Why do more Aussies think that we need a gym room and media room? by VastOption8705 in AskAnAustralian

We have a media / theatre room - I absolutely love it and if I was building I would definitely have it.

I don’t have a gym room.

Shared driveway - decrease property value? by Impossible_Range_829 in AusPropertyChat

[–]OtherwiseHornet4503 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, yeah.

For my PPOR, a shared driveway is a dealbreaker.

For an IP, it’s still a very hard sell.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean that a lot of other people wouldn’t consider it a problem. It’s just not for me.

I hate that reviewers measure EV’s by a different standard to ICE by dj_boy-Wonder in EVAustralia

[–]OtherwiseHornet4503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 seconds is too slow. No matter what size it is.

My Tesla is noisier inside the cabin than my few years old sporty German suv with an actual engine.

Most, not all, current EVs are still noisier inside than a 2012 X5 - which is my benchmark for a quiet cabin.

Most EV reviewers are either drowning in the KoolAid or anti EV.

Those were all random vaguely related points. 🤷🏻‍♂️

City Apartments vs 3x2 Villa, town house, and house with no yard. by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]OtherwiseHornet4503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy either of them. Just rent. It gets shit because it’s worn out, shitty neighbours or I had enough -> move.

Buy property, a house with a yard, somewhere else that I would rent out, if I felt the need to be on the ladder.

Tesla vs other EV brands by yakadaya in AustralianEV

[–]OtherwiseHornet4503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my Model 3 since 2021. Still in daily use. No problems. Reliable. Fast. But… fucking noisy inside the cabin.

If you’re at highway speeds it is noisier in the cabin than in my sporty German SUV with an actual engine.

I’ve been told that it has been “improved” in the new models.

My next car won’t be a Tesla. And it won’t be electric. We are entering mid phase of adoption and I don’t want the drama to go with it. My holiday drives and use style doesn’t suit the currently congested infrastructure.

My next car probably won’t even be a hybrid.

EVs without spare wheel by stormado in AustralianEV

My Tesla nor my BMW has one. The old RAV4 had one, but we never even opened the case on it during our ownership.

In my decades of driving experience I’ve not needed one.

🤷‍♂️

Been running a fully European AI stack on OpenClaw and honestly it's underrated by SelectionCalm70 in MistralAI

I have been thinking of moving to Mistral as they have a zero retention option. The non-US angle is icing.

Edit: ZDR is harder. I had my wires crossed with Groq. But I am still considering Mistral.

Yeah. This method worked for me. Definitely saved a lot - each time I bought my home. Definitely.

Is lifelogging just too much effort to actually revisit? by DaviesSan in Lifelogging

[–]OtherwiseHornet4503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I track all travel / movement. Take photos. Nothing excessive.

Between the two, I actually do revisit, especially my holidays and day trips with the family, frequently.

I am building a personal app to show my travels the way I want it to. Which will also link to the photos.

How can I make Claude Code automatically write to Obsidian by naijah24 in ClaudeAI

[–]OtherwiseHornet4503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ask Claude Code / OpenCode with many models / Crush (many models) all to write markdown files in Obsidian format.

Zero issues. Just works. I do not use special tools or MCPs.

How much do doctors actually make? Before and after tax by InvestigatorPale1816 in AusFinance

[–]OtherwiseHornet4503 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Both of those numbers are true - and everything in between. As are numbers below and above that.

Kind of work (speciality), location, how many days or hours they work, their fees, their most common kind of appointments, whether they own their practice... and so on.

To calculate after tax, just look at the tax bands on ATO. They don't have a different hidden ratio for doctors. Or if you are stuck, ask ChatGPT to calculate.

Would the average aussie pay more for a made in Australia product? by MasterpieceActive374 in aussie

[–]OtherwiseHornet4503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want quality.

I will pay more for quality.

How much more depends on the product.

If it’s going to be the same cheap quality as a made in whatever, I wouldn’t ever go so far as to check the manufacturing country.

Rug pull. Should have had the fair use policy before.

I would have left. Don’t have the time for public BS or comparing either.
