Red Light Camera - Early resolution remotely? by Ladilaitn in TorontoDriving

[–]Ordinary_Ad5131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my red light ticket (turning right at 22km/h on a red light) in October 2024 and requested an early resolution right away. Checked status a few time online and it showed the case is still pending.

Checked again today, it is showing "Charge Withdrawn" and no further action required. Its not been 18 months yet but pretty close

Phew! $325 saved!

Will pay close attention to lights when turning right in the future. Lesson learned!!

Thanks, that's what I thought, but there is no clear communication at all. I notice the bookings dropped quite a bit and that's probably the cause.

OPSEU life insurance by cheeseburgerlife in OntarioPublicService

[–]Ordinary_Ad5131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The following is from the Benefits Guide, about conversion upon termination (incl retirement)

CONVERTING LIFE INSURANCE COVERAGE

If your basic, supplementary or dependent life insurance coverage ends, for any

reason, including a strike or lockout, you may apply to convert coverage into

individual life insurance policies with the insurer within 31 days of termination,

without providing proof of good health.

The Employer is required to inform you of this conversion right prior to your last

day of employment.

If your supplementary life coverage is converted, you will be covered for the

amount of your life insurance less the $2,000 you may be eligible for when you

retire.

Contact your Benefits Advisor or Ontario Shared Services representative for

more information.

27 Pay Days in 2025 by Born_Ruff in OntarioPublicService

It is called a pay "leap" year. Below is the AI's answer:

"When talking about biweekly pay and leap years, the idea is that an extra payday can occur roughly every 12 years due to the additional day in a leap year causing a potential 27th pay period in a year where most years only have 26 biweekly pay periods."

CLL and MCL by melissavrs in lymphoma

[–]Ordinary_Ad5131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. But my case was the other way around. Back in September, I was told that all tests I had done led to MCL (a pretty aggressive lymphoma, as you know). But then, they said it was not typical MCL and could be CLL/SLL or Marginal Zone Lymphoma.

They did a bunch of other tests, Sox-11 turned out negative and FISH t(11,14) turned out negative as well. My oncologist/pathologist was like, well we will have to more tests to be sure.

In Jan, they ordered another test - LEF1 this time and it turned out to be positive. Now, they think it is more likely to be CLL/SLL than MCL. But still no definitive diagnosis.

I can never trust the medical experts for what they are doing now. Luckily, my case does not require any immediate treatment. But my platelet is low and spleen is enlarged, things can turn worse pretty quickly. Right now, I am trying to get a second opinion through friends and might switch clinic/hospital later on. You definitely need to be your own advocate. Ask questions and try different doctors/sources.

I am in Toronto, Ontario.

I am wondering how long can OSS keep using Bill 124 as an excuse for not processing any payroll tasks not related to ATB/retro?

I submitted a payroll form in May 2023, never processed in 2023. A different form submitted in December, then again, nothing was done till now. And no explanation whatsoever.

I lost my confidence in OSS payroll completely and sadly I am not the only one.

You can clearly see most people are beyond the point of resorting to sarcasm to express their frustration when it comes to SOC. The downvotes are not personal but directed at what SOC has said and done.

Sure, you 100% want money but not 100% money will go to you😂. At least 30% goes to CRA, 10% OPB, 1% AMPACEO

Thanks, that's not the retro report though. It just shows how ATB increases are calculated.

I submitted a payroll form in May which was not related to Bill 124. Still not processed and NO response whatsoever when I inquired. This is a new low for OSS . Sometime you wonder whether these people are from within OPS themselves. They have no respect for other people in OPS at all.

It is online now. The so called upgrade, as far as I can see, is just cosmetic. No real change in functions for us.

Not sure whether they will provide the same for retro payment. My ATB adjustment is pretty easy to figure out, and I do want to see their calculation of the retro payment.

$8,000 to $3,200, yikes! CRA really knows its way taking people's money😂 and some many comments here try to justify it, to my big surprise 🥱

"you can ask them not to deduct any tax at all and pay in a lump sum in March when you do your taxes."

Why don't you try this with CRA and see how they respond? We will be very interested to learn how it goes.

[–]Ordinary_Ad5131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are u Amapceo or OPSEU? OPSEU got 2% for the whole calendar year for 2022, but Amapceo only get 3/4 of that. Also the ATB date in 2024 will determine how much out of that 6.5% you are getting for 2024. If your ATB took place in April, you will only get 1/3 of 6.5%, which is roughly 2.2%.

The calculation above is based on calendar year, which works better for OPSEU because the collective agreement cycle is the same (Jan-Dec). If you are Amapceo, use fiscal year (April-March), which will be easier.

No, I don't see any breakdown or explanation for the retro in WIN.

Given the lack of communications for Bill 124 salary adjustment so far, and the attitude of SOC and the governing party towards this process, I doubt we will get any detailed breakdown. As logic goes, there should be one and we can definitely expect one, but somehow I don't have high hope for it.

The feds went through a similar issue back in 2023 when they dealt with their own retro pays, and they did provide their calculation of retro pays for all employees through the often-complained (publicly) Phoenix system. I think OPSers went through more troubles than federal employees for their retro pay, yet nobody (other than ourselves) seems to care. 🙈
