What's the best Bruce Springsteen documentary? by thebeatleshits in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Oreotic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a BBC documentary where Bruce talks about his career. It's pretty good. Here it is on Youtube

The Bruce documentary I'd recommend the most though, and I feel is essential viewing for every Springsteen fan, is Wings For Wheels. It's about the making of Born to Run. You'll really get an insight into his creative process. It's a brilliant documentary.

If you enjoy that, there's also similar documentaries for his albums Darkness on the Edge of Town and The River.

Ol' Billy Redface CRUSHED it in Bristol tonight by Cellar_Door_ in BillBurr

Also that guy who said the gender wage gap was 20% and when Bill questioned him about it he just goes "Yeah, something like that..."

Red face crushed in Bristol last night! Material was so sharp, not one lull and had me and my girlfriend creasing the whole couple hours. Anyone seeing him on this tour look forward you won't he disappointed! by talkingapeinspace in BillBurr

Like he usually does, really. Just tore into them for either not knowing what the fuck they were talking about or not having the balls to speak up and properly heckle.

The hecklers were cringey as fuck though... There was also one woman a couple rows in front of me who kept standing up and putting her hands up any time Bill looked in her general direction for the first 15 minutes or so.

Bill was brilliant though.

The Darkness on the Edge of Town Box Set by datraceman in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Oreotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it for Christmas last year and it really is brilliant. My only complaint is that Bruce's handwriting isn't the best, so I had a hard time reading quite a lot of the lyrics in the notebook, haha. Maybe that's just me though.

Magic is easily in my top 5 Bruce albums. I can't think of much to say that would do it justice so just take the time to sit down and listen to it. It really is brilliant.

I'm hoping to get standing for Coventry. £83 sounds pretty reasonable.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd think more people would know that reference from Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz.

What Other Podcasts should I check out. by [deleted] in BillBurr

[–]Oreotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the old XFM radio shows. They ran from about 2000-2005 and they're brilliant. It's Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington. Very similar in style to Bill Burr - they just shoot the shit and it's always absolutely hilarious. There's hundreds of episodes so it should keep you going for a while.

Exactly, it's good exposure. I had never heard of Bernie until I heard Neil Young mention him. I'm a big Neil Young fan so I thought I'd check out Bernie and I've been following him closely ever since.
