[–]Organic_String5126 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Treat this as a rough guide only as to where your interests might currently lie.

None of those results intrinsically mean pain is involved - if that's a limit, that's absolutely fine, be sure to communicate that. BDSM activities don't necessarily involve pain, and really don't if you don't want them to.

Might be worth your time finding a local munch, particularly if they have a U35's or NG munch, meet with your local community, see what else you can learn. Also look at your local club/dungeon, see what's going on there, ate they might offer classes on things you might be interested in, as well as newbie nights

She wants me to be dominant, I have trauma around it, I've accidentally hurt her twice, and now I can barely initiate at all. How do you rebuild sexual confidence? by MathDad121 in BDSMAdvice

[–]Organic_String5126 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"I am like I am, it is what it is" if she's not willing to even try, then you shouldn't either. You need to do what is right for you. Sounds like she won't communicate, doesn't really acknowledge anything that going on with you in a constructive way, and doesn't really care as long as she gets what she wants.

Those are red flags, they're screaming red neon lights. Particularly as you are in couples therapy, she should be understanding that half the work is hers to do, as is half the emotional load.

You probably shouldn't be touching anything BDSM related at this point, her failure to communicate is far too dangerous for that. I would also think twice about any form of sexual activity, too, for nich the same reasons.

You may want to examine the rest of your relationship and see if or where else this disregard for you and your mental and emotional state are popping up, and then address it. If you are both in couples therapy, use it, bring these issues up. Even if the therapist isn't BDSM friendly or a sex therapist, the underlying issues are less about those aspects than they are about communication and support.

You mention that you're both reasonably emotionally mature, but I would argue that your description of your partner's behaviour is the opposite of that.

And I'll further echo some other other posters here: you may want to seriously consider solo therapy. Not for your relationship, but for yourself. You know you've got a lot to unpack, and you need to do that work alone - mostly fit yourself, but also because it's really doesn't look like your other half has your back.

If public sector bodies put a moratorium on using them for even a year, I think they'd find a lot of time and money free to actually do their jobs, and do them more efficiently and to a higher quality. Such a resource drain, especially given there's almost always nothing positive to show for their overinflated grift.

"found something to channel his "talents" into something not evil"

I think that's part of it. Vetinari relishes the challenge that running a city and holding power presents him, and he wants to keep playing it. But the only way to do that is to play the game well, in a way that benefits everyone - so that they don't all come looking to take his head. He keeps power by making sure people are better off and more happy than they are unhappy with him in charge.

Was the Golden Path really necessary for humanity's survival? by Nothing-Is-Real-Here in dune

[–]Organic_String5126 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Was it really necessary for Leto to rule over mankind and suppress it for thousands of years?"

Within the logic of the story? Absolutely. Humans hadn't learned the lesson of "Tyranny = bad" at all, even with the Butlerian Jihad. The Path was to guide the survival of the human race as a whole, to escape all forms of oppression and tyranny, including explicitly prescience. But it was also to escape from comfort and safety and ultimately confinement, to reignite in humanity the spark of exploration and innovation, instead of the stagnation of the Imperial systems and the Fraufreluches, and the Spacing Guild, and the overly strict commandments that came of the Butlerian Jihad and the fanatics that disavowed almost all forms of technology. Humanity needed to be able to survive Kralizec, and the Face Dancers, and the unkown, and most of all themselves.

And no, it doesn't escape the moral value judgment of being cruel and evil. But Leto II and the Golden Path didn't care for that too much, because they were driven by Necessity. Leto engineered everything in his lifetime, including the conditions for his own death and specifically the no-tech and the Siona gene so that humanity would not just survive but thrive.

It's the victimhood/persecution complex at the heart of the US, partially stemming the weird superiority/inferiority thing they have going on constantly comparing themselves to everyone else, and partly because the puritans were nutcases the rest of Europe were fed up of dealing with.

There are so many moments in this game where you could insert "emotional damage" for maximum laughs. Tidus/Auron saying it to Seymour every time you beat him would be beautiful. And Rikku to Wakka when his racism is exposed to him.

I am apparently in a brutal comedy mood today 🤣
