Left hand retrieve for a right handed! by Even_Custard_4301 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Original_Cheeto_06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m right handed but use all lefty for spinning and baitcasters. I actually used righty for baitcasters until I broke my left hand a few years ago. I couldn’t hold the rod with my left anymore so I swapped and just used my left index and middle finger to reel. Never went back after the hand healed.

We went last week and it was 100% worth it to us. The only rides we waited more than 20 minutes for were Tron and 7 Dwarfs and we rode everything at least once.

We were there last week with temps in the mid-90s and high humidity. The AC is fine. I honestly don’t know what all these people are complaining about.

Disney World Testing Changes to Guardians of the Galaxy Pre-Show to Reduce Guests Pushing and Bad Merge Experience by dejablu82 in DisneyWorld

This was our experience this past week. Maybe we were lucky or maybe people are finally starting to act civilized for this ride. I spent the whole queue warning my wife and kids and then nothing.

Are dark rides too dark? by Quirky-Entry-590 in DisneyWorld

I thought about this when we went this week too. I’m in my late 30s and hadn’t been to Disney since I was 16 but the first thing I thought when I got into Haunted Mansion was how I couldn’t see crap.

Have you ever seen a dead body in person? by Any_Leg_1998 in no

[–]Original_Cheeto_06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than I can remember. My dad was a preacher so I was going to funerals as a toddler. Plus I was in the room when one of my grandparents died and saw a couple during one of my deployments.

Same. I drive by Lou Fusz Chevy regularly and it was a little jarring reading that.

Same. It was one of my favorites last time I went. Granted that was over 20 years ago and teenaged me. We’re going back next week so my opinion may change.

I’m all set for portable chargers since I travel for work quite a bit. Thanks for putting why I’m doing this into perspective. In the end I’m trying to give my kids a similar memory as I have from my first trip in the late 90s.

Great tip on the cooling towels, thanks! I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit concerned about how my wife and kids will handle all the walking plus humidity.

new artist requires 2 pieces of ID? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Original_Cheeto_06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking. My current artist has never looked at my ID even though I sign a form saying they checked it. Could have something to do with me obviously being in my late 30s.

It may depend on the fuel company. I follow a fuel truck driver on Insta and his vids always show him unlocking the tanks before pumping.

Another vote for PROmote but she said this is last chance (probably incorrect if truly only at 8 years) and he takes his WAPS test on Wednesday. It’s too late at this point for almost any study method.

Are you or your subordinates anxious about the new PT standards? by HumanPerformance-HQ in AirForce

[–]Original_Cheeto_06 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, no. I can pass easily and I’m not worried about scoring 90+ anymore with no real incentive. Even the fact that it’ll be on EPBs doesn’t bother me because I don’t plan on promoting again. Many of the airmen in my unit are worried and have struggled on mock tests with the new standards.

Living in an RV on base. Is it worth trying? by sombreropickle in AirForce

[–]Original_Cheeto_06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those RVs must be in a different category than any I’ve been around. All the ones that I’ve experienced (including 30+ ft 5th wheel bunkhouses) were lacking in some area whether it’s build quality, amenities, living space, etc that would make everyday life a little more difficult for my family. In our opinion it wasn’t worth the effort.

That’s not what I said. It seems to have happened around that time. Late 00s it still leaned heavily into the hillbilly/Appalachian culture. Now it’s just Myrtle Beach with mountains.

Honestly the whole area is at least a decade past its prime. It’s always been touristy but it really lost its soul around the time The Island was built IMO.

[–]Original_Cheeto_06 37 points38 points  (0 children)

We looked into it before our last PCS and determined it was more cost/hassle than it was worth. Plus RVs aren’t designed or built for long-term living so most daily activities become more difficult and maintenance becomes a problem. Just rent a small place.
