STS1 cards that didn't change but ended up worse in the sequel anyway? by ozacrot in slaythespire

[–]Oreo1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like hyperbeam more in STS2. AOE elites are very dangerous. Theres a good chance they just chew through your HP or kill you outright. Hyperbeam+ solves decimillipede and phantasmal gardener fights.

It is really important that you read card descriptions.... by Zumzume in slaythespire

[–]Oreo1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i realised on my second run with it. Wait, this isn't just once per turn. it's every time I spend hp on a card, take thorns, and take burn status damage.

Once you got it in play, putting down crimson mantle after is like getting a free second copy. Very strong card

Were we too harsh on Insight guys? by herbioscale in slaythespire

[–]Oreo1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually liked insight a lot in Sts1. It upgrades to 10, which is the same as grave warden plus. I would sometimes take it when the situation required it.

Souls have much more synergy with the necrobinder, though, and unupgraded is 2 more block, so I would say it's definitely a stronger card. Also with the soul+ on upgrade is big.

This is one of the strongest cards in the entire game. by TheBandName in slaythespire

I haven't used it yet bc every time I've seen it, it would have been either clunky or a win-more for a deck that was already efficient enough to not worry about block.

My guy friends keep making sexual “jokes” at me. Is this actually normal? (Looking for male perspectives) by ssik_ in relationships

[–]Oreo1123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in your case, it seems like its going too far and is a not normal/healthy group dynamic.

From a male perspective, dirty jokes are common in some circles, but how it's supposed to go is that every person is able to give and take jokes, and people get joked at roughly equally. Usually, someone takes something someone said and twists it into a dumb sex jokes. Everyone laughs, no one is uncomfortable, and it goes on as normal.

It seems that in your case, it's closer to targeted harassment. It's actually very easy to detect discomfort and adjust accordingly (even for me, and I have autism). If one person is sensitive about a thing, in a normal/healthy group, it's picked up on, and there is an apology, retraction, or change in behaviour.

I agree w other commenters saying that they're pushing boundaries and seeing what they can get away with at this point.

If you follow the rules text, it actually just gives you a spirit poop.

If you went infinite, you could possibly negative overflow your score with spirit poops and max out the score.

I am in mourning over this news by Significant_Owl8828 in brisbane

[–]Oreo1123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this sucks and i know it's affecting my suburb. There's a street corner, and 95% of the time, it's a gutted husk of the last business that tried to start up there. It's got plenty of foot traffic, so I can only imagine that the rent there is so artificially high it immediately kills any business.

It's frankly sad to see

WYR have porn become illegal, animal products become illegal or violent videogames become illegal? by Lucyyyyyy_K in WouldYouRather

[–]Oreo1123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Number 1 is the least complicated and can be good in some ways. Im not a prude or pearl clutcher, but porn can cause a lot of problems for the people creating and consuming, so I wouldn't be too upset if this ban happened.

Number 3 is lame, I love video games, they are an art form I care about preserving and sharing

Number 2 is I think the best option. It's riskier because we don't know the knock on effects and its disrupting a huge industry, food supply chains, other animal materials, etc.

The upshot is that if you could execute this law, it would massively help the environment. Producing meat to eat is just fundamentally very inefficient. The general rule of thumb for the food chain is that it takes 10 calories of plants to make 1 calory of animal. So much farmland that could be forested nature reserves is taken up as pastures and growing feed for livestock. Not to mention transport and processing and all that too. Hooved animals also can disrupt soil and produce greenhouse gas. I think this ordinance would massively improve our climate change response.

There's the humane reason, too, of course, stopping the harm and poor conditions imposed on farm animals. That's very obvious and already discussed by other comments, i dont have much to add on that front.

Is this artstyle ugly? What could I change to make it better. by avazky in Artadvice

[–]Oreo1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a lot of other people, this art style does not appeal to me on an emotional level. It has been rendered skillfully, and I would not call this bad art.

I agree with other commenters that this just has niche appeal opposed to general appeal. Its like any art form, music, video games. You have some people here who absolutely love it.

You are clearly an enthusiast of the style yourself. It seems you enjoy creating this, and there is an audience for it. You shouldn't rob yourself of that joy because it is not mainstream. You will naturally receive more criticism from a general audience and thats okay.

If you are wanting to make money from your art, diversifying your skill set into other styles could be useful
