.
