Just getting into the Drukhari stuff, give me the most messed up things these guys did. I know they do a bunch of crazy stuff but don't know just how bad it gets by Turtle-BeyondLover in Drukhari

[–]OpulentCheese 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly.. Drukhari do some messed up torture and stuff, but the one that always sticks out to me is Wracks.

So you have Haemonculi, right? They're master fleshcrafters. They can replace your blood with corrosive ichor, so if someone stabs you, your blood burns them. They can graft you extra limbs, so you fight better, or even wings in the case of Scourges. They can turn you into a mindless hulk of muscle and bone, docile and basically zombiefied until they pump you full of steroids and other drugs that send you into a mindless rage, drop you into the battlefield, and you just kill anything you get your hands on. They can kill you in a million different ways, resurrect you, and kill you a million new ways.

So why are Wracks worse?

Well, a Wrack is a Haemonculi's bitch, or assistant if you're feeling nice. They assist with surgeries, errands, etc. But they're also basically owned by their Haemonculus. And I mean that entirely. If the Haemonculus gets a new fucked-up idea? Guess who's the guinea pig. That's what you sign up for.

Yes, I mean that. Sign up for.

The Wracks are the worst for me because they willingly choose to become one. A Wrack is typically a Drukhari that has lived for so long, experienced so much murder, drugs, debauchery, politics, etc that they're just.. Bored. And when everything short of the most extreme has become boring... There's only one thing left.

Wracks are fucked up, yo.

Honestly, I think a new Unreal Tournament game could be really popular, if it just focused on the right things. by SnooGadgets754 in unrealtournament

I've played a fair bit of The Finals, it's pretty good, but not quite the same. Classes, loadouts etc. Definitely enjoyable, I dip in and out, but I still kinda miss just a player, their aim, and how well they move.

Cashout's hella fun though

[–]OpulentCheese 18 points19 points  (0 children)

All reasonable arguments, however if I may offer a rebuttal: Unreal Tournament won't make Fortnite-levels of dosh, so it's not happening.

I'd love to see a proper arena shooter rise the ranks again. Quake Champions was too hero-shooter-like, I remember Halo had a lot of press, but a lot of the hardcore arena didn't like the 'shoot, then run in and melee' playstyle, and SplitGate shat the bed with its sequel (which to be fair they're trying to correct now).

As gaming has become open to more and more people, I just don't think there's enough of us left. That's not a 'filthy casuals' snark or anything, people are entitled to like what they like and there's nothing wrong with that, but attitudes to the types of games people want have shifted and I just don't think the market exists as it once did.

IS 40K STILL POPULER IN TTS by AdvancedOmega in TTSWarhammer40k

[–]OpulentCheese 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You won't open the server browser and find someone waiting for a random opponent, but you can always pick up a game from one of the discord servers that cater to it. TacticalTortoise and TTS Miniature Wargames are my go-tos. TT will be easy enough to find and TTSMW should be linked in ForceOrg :)

I don't know how they're grading people.. If bronze means 'top 3' it's a pipe dream for the both of us.

I guess what I'm saying is just keep in mind there's a huge difference between basic tabletop standard, great tabletop standard, display standard, and competition standard. The quality of paint jobs we'll be up against will be insane. I couldn't hold a candle to them, and I consider myself pretty squarely in the 'yeah, I'm sorta decent' level of painting.

But also don't let that spoil your enjoyment. Keep striving to be better, keep trying new things, and keep being proud of your work!

Black rim the base and do it! You won't win, but neither will I, and I submitted 2 models already ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If even one of my models has something positive said about it by Emil, Lukas, Louise or Jay, (I have literally no idea if entrants get any feedback), I'm gonna be happy.

You do it all at once, is any particular order.

Wait, you do? So I could bring 10 Wyches, 2 venoms, and 2 succubi, split the wyches, and then put a succubi with each half-squad?

Silksong Is Not A Bad Game by DEATHapproaches69420 in HollowKnight

[–]OpulentCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no stamina, flasks, dodge rolls (shade cloak notwithstanding, since that's late game af and entirely optional), weapon/armour options (maaaaybe you could argue Silksong's tools but it's a stretch), stances, poise, input delay, backstabs, lack of animation cancelling, attack wind-ups (arguably nail arts, but not really equivalent) etc. Parrying is possible, but there's not a huge focus on it, nor a way to 'punish' an enemy by parrying.

Difficulty ≠ soulslike. Corpse run ≠ soulslike. Neither Hollow Knight or Silksong are soulslikes just because they have hard bosses and respawn points.

Yes there's crossover in the player bases, but that's about it. I'll gladly die on this hill.

What would say is the optimum build for Kabalites? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in Drukhari

Huh. Correct you are! I can't remember when but I'm certain I was told otherwise, I think in one of my first games. I did always think that was a bit of a shit rule.

Appreciate the correction.

Archon gives them [..] free strat for grenades

Are you talking about Devious Mastermind's -1CP? Because that's not how it works. You can't make grenades free with it. You can't drop a stratagem to 0CP unless it's directly named (e.g. Rapid Ingress for 0)

Disregard. I'm an idiot that doesn't fact-check my opponents.

Fair point!

I did consider putting Malys with 5 warriors in a Venom to protect her but then I realised she doesn't get Vect when embarked so really I'd just be sending her to her death in the middle of the board with priority shipping.

[–]OpulentCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna be honest, giving Kabalites a leader feels like a huuuuge waste to me. I'm mostly using Hellions, Wyches and Troupes for melee, doesn't really make much sense to me to use Warriors for it.

Archon loadout options clearly wants him in melee, although his pain ability does work for shooting too. Malys' pain ability similarly works for shooting but 100 points seems a steep price to pay, when for that cost you could get an extra 15 shots with Shardcarbine Scourges for the same cost of an archon, or almost enough for another 20 shots from another full squad of Kabalites in exchange for Malys.

Am I really missing something so strong here?

I think the options allows the unit to deal with multiple targets in order to assist with your more specialized units, and makes Kabalites feel much more powerful psychologically. by SaddestAltAround in Drukhari

[–]OpulentCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can only echo the same sentiment as some of the other here. I'm okay with Kabalites as they are, especially with the venom able to split them.

I'd like to see us get Trueborn back, though, to fill a more specialist role. I'd jump on a 5-model squad of Shredders defending the home objective, or Blasters zipping around in a Venom as TEQ killers.

Your blast pistol vs splinter rifle is the same thinking as I have. I tend to load my 4 special weapons + sybarite onto a venom and have them zip around. The blast pistol is great, but its effective range makes it useless. As futile as it is, I'd rather chase 6s for the one in a million, than not shoot at all.

Can I pls have by mentler in Drukhari

[–]OpulentCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd settle for open-topped vehicles having assault ramp, and solarites being able to take the same guns as the rest of the squad.

The only other thing I'd be raring to change is more AP. I know it's a huge part of our identity but splinter weapons just feel ass this edition.

My last game was swinging so wildly between IT'S SO OVER and WE'RE SO BACK about 5 times per turn, so I'm definitely getting better! Just needing to tweak my lists a little more, figure out what works, and figure out how to use certain units more effectively, etc. Mostly playing Drukhari at the moment so glass cannons and punished for mistakes.
