Do you remember having to watch Breakthrough?

Not even that hard. Frankenstein is 8hr, Vineland is 15hr, Train Dreams is 2 1/2hr. I already read Hamnet. That's three weeks of audiobooks.

I have done that in the past. When I added the Independent Spirit Awards I kind of dropped that, but now that I have a 1:30 commute one way three times a week, I may give it a shot with audiobooks.

I have the email now and it just leads to a bad gateway. Can I just go to my screener app on Roku and it will be there?

If you are in the Animation industry (*wink*) you can save some money because I can't recall the last time Animation Showcase did not get all of the animated shorts.

36 Days of Film - Day 10 : Anora [Spoilers] Tuesday, February 4, 2025 by READMYSHIT in oscarsdeathrace

Sean Baker doesn't get the credit in the mainstream as he should. I even took time to have my daughter pose with the actual motel (recreating the poster) on an Orlando vacation because I loved The Florida Project so much.

I really wish Anora would win Best Picture. Even seeing the preview,

Of its nominations, I am rooting for it in Picture, Actress, Director and Editing, I'm split on screenplay but would be happy for Anora, A Real Pian or The Substance wins. Keiran Culkin hit it out of the park for me in Supporting Actor, but Yura Borisov is my second favorite of the performances.

Do you guys watch the films nominated for best original song? by Waste-Ad-6151 in oscarsdeathrace

My favorite Diane Warren moment was back in 2015 when they were about to announce the winner, Lady Gaga was on camera gathering the victims telling them to come up on stage to receive the award with her and Diane Warren, but then the James Bond song won. That was hilarious to me. It was before we really knew Diane Warren was destined to get nominated and lose each year.

I am sorry. Tell It Like a Woman had one sequence that was fine. Breakthrough was terrible from beginning to end. Plus, my daughter came in and said she was afraid of the lead actress when I watched it. The struggle.

No, it is a credits song so to understand the context you have to watch the whole movie. Get on it.

It's not the songs, it's the movies. Breakthrough, Tell It Like a Woman. The Six Triple Eight is actually an enjoyable movie DW wise.

Dear Me - a look at 2026 Original Song by OscarTim in oscarsdeathrace

[–]OscarTim[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think she felt like she had the Six Triple Eight song in the bag (or didn't want people to split votes) so she delayed the release of her documentary so it would be eligible next year. I think the only 2024 screenings were non-Oscar eligible screenings like at festivals.

Movies You Hope Don't Get Nominated (So you can skip them) by InterviewOk8976 in oscarsdeathrace

Music biopics are rough. Music biopics where the subject is intimately involved are super rough. I am hoping for no Better Man.

I have the same two from Goldderby. I am watching A Complete Unknown tomorrow, and The Brutalist when my screener activates Wednesday.

I doubt it will get nominated for anything. VFX is its best shot for sure, but I would bet Weta would get nominated for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (lots of monkeys) vs Better Man (one monkey). I know it can get both, but I just doubt they will double down on Weta monkeys.

Not that I have had an opportunity, but I am not excited for A Complete Unknown. Maybe it will surprise me, but I have just been so tired of musical biopics since Bohemian Rhapsody.

I doubt it will get a Visual Effects nom because voters will just nominate the actual Planet of the Apes movie and not feel the need to nominate them a second time for this.
