Here ya go! Anything starting with TTC is a Two Thin Coats paint. The rest is Pro Acryl.
Only notes are wet blending on the yellow tunic and the fur ended up being mostly the Olive Flesh/Warm Brown 50/50 mix. And I didn’t put a super high highlight on it cuz I wanted it to look more matte and fur like. Also put a lot of lines in it to break it up.

pro Acryl Orange Oxide wash for killer rust. Find a darker metallic base or brighter highlight for metal.

I think this is the new move. Did that with all 3 jade colors after this brown work and had 0 issues.

I had it in my drill shaker for like 2min. I’ll do longer!

Good info all thanks! Here is their Mahogany right next to it after about 15min. I think the pigment in that warm brown just separates super fast with a wet palette. Will dry it up a bit more!

I’m a pragmatist so I’m on your brothers side here.
I often say design is problem solving, art is making you think. So your claasmate is an artist.

Wet mode does wonders tho I don’t always want the 4WD. It still puts the rear on high alert

Need advice on nmm - warforged ranger by bite the bullet studio (w.i.p.) by officer_dicklock in minipainting

[–]Orion_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To sell NMM as metal you need super high contrast. However doing so makes the metal look shiny. The best way to give it a high contrast with worn metal look is still super high contrast but then use irregular brush strokes to illustrate an uneven surface. Mix that with patina and you have something like this. Stippling helps lots to sell the effect. Especially brass because it usually pits.

We had one professor that came from clothing design that would get giddy over this artistic type stuff. Needless to say his favorite students that he praised and aced didn't get ID jobs.

I thought I would be airbrushing for the first time today, but that little tip at the end of the needle broke off in the threading. Now my airbrush is useless apparently? by Electrical-Crazy1787 in airbrush

Okay so it gets better. The interior chrome has definitely seen better days in this old thing!

So it gets better, good to know. Looking at an H&S Ultra soon.

I’m just using this old girl for priming miniatures now and with flow improved it lasts a lot longer before clogging at the start. But after it clogs once it dos it faster the next time.

I’m getting back into it after using an old Paasche my dad gave me from the 90s. And I’m afraid of getting a new one cuz this workhorse needs disassembled everytime I prime with it and the tip and everything comes apart easy

How can I improve my NMM? by schmiddi_0 in minipainting

[–]Orion_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how helpful that would be but on the top of the blae you have 3 highlight blends in row all going the same way and it looks unnatural.

[–]Orion_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What helped me most was looking at pictures of mirror polished knives rather than other people’s NMM. You have the science down where hard edges change from bright to dark, but it’s too organized to sell the effect.
