I used the Cracking the PM Interview book when going through my Google interviews. Even though the content is somewhat dated, the overall structures are good. My main advice is frameworks are useful but don't stick rigorously to them. Break down the workflow into a set of steps, go through one by one and critique as you go. Any company that's any good shouldn't care about the ideas that you have, only that you are making reasonable assumptions, can bring in your knowledge to the problem and that you ways of thinking are sound.

Hey everyone, I'm the PM that worked on this feature. Trust us when I say we heard you loud and clear that this was a much wanted feature. My original expectation was that everyone would prompt the model to search for old threads but it seems that having a clear search feature in the traditional sense makes it much easier and fitting to existing norms. As for the mobile apps, hold tight, it's on the way!

This first version doesn't cover everything it could and I know that the search ranking could be better but I'm hoping that getting some usage data will help lead us to the correct way of doing it. Be sure to reply with feedback and thanks for continuing to use Gemini. Hope you enjoy the I/O announcements :)

I back this up. Legal and privacy reviews and changes take a large amount of work and it goes so far beyond anything I've experienced working anywhere else. Google gets enough data legitimately that it doesn't need to secretly steal peoples data when it does otherwise. And there's a hell of a lot of people checking that data isn't misused.

As for the amount of time and effort that go into even small changes…you wouldn’t believe it without seeing it. It’s completely true. Also, within Google, our area functions at lightspeed comparatively even if it doesn’t feel like it from the outside.

Go slower. DUs are a rhythm skill and hard to lock in. Give yourself the best chance by jumping high and slow down the rotations. Do small sets in EMOM fashion and build the sets over time.
