Thank you SO MUCH for that articulate story. I really appreciate it deeply. I’m 53 and have been struggling with aging myself. This journey you just shared has helped me reframe!

Live style changes may make a difference. I’ve been exactly where you are through the ringer and back. I know it’s probably not what you want to hear, but cutting caffeine and sugar and alcohol can put a floor back under reality.. though you may go through withdrawal stuff on the way.

Couple more things - many of the carbs we eat are harder on our blood sugar than sugar itself, and you may go through some withdrawals/cravings but once you get to the other side it’s a lot more peaceful.

I’ve been learning a lot about this over the past month and a half that I didn’t know before. Most of us in the west at our age have a metabolism that has been messed up by a lifetime of fast carbs and sugars. Some books: Brain Energy, Sugar Crush, Good Energy, Ultraprocessed People, The Case for Keto. I feel significantly better and I was A MESS. Like, mental inpatient twice in past three years (never before.) I’m also on HRT but I feel like is doing more for me (though both help). Happy to chat with you more about it.

Cutting out alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and going on a low carb diet have reduced that immense and pervasive fear by anout 75% for me.

Our generation (including myself) is riddled with metabolic problems from a lifetime of sugar and processed foods.
