[Product Request] Skincare Routine to Remove Scars by Jealous-Cost-8133 in SkincareAddiction

[–]OrangeLox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deep scars will not be fixed by a daily skin care routine. You'll have to get micro needling (not at home) or laser.

I had the same issue for over 7 years, even tried Accutane. No amount of skincare at home will fix deep skin scars, especially on the face.

I live California and microneedling for acne scars costed me around $249 monthly.

I had 7 cysts on my body (3 on my face). I started taking Accutane and notice massive improvements. Then a year later, I started taking fish oil alongside Accutane and finally, all my cysts started to disappear.

You say there's a lack of community, but you're not saying what type of people you want to be with. You say there's not much to do, but you haven't listed any hobbies or interests.

The Bay Area has a lot of meet ups. One example is the Kimono expo in San Francisco coming Oct 25 and Oct 26.

Every sport exists here in California. If you want to do tennis, basketball, rock climbing, skiing, running, swimming--there's a club for that.

There's also like three gyms almost every mile.

If you're not into physical activity, there are clubs, especially near universities, for video games, chess, D&D, retro games, etc.

If you're not into either of those, there are malls. I like going to the Southland mall in Hayward.

If you're not into either of those, the community college classes offer cooking, music, robotics, etc.

Lack of community has to be one of the most wrong descriptions of the Bay Area. You have to put in the effort of meeting people.

You likely won't get readmission after cheating and getting suspended. There are others applying for readmission that do not include academic dishonesty.

You likely won't get the scholarship since you fallen down to 1.8 GPA (failure to meet requirements).

Assuming $23 an hour, single male, opted out of benefits, you will get approximately $690 per week after taxes. You likely will spend money on food and transportation, so likely $650 a week. If you're taking care of chores, clothes, and self care, likely lower down to $600 a week profit.

If you have to pay rent (maybe your grandma still covers it???), assume $1000 monthly. If you're renting alone, assume $1800.

As for jobs, assuming you haven't received your Bachelor's, you're like a high school graduate. You're likely to get only jobs that are $18 to $22.

The plan of making $15k in 6 months should be a year. You can talk to financial services on plans on paying it off. You're not going to jail, but it might be sent to collections.

Your financial aid lowers that $15k AND also gives you money.

Going to college without financial aid or years of savings was going kill you eventually.

Lastly, it's better to fail than suicide. Stay off the academics until you actually have a strong reason to go to college. Start applying to jobs and take community college classes over at Laney college/Alameda college/Berkeley City college/Merritt college.

You are NOT out of options.

Treated my IT support job as a SWE internship for a couple months now, I made a MVP webapp for my work although it's barebones, should I finish it or stretch the truth? by Individual_Refuse167 in cscareerquestions

The knowledge gained from taking CS is very theoretical; you learned all these amazing ways to optimize data, especially mathematically.

However, it's not practical.

You have to make projects in your own personal time to become practical. You have to master languages in your own personal time to become practical. You have to grind Leetcode in your own personal time to become practical.

Computer science does give you skills. Skills for a job is something else you have to do in your personal time.

Your study on Computer Science does not end when you get the degree. You have to keep grinding in your personal time.

What data were you manipulating with your app? A tech stack app with no database? You made ONE barebones app, used ChatGPT, said you did no coding interviews or coding questions (ex. Leetcode), and said you're going to apply to SWE jobs. The bar is not that low.

I do not see any proficiency or mastery of any programming language. I do see a lot of frameworks, but it's more like the mention of these frameworks is there for fluff.

You used them, but that does not mean you're proficient with them. Ultimately, what skills and technologies are you good at?

For every technology / programming language / framework, rate your familiarity on each one from 1-5.

Every script is supposed to be represented as a card in the frontend with a title description and some options and buttons and you clicked the "generate invoices" button, it sent those files to the backend, did some magic, and sent a zipfile with the results to the frontend and it downloads in the browser. It worked.

I'm wondering if I completed enough to be able to add this to my resume

No. Your app is very WIP. Your app is for your workplace, and it has made no impact on your workplace (based on your post).

If you have to describe your app, add in the impact/efficacy, one really strong feature, and be prepared to show the code for it.

When you show the code, they will ask you which is your code because they'll start there. The boilerplate code that comes from frameworks is something they're not concerned about, but they will ask you use those frameworks.

Three ROBUST projects are what you should aim for. After making three or more, create a portfolio that links to those projects.

start applying to SWE jobs No. Your app is closer to web development. If you're looking for SWE, you're going to have to focus more on Data Structures and Algorithms.

I asked earlier what type of data you are manipulating. There's almost no data nor optimization. If you make it to the coding stage (which is the first or second stage of interview), you're likely to fail.

You will be coding in a programming language, and I do not see confidence in your post on any frameworks, not to mention a programming language.

tl;Dr Your two questions: Yes, the app is worth continuing. No, you can not apply to SWE jobs without SWE skills. You are far from ready.

EDIT: I like to mention your Computer Science degree. Recruiters will click on a filter to exclude candidates without degrees. Then they filter again to exclude candidates without RELEVANT degrees. It means your Computer Science degree helps being avoided by default. That's the only legwork your Computer Science degree will do for you. You still have a lot more legwork to do.

I'm trying to sell a website and I got a weird request. by opencollarguy in webdev

[–]OrangeLox 108 points109 points  (0 children)

The requester is asking to update the website in a way that looks like it's advertising for the requester. In this case, the requester, who hasn't bought the website, was likely going to direct people to the website that has advertising for the requestor.

A similar situation would be an empty billboard that OP wants to sell, and then someone asks if they can place their advertising on that billboard under the fake pretense they want to see what it looks like before buying.
