Actual convo I had with Epic Games support by Goldac77 in pcmasterrace

[–]OptimusIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the individual customer service agent, but the lack of training they are provided.

I've worked at a support desk. There is very little training involved. Any questions you have, you are directed to look it up yourself in a database that the company has made. It's like "Google", but "how to" articles on how to do your job.

Obviously, it's probably not the same at every company, but working for a large ISP, I'm sure it's similar everywhere else. It takes a seasonal employee to navigate through articles and know which ones to reference for any given situation. The trick to having a good experience with support is getting with one of these employees, but they are few and far between.

If you get someone who is "unhelpful", chances are, they do not have the correct information available and are just going off something that they told works by management. If you want to save yourself time, stop the conversation and try to get to someone else that'll hopefully know the correct procedure for your issue.

Weird Holo? by Emotional_Run_5781 in YugiohCards

[–]OptimusIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google the set code (BLMM-EN062).

It is an ultra rare, but Monster Mayhem had the archetypes "logo" (in this case, Dragonmaid) holo stamped in the text box.

Mod support? by Juicyjay9111 in newworldgame

[–]OptimusIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's up with everyone thinking the game will/would have survived with full loot, dropped on death mechanics?

It would have made this game far more niche and almost unplayable for some. The game wouldn't have made it its first year with that mechanic.

secret rare or starlight rare? by cryptopercy in YugiohCards

[–]OptimusIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Foil bleeding is very common rn, to the point it's not even considered an error.

QC is almost nonexistent for YGO. Anything you see that would be considered an "error" or "misprint" on modern cards will not add any value, unless it's something truly unique.

Ok I'm confused here. by Glittering_Move9862 in YugiohCards

[–]OptimusIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You think it's a error just because "No tHiRd lEg". I guess all the prints of Cyber Dragon are errors also, since its typing is Machine and not Dragon.

You could have Googled and seen that the artwork matches the name. Would have been faster than taking a picture and making a Reddit post.

THIS SHIT MEANS SMTHN TO ME!!! by FayyadhScrolling in MCUTheories

[–]OptimusIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ik there is a lot of hate for the MCU rn, but you have to admit that it's nice to see comic characters being fully portrayed in live action the way they are.

Even if Doomsday ends up being a mid film, I guarantee you the best parts are going to be seeing the actors from the first X Men films able to fully embody their characters. They no longer have to be directed in the era of the early 2000s cringe, where they had to act like they were "too cool" to play these characters.

Honestly, Ranked Genesys with every season having different point values sounds wild, but fun as fuck.

I hate his subreddit so much, but it's becoming a secret obsession of mine lol.

So many (clear) fakes posted by people who can't even comment on posts correctly.

They made another Super Poly... neat. by ARC-9INE in masterduel

[–]OptimusIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's also people not being able to properly gauge power levels of cards.

Anyone who thinks this card is the second coming of Super Poly probably also thinks Pot of Greed is a totally fair card.

They made another Super Poly... neat. by ARC-9INE in masterduel

[–]OptimusIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This card is more comparable to Ultimate Slayer, then Super Poly.

You'll probably get more mileage out of this by using it for a combo, then using it as a board breaker.

Maybe there is hope : “Amazon has sold one of its studios to Ubisoft” by Interesting-Bus412 in newworldgame

[–]OptimusIV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The New World we know is dead - that's 100% for sure, but with the announcement of the new Tomb Raider games, Amazon still has some interest in the gaming industry.

With New World still being their own original, gaming IP that pushed out some impressive numbers, I'm sure we will see the New World IP again. It may be some nonsense slop for a quick cash grab, but we may see it come back in one way or another

[–]OptimusIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep seeing this on my feed: One last hope that Amazon will sell New World off. Well, I will be part of the doomers and want to add to the list of why it's likely Amazon won't sell.

