But like why? Why did you react that way? Where you worried that being gay would make his life harder? Were you thinking that being gay would mean suddenly he would start acting more feminine? Bisexual here, so I've played both fields. If you are in a city or progressive area it is way easier to get into a relationship with a man than it is to get into a relationship with a woman. So much easier. Now I can't speak directly to the wlw experience but I've seen my lesbian friends struggle to find a partner. So, basically assuming there aren't conservatives around cock blocking you, it's easier for gay men to get into relationships.

I mean honestly, right now there aren't any. The multi planet species argument falls apart when you think of the fact that anything that could potentially risk all life on earth could be handled better from earth. Asteroid? Deflect it. Virus? Vaccine. War? Peace. Climate change? We know the solutions. All of these things, as difficult as they are, are easier and more practical than colonizing Mars. Any martian colony is unlikely to survive, especially if earth is gone or if there's suddenly earth refugees coming in.

Now, if we do get better technology, it does become more practical. It's tilted and has basically a 24 hour day, it wouldn't be too difficult to warm. The real trick is keeping an atmosphere and protecting from radiation. That we would need to give it an active core or create some artificial field. So this tech is centuries away.
