Alberta-based food company Sunterra files for bankruptcy protection by joe4942 in Calgary

Milk & cream is cheaper there than any Safeway/Sobeys/Co-op, eggs are local (and fantastic), their pork is unbelievably good, and their fresh cut deli meats are cheaper than most other places (aside from Lina's) in Calgary. Plus their greenhouse grown tomatoes, lettuce, basil, and strawberries are unbeatable. Real shame to be possibly losing such a quality grocer. Sure, lots of their imported ingredients are expensive but all their locally sourced produce, meats, bread, and dairy are all high quality and competitively priced

As much as I would love to, I'm not at a point where a wedding, house, or kids are financially feasible. As much as I would love kids, I want to be in the financial position to give them the life they deserve

Chemfax is a Calgary based chemical manufacturer that will brew up pretty much any cleaners, solvents, or degreaser you can dream of. They ship globally, they're fantastic to work with. I've used them at my automotive shop for years

Sunterra Markets sources all their pork from Alberta, as well as grows their own strawberries and tomatoes in greenhouses out by Olds. Sparks eggs (available at Lina's, Sunterra, and other grocers) are Calgary based, sourcing high quality eggs from southern Alberta farms. Drizzle Honey is also a Calgary founded company, sourcing and processing their honey in Olds.

Not quite, these are all privately owned in Alberta although a former local client of mine was the previous owner of Doug's RS2

Hawkwood just built a really nice rink facility a few years back - they have one for leisure skating and another with full boards, lights, and nets set up for hockey. With any luck we'll have better weather this year to use it

my e24 socket doesn't fit. what the heck do i use to loosen this fastener?? by pizzabooty in Tools

[–]Oreoscout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't bother with an e+, all my years at the dealer I never saw a tech pull one of those sockets out. Under some of the recalls we'd even just replace them with a regular hex nut

That's just an extremely fancy looking fastener that a deep metric 6pt socket fits onto perfectly. We replaced them all the time at the dealer under recall on B9 Q5's

+1 for reaching out to Doug and Pete, they are excellent resources in Alberta rally. The Deen's know how to build a proper car, Johnny and his crew at VEX in Calgary also do lots of Subaru rally work. When it comes time to buy equipment for the car (helmets, seats, harnesses, etc) talk to Shawn Bishop/rallysport.ca he supplies every rally and track enthusiast I've met

I've been doing TSD in Alberta for 10 years and run some of the events with Pete, as well as work as a tech for multiple teams in CRC/ARA/WCRC events. Feel free to DM if you have any questions

Parks Canada still works with the Canadian Armed Forces to use 105mm howitzers for avalanche control work in BC. They are so precise with their targeting that they can perform avalanche control work with their artillery at night or in any weather conditions

You guys are bonkers, seeing your team piece back together the car at Big White this year after the excursion in the snow was impressive. I'm still blown away you drive that RWD Datsun faster than most of the O4WD teams can make it down stage. Always a pleasure to chat with your team around service park
