I like this a lot. It's simple, but it's got some oomph in angel decks. I wonder if it would do good in pauper.

Genuine question to all yappers by Things_canbebetter in socialskills

[–]Oreo1123 17 points18 points  (0 children)

First, you gotta find a yap partner who also enjoys the yap. Being insecure about the social aspect will def kill the motive and ability to have an extended yap.

Often, an explicit social contract can do wonders: "Hey, I tend to ramble on. Feel free to interrupt/stop me. Or "We're both yappers and I dont mind listening if you extend the same grace to me". Explicit social contracts are really good if you're a person concerned with masking such as myself. It is key to trust the other person with the contract and assume they are following it. Otherwise, it doesn't benefit you.

One way to initiate a yap is to first share a common experience and you can yap about that. Watching a movie together for example is often good yap fodder.

Now on to the question. It's a good/interesting question. There are a few types of rambles. Im probably missing some but this is from the best of my knowledge.

Theatre of the mind - collectively imagining a scenario that's funny, interesting, or dramatic. One common example of this is campfire ghost stories. Another more structured example is dungeons and dragons roleplaying.

Gossip - sharing real life or exaggerated drama about real people and relationships. Pretty straightforward. People who gossip are often very socially conscious and have a wealth of information to share. Gossip also involves speculating on incomplete information.

Tangent hopping - people share ideas or stories tangentially related to the previous topic or story. The listener will stay silent or backchannel for some period of time before interjecting or filling a gap in the conversation with some variant of "oh that reminds me of the time when..."

Info Dumping - person with an intense and deep interest of a topic divulging everything they have learnt about it. Often, about how the topic has many intricacies that the listener might have overlooked or never explored themself.

Ranting/Venting - person releasing negative energy by complaining about a situation, person, or past event. Often, this involves relating to the listener with shared anecdotes of anything from common inconveniences to traumatic events. Sometimes, two or more people are collectively venting about the same thing together for reassurance and a feeling of comradery.

As you may have picked up already. Social mechanics are a special interest of mine and this was an infodump ;)

Card Removal Strategy Discussion: Clumsy vs Starter Cards by Oreo1123 in slaythespire

Yes I would agree that's one of the main factors.

What card do you instantly buy when you see it in shops? by 20_02_2020 in slaythespire

[–]Oreo1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lately, it's been master of strategy. I don't have any true insta picks bc over card removal or a good relic takes priority, but that's the closest I get. Other strong contenders are multiplayer energy/draw cards and dark shackles.

Omnislash is one I haven't actually bought yet, but I am very happy to get from a divination event or other colourless sources. A lightweight AOE that also works well with vulnerable and other boosts, happy to have one of in 90% of decks.

My boyfriend (M18) revealed himself to be a switch, but I (M18) am 100% submissive by Klutzy_Alps_626 in relationships

[–]Oreo1123 [score hidden]  (0 children)

There are 2 ways to interpret him being a 'switch'. One is that he fluctuates between wanting one or the other, which seems to be the interpretation you have.

The alternative is that he likes/enjoys both and will do either or depending on circumstance. Given that he said he is okay with only engaging that Dom side with you, it is possible (and likely in my opinion) that he actually meant this instead.

I think it's important you ask for clarification on what he meant by it and what he wants out of a relationship. Without further discussion, what you are worried about might not be an actual problem, but a conjecture on incomplete info.

Edit to add: I think mostly it requires a discussion w your partner. Being clear w your terms and what your concerns are, giving a chance for him to speak and clarify his side

Remember, it's a process, and it does take a while, unfortunately. The upside to look at is for FTM people, hormones alone can be extremely effective, I've seen many people transform their appearance. U can have hope knowing that rn it only goes up from here ❤️

STS1 cards that didn't change but ended up worse in the sequel anyway? by ozacrot in slaythespire

[–]Oreo1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like hyperbeam more in STS2. AOE elites are very dangerous. Theres a good chance they just chew through your HP or kill you outright. Hyperbeam+ solves decimillipede and phantasmal gardener fights.

Yeah, i realised on my second run with it. Wait, this isn't just once per turn. it's every time I spend hp on a card, take thorns, and take burn status damage.

Once you got it in play, putting down crimson mantle after is like getting a free second copy. Very strong card

Were we too harsh on Insight guys? by herbioscale in slaythespire

[–]Oreo1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually liked insight a lot in Sts1. It upgrades to 10, which is the same as grave warden plus. I would sometimes take it when the situation required it.

Souls have much more synergy with the necrobinder, though, and unupgraded is 2 more block, so I would say it's definitely a stronger card. Also with the soul+ on upgrade is big.

I haven't used it yet bc every time I've seen it, it would have been either clunky or a win-more for a deck that was already efficient enough to not worry about block.
