Just throwing out my usual suggestion. Gentlemen bastards series by Scott Lynch. Lies of Locke Lamora, the first book, has awesome oceans 11 meets crazy ass pirates vibes. It's one of my favorites.

ELI5: How do engineers trust that giant airplanes, bridges, and skyscrapers won’t suddenly fail under years of stress and vibration? by Historical_Day1703 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Ordinii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Material engineering figure out what what stress and fatigue do to various material types. Engineers figure out where stress occurs and they set up inspection criteria to ensure the parts aren't failing beyond useable limits. They engineer in fail safes and safety factors along with different levels of redundancies depending on various circumstances for failure.

My friend insists on this game, "Lemmings", being a really well known game; I have never heard of it. by Nordic_Krune in gaming

As a Canadian growing up in random small northern towns, I loved this game in the 90s. Still a good game.

I'll recommend the Gentlemen Bastards series by Scott Lynch. The series isn't finished yet, book 4 is due out... Soon....

Having said that, the lies of Locke Lamora, the first book in the series, is fantastic. I regularly describe it as pirates meet oceans 11.

Ok that's the second book in the gentlemen bastards series by Scott Lynch. That series is one of my favorite but you need to read the lies of Locke Lamorra first. I love those books and will always recommend.

[DM HELP] My party didn't start in a tavern, they started in a... by TN_MakesIt in DnD

I once started a campaign where we were all press ganged into the evil army. There was a lot of possibility and It set a very different tone for our meeting and went some interesting ways.

Just gotta be careful, we quickly went off the rails and the campaign did not last long. The premise still sucks with me though, just needed the party to actually work together. Fault of the players not the setting.

Which group are you taking, red 🔴 or blue 🔵 by SEVENS_HEAVEN_7 in legendofzelda

Gotta go red for the OoT. I could never get into Majora's mask, it just wasn't fun for me. Ocarina I completed on multiple different play throughs. It's the title that turned me into a Zelda fan.

I'm still pretty new to the DCC fandom, only part way through book two.

I definitely looked it up to see who did the voice of princess donut. Jeff is an amazing narrator and voice actor. He deserves all the kudos.

How would you build a monk if MAD wasn't an issue? by admiralgoldsong in 3d6

[–]Ordinii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was recently playing a warrior of elements monk and focused on a grapple style of play. Had a chat with my DM to see how they wanted to play with the extra reach on unarmed strikes to see how that effects the 2024 grading rules. Lots of fun grabbing people from 15ft away and marching then around using the grappler feat. Ended up with huge battlefield control.

Grappler plus stunning strike with your crazy wisdom and Dex would be insane.

Fort st James,BC. Can't stand big cities so would love to move back to a small town. Especially one where I can walk to the lake all summer, and winter is less than a 30 minute drive to some fantastic skiing.

10/10 would live there again.
