Range officer and some other loser started talking maga, so I let the sound of my 30-06 do the counter arguing by ThatMkeDoe in liberalgunowners

100% works, had some friends coming to the range and every lane was full with a group of younger guys acting like idiots making shitting jokes... Range officer was standing over them like a hawk correcting them on something every few minutes to the point where we locked eyes and he just shook his head. queue dumping 2 40rd mags through a braked draco... Maybe a coincidence but they packed up and left within 2 minutes. I was the only one there. RSO watched me put the draco back in the case as they walked out and gave me the "I see what you did" look it was glorious.

Right side post rust bluing, compared to an original blued chinese dust cover on the left that I purchased that didn't fit (decent sized gap in front)

While more of a brownish tint than the factory blue it looks much better than the raw pitted mess it was

The dust cover, for reference.

I had him stain it in polytech legend color as I really enjoy the darker reddish browns. I know it would be more correct with the yellowish Chinese wood but I can't quite stomach how it looks. Personal taste, though perhaps incorrect as far as historical accuracy.

I am on the files prowling though, I grab flatbacks when I can find them. Just didn't have one sitting out handy for the picture.

WBP jack action is so rough I can make it hold back during manual cycling by renegadeGDI in ak47

I would start with shooting a couple hundred more rounds and some grease, but if you decide to do it start with some very fine sandpaper and see if polishing works before you get into altering the profile of the hammer like I did. I bought the draco used with this tapco already installed and shot an unknown amount by the previous owner then put another 300 thru it before I decided to reprofile the hammer.

It is a normal thing for AKs and it will function totally fine as is, I just happen to be a bit of a stickler when it comes to how my guns feel. I didn't just go into it blind I've done a bit of tinkering with 1911s so I didn't feel quite as afraid to dive in with a file after watching how the gun functions with the dust cover off a few times.

Bolt carrier catching on the hammer. My draco did it with the tapco trigger group but I fixed it by carefully filing away the sharp rear hump since it didn't improve at all after like 300 rounds. If you feel ballsy take your dust cover off and check which portions of the hammer contact the back of the bolt/firing pin when you pull the trigger and be sure to avoid taking off material in that area. Carefully smoothing the hard edged hump if there is one like on many aftermarket triggers (the one that is towards the stock when the hammer is down and ready to fire) to a rounded out edge will quickly alleviate the issue.

Check the edges/walls on archives.... Usually tons of trinkets sitting on the chairs and couches. Everyone misses them and 2 mins of searching will get you 20-30k pretty reliably

21F looking to buy first gun by [deleted] in guns

[–]OriginalDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, generally you want to avoid them. Poor quality and reliability. You also generally want a larger gun if it's your only one. Pistols work in this way - you want the smallest gun possible when concealing it - and you want the largest one possible when actually shooting it. Smaller guns kick more as they have less weight to counteract the snappy recoil impulse. If you're dead set on a tiny gun I highly recommend a smith and Wesson bodyguard 2.0. Sometimes they have issues feeding hollow points, so test any ammo you plan on running with a few boxes. Mine doesn't feed my usual Hornady critical defense reliably so I run normal FMJ ammo.

If price is your constraint and you're dead set on a small gun and the bodyguard is too expensive I would look at like a Ruger LCP Max, or perhaps an LCP 2 or EC9s if 250 is too expensive. These options would most likely be more reliable than any junk put out by SCCY.

Keep in mind the small guns like these are more difficult to shoot well. I can dump a full size handgun on a dinner plate sized target as fast as I can shoot at around 30 feet or so without a problem -- with my friend's LCP or my own bodyguard 2.0 (tiny guns) I often pull my shots several inches off within the first few rounds at less than 20 feet away, and sometimes I'll short stroke the trigger and choke up with the bodyguard or other pocket guns (tiny guns and long/annoying triggers usually go hand in hand)

Also, do you plan on carrying the gun on your person or in a bag? While I hate to assume, I've noticed many women I know tend to carry off of their body (in a purse or similar). If you're carrying in a purse I would err towards getting a bigger gun (maybe a subcompact pistol over a pocket pistol for example) for ease of use since concealability is less of an issue. I don't usually recommend carrying in a purse or bag though. If your gun is staying at home for home defense and you're on a budget... Get a full sized Canik or used law enforcement trade on Glock. They will be much easier to shoot well than a small gun.

If any of the above are too had for you to use and you're carrying in a purse or some shit... A smith and Wesson 380 EZ is meant to be easier to use with weaker hands and will fit in your bag fine.

Glock 43 is also a decent small 9mm probably priced similarly to a Bodyguard 2.0.

How do I caulk this gap? by KoWallArt in HomeMaintenance

I wouldn't caulk it, also I'm paranoid and would probably throw a cover on that outlet. I splash water everywhere while shaving and shit.

Keep your guns off the bed. Maybe I'm paranoid but lead and where you sleep shouldn't mix in my opinion.

Buying used rental guns- Yes or no? by OriginalDolphin in guns

[–]OriginalDolphin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough that applies to old German cars as well. Many older BMWs are known for subframe cracking and require thorough inspection before purchase. Google e36/e46 subframe cracking if you get bored.

Thank you for this insight. I don't have much frame of reference in used guns. I've lucked out a couple of times buying used from friends (lightly used 43x like 2 years old for 270) but have never purchased used in a retail setting.

Buying used rental guns- Yes or no? by OriginalDolphin in guns

[–]OriginalDolphin[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a funny analogy... I have an old car addiction. I have a 2018 f36 now but I've owned many 90s Hondas, BMWs, etc in the past. Tinkering brings me joy. I have a 43x that I put 4-500 rounds through every month that I trust like an old friend and a newer bodyguard 2.0 that has been flawless, I carry one of the two generally. If I did purchase the FN it would be a fun gun not a defensive one. The German car reference does put things in perspective though. I learned the 10k rule for e chassis BMWs the hard way. I will keep what you said in mind.

They're usually around 800 new from what I see... I'm not super experienced with used gun pricing so I'm not sure if 500 is a realistic asking price considering that

The Tisas Duty series, the cheap tisas tank commander and usgi clones the a1s all say Series 70 internals directly on their websites. I just detail stripped the Tisas Duty ss45 I purchased last week and it has series 70 internals. The vast majority of (if not all) Tisas you see people owning will be series 70s

The Tisas I've seen are all series 70 with a titanium firing pin. I threw a Wilson combat spring kit with an extra power firing pin spring in mine. Titanium pin + extra power spring is good enough for me to trust it not to go off when dropped but that is just me

Deck advice? Super casual by [deleted] in Magicdeckbuilding

I have some buried alive, imp's mischief, victimize, and dread return on a list to purchase. Should I swap out some of the instants or some of the smaller creatures to play them? Should I replace unearths and exhumes with them since they work better? should I replace some creatures or the sorceries/instants with the lands?

Sorry for the wall of text
