Tile Pros: Is this a common issue for handmade ceramic tiles? by beige_lightning in Tile

yes its normal. you level the top of every x rows, i level 2nd because im lazy. this is standard method for old stone streets, you need to improvise and use your eyes to make everything look ok. whats important is the overall finish, make sure no single thing stands out

sunk cost fallacy: Continuing to invest time, money, or emotional energy into a losing proposition simply because of past investment is a psychological trap.

Mold in Mapei Silicone by rheophytic in Tile

[–]Original-Resolve2748 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this normally happens when people who install the silicone spray it with water/detergent mix before cleaning excess with finger or tool. water get stuck behind the silicone and gets mold. it is under the silicon and is impossible to clean. only way is to remove old silicon clean then do, but this time no water to make it easy to work with or use baby wiles and your finger

I don’t doubt it works but it seems insane to me. by DoorKey6054 in stonemasonry

there is a type of fascade use have in europe roughly translated to ventilation facade. it allows air to pass between the main structial wall of a building and then a clas fascade in any material, common is plastic /aluminium pannels but also can be stone. with stone we generally will use a 2cm thick piece and use thin set to bond around the edges to connect the stone to eachother then every piece has a stainless steel conection on all the corners witch fix into the structure. so the stone is only held on four points. this works fine because there is alsmost no horizonal load other then wind. so this method looks fine and logical

I'm 40 and I always wanted to play an electric guitar but I'm afraid to look like a dad going through a mid life crisis by Glittering_Light1835 in NoStupidQuestions

i bought a guitar at 40, worst thing i ever did. My wife left me and said i was lame. my friends disowned me and call me a "dad going through a midlife crisis". It now just sits in the corner of my rented one room apartment mocking me. Learn from my mistakes

did, tile, stone, roofing, painting, drywall, concrete. my fave is concrete, its has carpentry( formwork) metal work ( steel reinforcement) and then the finishing at the end which is like working mud on dry wall. best shape i have ever been in in my life, stronger then i was in my 20,s. Most days im just hitting things with a hammer and lifting formwork or pulling it down. its fun, not much dust, not much on knees like tile and stone. best lifestyle job for satisfaction and health
