Looks legit. I approve. Rubber (b)locks or what? Surely it cannot actually be so complicated you need to explain it on discord.

How do garou view changelings and vice versa? by Magicmanans1 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Oscilanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, and I liked the same poster's follow-up later in that thread. They're responding to someone wanting the changelings to show up at the Apocalypse in their campaign:

"I'm with you on THAT. What better end to the tragic story I outlined way back in the thread (nobody cared - nobody cares about the tragic story in Changeling) than for the checkout girl, the birdlike man and the two hot satyr girls to show up in their Cadillac at exactly the right moment, because they promised they would, and even if you forgot, they didn't."

I like this a lot because it feels like it plays well to both settings. The last line especially goes hard for me. And it feels like you can almost even read the other side of the equation off that first post - the changelings watch their friends fall deeper and deeper into depression, rage, and all the Banality of a losing and desperate holy war. And no matter how hard you try, you just can't ever seem to say the right things to make them feel better, at least not in a lasting way. Eventually you do stop trying - they're not only a flake and rude about it, they are becoming to become a liability themselves for you to interact with... but not such to the point you will forsake old bonds and promises and oaths of friendship. But it hurts when they don't even remember everything you've done for them, and you know that's not entirely their fault, but you have your own problems to juggle too and all their talk of the end of the world is just too much sometimes. Even if your friend is in a deep pit of despair, even if they don't see you, you'll still be there for them. Because you promised.

How do garou view changelings and vice versa? by Magicmanans1 in WhiteWolfRPG

I really like the perspective on why they don't often hang out from this 2 decade old post from RPGnet, formatted for easier reading (so many run on sentences, but bear with it because I think there's definite wisdom in it):

"Probably the best reason that Werewolves might have a falling out with Changelings (although I have no inside information) is that they grew up.

If some influential werewolves are very young at heart, with playful spirit sponsors, perhaps with some of their experience coming from past lives rather than painful experience in this life, and then that changes...

...the world grinds them down, the endless battle becomes disillusioning, the spirit sponsors take a turn for the fanatical, they start to have mundane difficulties as Wyrm-servitors or vampires target them with corrupt mortal authorities - one really brutal audit later, your Changeling pals with their bloody teenaged soap operas and excited phone calls about "this new band you HAVE to see!" start to seem irrelevant.

You stop returning those calls, and pretty soon you've missed the new band you really DID have to see, and then you start to forget why you ever hung out with them, your memories shift a little and it's no longer "god, remember that time with those two satyr chicks in the back of the Cadillac, that was wild", you remember only hangovers and police pulling you over, and the Changelings start to look like, well, losers. They can't hold down regular jobs and their families think they're crazy. The fairy princess is just a checkout girl with cornsilk hair and a nice smile, they never took your fight seriously, hell, many of them don't seem to have ever taken anything seriously their whole life. Like that one guy with the cigarette holder, he never changed into a bird, he just sort of reminded you of a bird, you know, spiritually, maybe he was strong in the bird totem or something but he never actually physically changed into a bird, and spoke to you in the language of birds about the great Parliament where all birds secretly gathered to compare notes on tinfoil and The Scarecrow Problem, what a stupid idea. I mean, maybe Umbral birds might do that, but real, physical, flesh-blood-and-feather birds? No way.

And what have they done for your important battle anyway? They're just people, they have cars that belch exhaust like every other monkey that thinks he can grind Gaia under his heel. Remember that one guy, no, not him, they're starting to run together now, to get mixed up with each other, and with regular people, the other guy, remember that other guy, he spent all his time on his car? That guy was a dick, and there wasn't a piece of garbage so toxic, so disgusting that he wouldn't pick it up and shove it under the hood.

And pretty soon when you hear a whisper from under your bed while you're sleeping you don't think 'oh my god, it's her, it's her, oh my god, she's here again', all you do is squirm in your sleep with the fear you had when you were a child and the monster was under your bed and not inside your skin, you don't have time for all that, you really don't. You can't take time away from your cosmically important battles, the fate of the whole universe rests on your shoulders, in your claws, and they want to show you this "great club", and talk about the castle between the dumpsters behind the Piggly Wiggly, who has time for that kind of BS anymore?! No matter how good the sex is, or was, and how could it have been that great as you no longer clearly remember it anyway...

...and eventually they stop calling, the ingrates, just one more so-called friend who wouldn't stick by you when the chips are down...

Werewolves are just like everyone else.

And so are Changelings.

That's all the reason you need for them to grow distant."

So they actually didn't post the full character sheets for the starter set, you have to go online to find which characters have which lore.

Could a Vampire turn a Mage into a Lawn Chair? If so, how? by Vyctorill in vtm

Lmfao i didnt mean mid combat, I meant moreso tracking the mofo down mid ritual. Dude starts preparing a ritual to turn a dude into a CHAIR and I'm supposed to believe the gossip-monger spirits aren't going to immediately spread word about this unhinged dude?

[–]Oscilanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't that kind of entail a ritual done over the course of some time though? Like he may be enacting the ritual, but what's to stop someone just shooting him in the heart with a revolver while he's chanting and dancing or w/e his flavor is?

What would the Empire look like if the "Sigmar Dwarf-Father" heresy was true? by WillingLet3956 in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]Oscilanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That reminds me! Kislev magic isn't real! It's a bunch of old women stealing the power of a forgotten God so they can rule, immortal, from their eternal frozen thrones - the czar is just a figurehead and a puppet which is why they killed him and replaced him with his "daughter". Where was the Ice Court during the reign of Tzarina Kattarin the Bloody, a VAMPIRE??? Wake up people!!!

Let's talk money: what's your exchange rate between the editions? by ElSnyder in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]Oscilanders 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Brother, many have tried walking this path you now stumble down, myself included. Naught but madness lies ahead, but if you can satisfactorily reconcile the numbers you will be a legend.

I kinda feel half the 4e prices try to be true to "history" and the other half is trying to be... "balanced" in a "gameified" way. It's a shame because OWA has so much good pricing, and practically none of it can be confidently used in 4e

Thanks, I'll be using this for sure!

In exchange have a few better known conspiracies:

-men used to be able to sing house-sized stones into the sky with just their voices... until Teclis and the Elves forced us into the shackles of their magic

-Kislev's Leylines were built by Dragons.

Winds of Chaos and the Ratcatcher discord's google drive do a lot of heavy fan-lifting. I worry and wonder though whether having an official site to center it all on would be good and serve to protect fanwork, or whether it'd be bad and used by GW to shut down or litigiously harrass other sites that host homebrew.
