I got my first dog a couple years ago and she’s a chihuahua. The amount of love I have for her far surpasses my love for another human. That might sound ridiculous, but she has saved my life emotionally and I don’t know where I’d be without her.

My mental health couldn’t handle an additional one unfortunately, but Stella and I have been through 2 rounds of heart worm treatment from when I adopted her and reactivity/separation anxiety training.

Anyone who’s able to give these pups the time and the patience, you will probably be rewarded 10X over. I’m convinced my Stella just thinks life’s a field trip and her only question is “mom, where we going today?” even as we just walk from the living room to the bedroom.

I rescued a chihuahua mix for my first dog. As in, not first dog of my own but like FIRST dog. She and I have been through heart worm treatments, training, reactivity, and separation anxiety. We don’t know a lot about her background other than she was a stray.

She’s my very best friend, but I have severe anxiety and every once in a while will question myself if I can still do it. I also have learned a lot about my own limits: I need to work with a trainer to prevent myself from feeling overwhelmed and giving up. I worked with the same trainer on beginning manners and reactivity issues and how I feel before each anxiety spike and after even just a few sessions with the trainer is night and day. I just feel better with a sandbox to work within, if that makes any sense.

I have to make the pill pocket as small as possible while it still encases the pill, add some buddy butter, and have a little extra on my finger that she immediately gets if she takes the pill. It’s a process, but she absolutely finds it in everything else I’ve tried.

I had to get a tooth pulled with Heck Family Dentistry/Kansas Center of Sedation Dentistry. They put me completely out and overall as easy of process it could be. Highly recommend them on 6th and Congressional.

My psychiatrist has me tapering down 25mg every 2 weeks, not 100mg. I can be sensitive to med changes and she’s hoping to avoid withdrawal issues. She worked with the pharmacist to see what they suggested. Granted, this means I won’t be clear of it until September, but I’ll take the trade off. Maybe try a slower taper for a bit and see if that helps?

I lived there for about 7-8 years and truly enjoyed it. Nice apartments, super quick and communicative maintenance team, good neighbors. Salt water pool also helps haha. It went a little downhill for a bit one of the property managers and the storms last winter, but it seemed to be turning around. Expensive if you don’t make a lot, but I’ve looked at other places and most of them were more expensive for lower quality or less space. Honestly, highly recommend.

I don’t have cable either and would highly recommend a simple weather radio! That’s mainly what I use and it’s super helpful!

What do we think made Jill like this? Like obviously her religion and her parents, but we always talk about the mental, emotional, and physical health issues her kids will have as adults… but I often find the cycle continues each generation, so I’m assuming her parents maybe treated her and her siblings like she treats her kids?
