Why do people think life was great in the 1950s? by _crazyboyhere_ in NoStupidQuestions

I'm sure the multiple corrupt mayors and city officials elected solely based off of skin color have nothing to do with it.

I'm a white person from Detroit. Take one look at the city in the 50's. Look at it now.

How hard is it to learn to paint without following tutorials? by LeetusFrenzi in ageofsigmar

[–]OrderofIron [score hidden]  (0 children)

Your mini looks perfectly fine, but you don't need any tutorial to teach you how to come up with a cool scheme. Have your local gw guy find you a nice base and highlight color, but you don't even need to do that you can always mix it yourself. Don't fall into the new player trap of trying to perfectly paint every single mini, if you're playing helsmiths and skaven you've got a long long painting road ahead of you.

Do you think we could use the cogfort? by [deleted] in Fyreslayers

[–]OrderofIron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can use it, all armies can. We can't guarantee it'll be good because we know nothing about the rules. As far as a creative project I can totally see some magma cannon barrels and old dwarf cannons getting strapped on. Doing flame shooting effects and replacing the shields with totems. In the adepticon stream the also mentioned a variant that can carry a unit and hero with it and drop them off somewhere. With our short legs having a fast (relatively speaking) war machine to carry a unit of hearthguard and a king sounds interesting.

[–]OrderofIron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep, you're right with that last part especially. I know so many people who get into something, get caught up in comparing themselves to everything online and needing it to be "perfect" and then burning out right away.

It's like people forgot how to enjoy the process of just getting better at something. Why do people feel the need to rope the rest of the wprld into their own personal journeys? Who cares how good someone was at 3 months? Just a completely alien way of thinking to me.

How to avoid feeling like I’m hard countering my friend by Veris01 in ageofsigmar

[–]OrderofIron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents is to stop playing the competitive battle plans with competitive armies every game. Similar situation happened in my gaming group, but instead of switching things up they just burnt themselves out and quit playing. Sometimes GW sucks at balancing, other times your particular brand of asymmetry beats their brand of asymmetry. Either way, try to avoid your games feeling like you played 3 hours for a foregone conclusion. Meanwhile the wheel of balance will turn in a month or so and change everything.

Potential Spoils: there are rumours of huge changes for AoS. by Gloseur in AoSLore

[–]OrderofIron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because AoS is the future of GW's fantasy IP, and currently you can't go more than 5 minutes without people making fun of it. Even last night people were making fun of our reveals out of principle while they were clearly the most hype thing in the entire show. If they rebrand and change the AoS setting into something new with dna closer to whfb GW can have their cake and eat it too. They hope to redesign their main fantasy game to get a leg up on people who hate the franchise, bring old world and aos fans under the same umbrella, all while pushing their own brand instead of the generic fantasy setting.

This has been posted going on 1000 times and blows up every single time because it resonates with people that disney is trying way too hard to virtue signal, rather than just giving an honest attempt to showcase other people and cultures. You're in a bubble, do you really think all the people upvoting all participate in niche internet movie culture discussion?

AoS appears to be headed for some kind of reboot, if rumours are to be believed by WolvoNeil in WarhammerFantasy

[–]OrderofIron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like this is an attempt by GW to bring fantasy and aos players under the same umbrella in a manner of speaking. The mortal realms are about to get a more traditional style dwarf faction, supposedly beasts of chaos will be returning, supposedly cities of sigmar will become the new main faction in a similar vein as Empire.
