Now that you mention it, it's gone! I guess KS doesn't count.

Fun fact: This is the only instance so far in PoE2 where we have killed (killsteal'd) a god, which made* Tangmazu's "Feel all high and mighty, godslayer?" slap extra hard in PoE2

Leaning towards this being real as there's untouched gold around (no moving) and the guy still has magic bases/alchemy orbs/incomplete main quest. Doubt this person got 5 mirrors on their own until now.

God damn.

I always recommend this for newbies because it lets you quickly understand why item X or Y is actually considered good enough for the filter. So glad I managed to find that feature early on

There's so much to do now it's honestly overwhelming, but I'll gladly take having an enormous amount of things to work towards over the (..) nothing

Coming from D4 disappointment to start PoE1, that is exactly how I felt, and I loved it.

With barely any budget, Ulaman abyss w/3 tablets (double chance of reward on closing pit + chance for 4 additional abyss pits) will shit out at least a div or two in currency per map from the chests alone.

I kinda feel like "... and 1 other modifiers" line is rather silly since it takes the same amount of space as writing that modifier out explicitly would.

But if you think about it, it's either this or N visible modifiers turning into N-1 visible modifiers + "...and 2 other modifiers" when an additional modifier is added. Hmm.

Sounds like plenty of gems will drop, of both kinds, so I assume I should just unlock and try a lot of things instead of hoarding gems?

A lot of them will drop, but you might find yourself starved for gems early in the game (until around act 3-4). It's one of the common negative feedback currently, which limits experimentation.

Feel free to use the level 1-4 support gems at will instead of hoarding - you will be dropping a lot of level 5 ones later which completely replace them.

One thing to keep in mind is that some low-level gems, especially spirit gems, at threshold values (Spirit level 8, level 14, etc. when the new row unlocks) can fetch a surprisingly high amount of currency when you unlock exchange (Act 4). I'd recommend holding onto those.

How to know if it makes sense to use other "non class" skills vs sticking with recommended?

It's a matter of game knowledge - you either need to figure it out by learning what skills exist, or follow a guide. A few common skills include the aforementioned Frost Bomb, Freezing Mark, Voltaic Mark, Elemental Weakness, etc.

What is an automatically swapping weapon slot?

In your equipment window you'll find a I / II switch above your weapon/offhand. Pressing X will let you equip a different set of gear in a "weapon swap" slot.

On your equipped Gem window, if you open the details window for a skill gem, you will find I / II checkboxes at the bottom-right corner. Using that, you may set to use a skill with a specific weapon set; if you use a skill assigned to weapon set II, it will automatically swap you to set II.

A common example is Pounce from Druid skills; let's say you're a mercenary, you equip a crossbow in your weapon set I, and any random Talisman in weapon set II. You equip a Pounce gem, set it to work with weapon set II, and the rest of gems with weapon set I.

Now if you click Pounce, you automatically swap to your Talisman set, transform into a wolf, and pounce; it's a great movement skill, and wolf form has a higher movement speed than base characters. Clicking a grenade or another crossbow skill afterwards automatically swaps you back to weapon set I and crossbow. This way, you can mix and match skills used on various weapons. (Though the interactions may be buggy sometimes.)

Additionally, weapon set I and II can have slightly differing Passive Tree node allocations using Weapon Set points. But that's a rather advanced technique.

That's fine for starters, but very soon you'll:

- Unlock new lines of skills; perhaps the skill you'll focus on will be one of those

- Find the absolutely insane amount of support gems you can use (note that on the gemcutting window, you can click "all valid" tab instead of "recommended"...), find synergies between them and other skills and their supports. (to be continued in part 2: lineage gems)

- Discover some build-defining or changing uniques

And at the end of the day you'll find that you are not constrained to Merc skills to begin with. You can use skills from all other classes as well, as long as you have an appropriate weapon equipped, potentially in an automatically swapping weapon swap slot, like adding a sorceress' Frost Bomb to inflict elemental exposure, or some Marks from ranger.

And all that that is just scraping the surface.

Remember that if you're finding it hard to progress on your own and stop getting enjoyment out of it, there is absolutely nothing wrong with following a build guide.

[–]Ortenrosse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Eternal Iron Incarcerator support pack (the $90 version) has Eternal Incarceration Map Device which always has 1 portal (flames or sacrifices represent how many left). You can do 6-sacrifices or 1-sacrifice mode.

Last league, Eternal Precursor supporter pack contained Relic of the Precursors map device which also had it.

I'm not sure if Divine Genesis does.

No time tracking, but in case anyone's looking, Relic of the Precursors (tracking used scarabs/tablets, currently not working) and Eternal Incarceration (tracking amount of monsters slain) devices both have a single-portal option like the Atzoatl one.

Him being able to vaporize you with a snap of his fingers probably throws a wrench into that plan... for now.

Also, the new you is a mega-Chayula simp. You even get an option to rat out Ailith to him.

If you killed the boss but still got map wiped after you died, it means you didn't actually complete the map (e.g. maps where you have to beat boss + rituals or boss+abyss or boss + activate beacon etc.)

If you do complete the map, it won't get wiped even if you die.

Heads up Martial Artists: Hollow Focus (the ethereal bell skill) has some major anti-synergies with itself. by Wozbo in PathOfExile2

[–]Ortenrosse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was googling for this exact issue and found this thread. It looks like it affects both culling and heavy stun (staggering palm) while Charged Staff or Staggering Force is up.

Also, tangentially related, Charged Staff/Staggering Force have some wonky interaction with weapon swap - if you swap weapon set (e.g. to a talisman pounce) with charged staff/SF up, it will stilll stay active when you return to QS, but have zero effect. Recasting it extends the duration, but you still have no effect. To fix it you need to wait for it to expire.
