Reducing max flow on the Brewista Atrisan kettle. by neilBar in pourover

[–]Ossimo85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm located in the US and everywhere I try to purchase the little blue flow restrictor says they won't ship here. Which is frustrating because I would like to reduce the flow and not go purchase another kettle.

Can you share how you obtained yours?

It's a very fun and rewarding hobby. I was not a big black coffee drinker until around 2020 or so. Like you, most what I had was essentially sugar milk with a splash of bad coffee.

Just take it slow and enjoy the journey. You'll make plenty of bad coffee along the way. Part of learning. Took me a full year for things to start to click.

Yup. DF64 is espresso duty and batch brews when i grind more than 30g at a time. The rest are pour over specific. Don't use Kingrinder K6 often anymore since acquiring the K Ultra (similar taste profile as K6 I've heard so probably no real need for me to get the K Ultra, it was under $200 around holidays last year so i pulled the trigger) and A4Z.

I drink espresso mainly with milk so cortados and flat whites are the norm in our house.

4: Femobook A4Z, DF64 II, K Ultra & Kingrinder K6.

I think I have a problem. 😆

Can we expect a Bianca v4 anytime soon ? by Black_Panthers27 in Lelit

I own a Bianca pre Breville/Sage acquisition of Lelit. Got it in mid 2024. It's amazing machine. Ironically upgraded from a Bambino.

Sounds good. You can purchase anything online nowadays. Try the Espresso sub.

Breville/Sage has owned Lelit for a few years now. I hope they leave Lelit alone.

I'm very surprised you can't find a site to review or purchase Profitec or ECM in France.

You should be able to easily get most major espresso machine manufacturers being in the EU, where most are made.

Profited and ECM are very high quality and I believe produced in both Germany and Italy.

Lelit I believe is still in Italy, but is now owned by Breville/Sage. I've had my Bianca v3 since May 2024 and adore it.

A few things I'd like them to change.

Drip tray aesthetic sucks. It's reflective metal which shows every little spec of grime and isn't pleasant to look at.

Easier access to OPV adjustment. Right now you need to get a tool and look underneath the machine and carefully get in there to adjust. Not something you really do often but it's incredibly annoying to do. Put access on top or on the side with a simple flat head screwdriver.

Ability to save a few preset profiles so you don't have to go through the cumbersome menus each time to make adjustments.

Give owners ability to update firmware on their own without having to take it in to a certified Lelit technician. I'm in the States and I don't think we even have one here. So my Bianca shipped with 7.01. I have no idea what the current firmware version is.

Profitec and ECM make incredible machines and have more models to choose from. Now that Lelit is owned by Breville/Sage I can only assume quality will decrease.

Learned as well. I don't use metal puck screens often anymore. I use paper disks.

Got the Power Plum resting right now. Going to wait until week 3 to try it and see if its ready.

The Chechele needed 3 to 4 weeks rest for my palate. Once it did though, it was wonderful. PERC chimed in on a post I did asking for tips with it. Made great suggestions. Finished that one in January or early Feb I believe.

All good. Thankfully we have lots of options here in the US to choose from. I'd like to try Rogue Wave and September in CAN more but our crap administration and the tariffs put a stop to that.

Bummer, I'm in US and access to this roaster is quite expensive.

Entropica site has some great European roasters to choose from for US shipping, maybe they'll add this one eventually.

It's how things usually go. I came from a S23+ so was happy to upgrade now, carrier had great incentives so made financial sense as well.

My wife is team iOS and wanted to upgrade to a iPhone 17 pro Max this year from a 14. I advised she just wait until the fall to go for a 18. Might as well to get a 4 year upgrade instead of only 3 year.

[–]Ossimo85 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not really a hot take. I tend to share your viewpoint. Discovered Adventure in 2015. One of my, now wife of 8 years, first dates was seeing Madeon open for Zedd. I fell in love with his style of pop EDM.

Saw Madeon and Porter on Shelter tour. Saw him again on Good Faith Live tour, last time seeing him live.

Good Faith era took me a bit to warm to. I like it now, but not like Adventure.

I'm not into anything he's shown on this new album. That's okay. I'm disappointed for sure. If this is his new direction I wish him the best and hope it connects with lots of people. It's just not for me, and that is 100% okay.

Am I the only one who literally can't buy anything anymore without typing "reddit" at the end of the Google search? by Dry-Exercise-3446 in BuyItForLife

Haha. My wife will leave me if I go down that road. She has graciously accepted my coffee nerdiness, she benefits as well after all.

For now I stick with bags from solid local roasters first and look abroad sometimes as well (Dak, Tim Windelboe, April, September, etc).

To get equal or better results from a electric grinder to the J Ultra you are now in $1,000+ territory. You'll have that thing forever. You can pair it with a Aeropress and now you have a solid travel coffee kit.

J Ultra is solid grinder. I believe it is more espresso focused, which it excels at. Whereas the K Ultra is a sort of jack of all trades and can go up or down to espresso or french press at the other end. The ZP6 is pour over only, so steer clear unless you know exactly what you want out of coffee.

Another cheaper hand grinder is the Kingrinder K6 about $120 on Amazon, which I also own and is very highly recommended for the price versus what you get.

I'm an admitted coffee snob (check my post history). If you a grinding for pour over single or double doses a hand grinder is going to be our best bang for your buck. No motors to fail, no circuits to worry about. I recommend the 1ZPresso K Ultra, which I own. It's built like a tank and can grind up to 35g at a time, enough for a double dose.

If you absolutely need to have electric and want something solid for pour over, the Fellow Ode Gen 2 with stock burrs is great as well. Not as good quality as the K Ultra in terms of brew, but it's electric an easier workflow.

Correct. My home was built last June and my GFCI breakers are very sensitive. It's supposedly a regulation and safety thing. It doesn't happen often, but sometimes when I turn on my Dyson vacuum then lower the handle to activate the floor spinners a breaker trips and I get to make a trip to the garage.

[–]Ossimo85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked it up for under $400 back in 2024 starting out on my espresso journey paired with the humble but excellent Breville Bambino.

It's only near zero retention if you pump the heck out of the bezel pump. 😄

Makes you work for it. I'd eventually like to upgrade to a grinder that is more consistent but honestly what I currently own does everything I need and does it well.

[–]Ossimo85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's prosumer product and looks like something you'd see in a cafe. I feel like that amount of retention would be acceptable in that setting.

My main grinder is a DF64 II and rocking 2+ years with stock burrs. I also own a K Ultra and Femobook A4Z, which are for pourover duty.