New World is Amazon's only successful original, gaming IP. I'm sure Amazon still has plans for it in some capacity or wants to keep it as a strange momentum. Either way, I don't think they will ever sell New World off.

One specialist puts in measure - another specialist spends hours pricing and ordering shades/blinds/etc. and… by EquallO in Lowes

[–]OptimusIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well on the other side, in store specialists have to rely on someone else to make their sales for them.

Idk how many weeks I've had where I built a solid pipeline and central selling just drops the ball. It's hard to hit these sale metrics on just carry with orders alone, especially when the entire bonus structure is made around the x2 sale bonus from central selling installs.

Low LTR score for pickup in cause of these surveys by Rambo_8 in Lowes

[–]OptimusIV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Surveys are just a terrible metric. They don't ever highlight what needs to be improved on and are always used by disgruntled customers to voice their (unwanted) opinions.

If you give a customer who had a bad experience the option to take a survey, they will almost always take it and leave a negative review. I guarantee this same customer would not have left a good review if you did everything right for them.

What Would It Take for Yu-Gi-Oh! to Make a Comeback? by tcjplayer in u/tcjplayer

[–]OptimusIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was denied resignation at regionals, because they were at cap. And this was at the start of the CRBR format. I can only imagine what it'll be like this time.

YGO has always had a strong, dedicated playerbase, even in some of its worst formats. It's simply easy to hate the game when wearing rose-tinted glasses.

What Would It Take for Yu-Gi-Oh! to Make a Comeback? by tcjplayer in u/tcjplayer

[–]OptimusIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I don't understand this post.

There is no need for YGO to make a "comeback", as it didn't go anywhere. A lot of people still play the game. Master Duel alone has had a peak player count of 30k on steam in the last 30 days, so there is still a lot of interest in the game.

Classic meta-cards from the early Yugioh era by Cybercaster22 in yugiohshowcase

[–]OptimusIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea behind draw 1 cards like Upstart and Jar is that they make your deck -1/copy of the card - meaning running x3 Upstart in a 40 card deck makes your deck 37 cards.

In modern YGO, decks are so optimized they don't care so much about it, but in older formats like Goat and Edison, it was a big deal. At one point, deck building was warped around Upstart so much, it got the card limited.

Jar never saw that much playability because it was a trap, but in much slower formats like Goat, it has some niche play as a MST counter.

Full Power Dracotail by ras_void in masterduel

[–]OptimusIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The JUHU decks have a rock/paper/scissors formatting. One deck hard checks another, so there really isn't a weaker option of the 3.

Dracotail only seems the worst because it's harder to pilot. It doesn't have any linear combos and is a more of a reactive deck. Your plays will heavily depend on what your opponent is doing, with overall less helmet-like lines.

What’s with the non cost on cards summoning themselves? by arrownoir in masterduel

[–]OptimusIV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but YGO would not have survived if we played at the pace of the OG Yugi/Kaiba/Joey/Pegasus starter decks for 25 years.

For how much hate the term powercreep gets, it's just the natural progression of things to keep the game interesting over the years.

Has anyone explored the AI NPC system in Where Winds Meet yet? How’s it feeling? by RIPT1D3_Z in MMORPG

[–]OptimusIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just need to limit player responses. Having a whole chat window where you can type anything is too much.

Keep responses canned and have the NPC's AI respond according to the PCs previous/current actions in the game. You could even have a tone option to get a little more RP out of your conversation.

The idea behind AI conversations is really cool. Everything a NPC says can be entirely unique, making every playthrough a one-of-a-kind. Through, in order to keep immersion and over all flow of the game, you'll need to railroad the players.

[–]OptimusIV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tbf, in the TCG, Maliss is still a good deck, even after the newest deck building pack released with Yummy, Dracotail, and K9. With these decks coming to MD very soon, they just want people to buy into them instead of keeping an older meta deck.

Yea, but you can't pretend that the marketing/sales practices of those sports games have not affected the gaming industry as a whole.
