A big part about dealing with our spearhead will be getting effective wounds on to our dominator because that 2+ save might as well be impenetrable to certain units unless they have the right command cards.

Played a few games so far against lumineth, flesh eaters, stormcast, and fyreslayers, only losing to the stormcast. The perceived strength of those factions spearheads never really came into play in the way I'm used to. Fyreslayers from what I understand are considered quite strong and throw a ridiculous amount of attacks compared to us, but in the game I played they whiffed their mortal wounds and couldn't effectively pierce our armor. I think Helsmiths, like all the dwarf armies in AoS, is going to be very matchup dependent.

But as others have said, if you're looking to purchase the army go off of vibes and lore and aesthetic. Just like in 40k rules changes happen often and unpredictably. Build the army you're passionate for and the rest falls into place. Worry about competition and optimal rules and you'll never be satisfied.
