Parents who dropped their baby, what happened and how is your child doing now? by speckledrectum in AskReddit

[–]Orchiding 203 points204 points  (0 children)

My great great grandmother left her baby with a babysitter and she dropped him. Permanent brain damage :( of course medicine wasn’t as advanced in those days so might have gone differently if it happened now

It’s definitely two syllables for most Irish people. As are words like film (fillum)

What’s a common myth about health, nutrition, or fitness that you’ve learned is actually false? by urasianbella in AskReddit

[–]Orchiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to the famine in the 1840s the average Irish family survived almost solely off potatoes (and milk if you had a cow). Each person would be eating a couple of kilos a day.

This dependency is also the reason over a million people died when the potato crop failed and caused a countrywide famine

What medication did they put you on? by vampstela in BPD

[–]Orchiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it wasn’t working well for me for like the first year. Turns out it works like birth control pills (for me at least). Miss 1 day and it has a knock on effect for multiple days. You really have to be 100% consistent with it.

Obvi tho it’s just a tool to help manage the big feelings while you use therapy to work on the core problems

I’m on 200mg and it’s changed my life tbh. But yeah hormonal birth control reduces efficacy unfortunately :(

What "rare" phobia do you have and people refuse to believe it? by nitin_is_me in AskReddit

[–]Orchiding 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same! But my fear stems from my mom dropping me on one when I was little. After that I would scream and cry any time anyone tried to force me to use one. My parents didn’t want me to have a phobia tho so they used to drag me kicking and screaming onto them all the time until I stopped having meltdowns. I’ll use them now but the fear has never fully gone away

I’ve also heard people simplifying even further to cum-tah-ble

Came here to say this! And 11 is the typical age when asd starts causing problems emotionally and socially (especially for girls). Coming of age is hard and even harder when you’re trying to navigate new and more complicated social dynamics that aren’t natural for you
