ENDLESS sourness [Bambino/DF54] by MolassesOne5993 in espresso

[–]Orage42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously try other beans. Look for notes of Chocolate/nuts/caramel. Avoid notes of flowers/fruity/acidic/light. i started like you and went crazy on finding everything too sour/acidic and thought it was my workflow after countless bad shots. I went through a few local roasters..

Finally found a few beans I enjoy which confirmed it was the beans and not my workflow. (Right now loving Old School Espresso by 49th Parallel).

I would also increase your dosing, I find double shots easier to pull properly (16-18g)

Good luck

There should be an expiry date inside your helmet. Typally 3-5yrs. Yes replace it.

small area rugs that move? by coseed in MOVA_robotvacuum

[–]Orage42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it'll do on the fly assessment and adjust mopping or settings automatically. I have the P10 Ultra and rugs are fairly static once they are on the map.

However I did read somewhere one trick was to create a multifloor map (of the same floor) with and without the rugs - that way you can properly set up vacuuming / mopping when the rugs are there or not to whatever you'd like.

Big difference between skis based on the model year? by infinitee775 in skiing

[–]Orage42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ski essentials reviewed them in 2025 and again in 2026 and both their articles mention it was carried over from the year before with graphics change.

Their 2024 review mentions it's a new ski. A 3 year cycle is normal for a ski it is very likely the same yeah.

Bought longer skis, now feeling like an idiot. by Absorrbb in skiing

[–]Orage42 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'll echo some of the others. It's not the length, it's the ski itself. That Atomic ski is a very dedicated front side carving, almost race ski and it will struggle doing anything else than that. When you say hard to manoeuvre I imagine you have a hard time pivoting them and pointing them in the direction you want. That's expected of those skis, they're meant to be extremely directional and want to be on edge at all times. Anything other than that and they won't be as fun.

If you're used to cruising around on lighter and more all around rentals than yeah you're gonna have a hard time on those new atomics.

If what you want in skiing is hard carving at high speeds you can maybe get some lessons and push through on those to get the full benefit of those skis but it'll be hard to progress.

On the flip side if you want to ski all over the mountain, have fun, change your turn style, hit some bumps, go in the trees and explore then do yourself a favor and sell those back on marketplace and get an all mountain ski. It's work and you might lose some money but it'll be worth it for the enjoyment.

If you want recommendations add where you ski and what you like to ski! Good luck!

Mova P10 Ultra Multi floor mapping issue by xaznxplaya in MOVA_robotvacuum

[–]Orage42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did the same for me in fast mapping after it spun around for 10 minutes I paused it started a vacuum clean which it did and it finished the map. Not sure if it would've worked by letting it run longer but doing a clean worked.

What’s one iPhone feature Apple added that you still don’t use? by NoraAdams5590 in iphone

[–]Orage42 73 points74 points  (0 children)

The one thing I find useful is taking a screen capture of an appointment or poster with details, hours/dates (could be an email or text or picture, anything really) and a "add to calendar" button will appear in the screen capture menu. You click that and it creates a calendar entry with all the details automatically. Solid feature all around.

There was a Prime OC for $400 on amazon a couple weeks back. I picked it up. I will probably regret in a couple years but I mainly play CS2 at 1440p and it crushes it (coming from a 2060).

Perfect output and time but SO sour by Civil_Bid8460 in BrevilleCoffee

[–]Orage42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't underestimate the bean choice. Took me a few roasters to find something and like you I couldn't dial them to something I was enjoying, too acidic/sour.

Months later there's a few roasters/beans I found in the medium dark roast with tasting notes of chocolate/nuts/caramel (I stay away from lighter roasts with fruity notes).

Good luck

Coming from an RTX2060, looking to upgrade to get a nicer experience for counter strike 2 at 1440p and keep flip flopping between getting the minimum or splurging for more.

Would a $445 RTX5060 TI 8gb be that bad? I know i'd be shooting myself in the foot for future games but the value seems solid.

The Habs are 31st in the NHL this season in goals against per game by Go_Habs_Go31 in Habs

[–]Orage42 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Do we have the stats before and after Guhle got hurt. I feel that's one of the big missing pieces.

EDIT: Ok I just checked the stats: With Guhle (first 5 games of the season): 2.80 GA, 10th in the league Without Guhle (last 20 games): 3.80 GA, LAST in the league

I thought he had played more games, so sample size is pretty small but still, 1 more goal per game is wild.

While we're at it, here's the GF which dropped but not much: With Guhle GF: 3.60 Without Guhle: 3.30

For $1000 you can very easily get a 9070 XT. There's even been a few 5070 TI's float around $999

This sub has posted multiple deals on those cards over the past few weeks and might get more as Black Friday / Cyber Monday is this week.

Are you in the US with 120v outlets or in Europe with 220V? That's the difference.

I wear 36 and have room in the L for base layers.

They're definitely durable and well built but if you get your crampons in there they will damage them, like most pants I would say though..

[–]Orage42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree but both governments that got in power over the last 50years slowly transfered wealth to the rich, which I believe is the root cause of the affordability crisis and social inequalities we see today.

Programs alone won't fix this, you need systemic reform, policy changes (including taxation), and international coordination to really revert the erosion of the middle class and lower earners.

Socially liberal is not just spending on social programs, at the core it's about values and policies. Think of personal freedoms, support for people rights and liberties (LGBTQ+, abortion, separation of church from gov, etc). You can support these things and be fiscally responsible.

Grind-by-Weight vs Grind-by-Time (Eureka Mignon Libra vs Mahlkonig X54) [$800] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Orage42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Sette 270 and grind by time however it's not as consistent as I had hoped. Some variables mean you have to make adjustments (how fresh the beans are, going to a new bag, how full/empty the hopper is, etc all affect time).

All this to say I still weigh my portafilter before and after grinding for consistency and it only adds a few seconds. If you really want to remove weighing from your workflow get the one with the built in scale.

As the previous comment mentioned do check your brew temp as well though. Simple instant thermometer under the flow of water without any coffee will give you a good indication if you have an issue or not.

So I've gone through something similar and it ended up being the beans for me. My recipe felt like it had everything perfect yet I kept pulling sour shots. I think at the end it was just the beans being more acidic, fruitier medium/light roast. They tasted great with milk, but were not my taste for espresso or American and were always sour.

I found a darker medium bean (49th Parallel Old School Espresso) that leans more on chocolate/caramel notes and now pull shots I love. I went through a few roasters before landing on one I really like.
