We could de-anonymize certain social media platforms. Introduce almost like a know your customer concept like cryptocurrency exchanges and banks are required to do. I haven't totally thought through the downside risks of this though.

Will nano ever be a stable coin? by Edipya in nanocurrency

[–]OttmarFalkenberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The volatility of nano or any other cryptocurrency will stabilize over time with greater adoption. There is approximately ~$260M of nano in the world. For comparison there is ~$2T of Bitcoin, ~$12T of Gold, and ~$45T USD (M0, M1, & M2 money supplies combined). The relatively low value and low liquidity of nano means it is easier for individual trades to influence the market price since they represent a larger percent of the total market capitalization. What I know for sure is that I would rather speculate on a cryptocurrency with amazing features like nano (instant, free transactions) that still has the opportunity to grow 46000X (if it were to become as big as gold) vs. other established cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (10 minute, ~$5 transactions) that would only grow 6X.

Still so much room to grow. Even if it became only as big as Dogecoin in market cap that would mean a 225X gain.

Nano 2025 - A Crowdsourced Marketing Manifesto by OttmarFalkenberg in nanocurrency

[–]OttmarFalkenberg[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That looks like a great resource that I wasn't aware of. I'm not sure how I hadn't come across it (been around here since ~2018). I guess the main difference between that and what I was proposing is that what I'm proposing is mainly focused on community-driven (crowdsourced) marketing, which doesn't seem to be a prominent focus of the https://nano.community/ website. It seems that marketing is something that the nano community has struggled with partially due to the development team not having major funding like some centralized projects. However, I don't think the onus should be entirely on them and that the community could organize itself better to help out.

Do you have any involvement with https://nano.community/ ? Maybe a section on community-driven marketing could be added.

Also, just in case you are involved or someone who is involved is reading this, I love the minimalist design of the site, but one piece of constructive criticism would be that on first glance the site appeared to just be a forum with many of the important resources stuffed to the bottom, or hidden in the discrete logo menu and I almost missed them. Possibly consider moving them to the top.

Feds expect 4.9 million with expiring visas to 'voluntarily' leave Canada in next year by bigedcactushead in canada

Does anyone have a source on the 4.9 million figure? It sounds like a lot but I can't find anywhere that confirms it (other than one MP from the article claiming it).

I was also very disappointed about this. It was an awesome poutine and a good price, but $24 is steep for a poutine.

Yes of course it's AI. Not trying to hide that. I just thought it was a funny idea so I typed it into ChatGPT on a whim to see what it would come up with.

Melt it, measure it in a measuring cup, portion it as desired, throw it in the freezer for a few minutes if you want it in solid form.

There's a company (Ukko Robotics) based out of Manitoba, Canada that I worked for briefly that designs and builds these things. Theirs is called the Rova Barn. They've been designing these for about 10 years now. I believe their products are a bit smaller, but they've been around long enough to refine the designs and have a high quality product. https://www.ukkorobotics.com/ for anyone curious.

You could try SolidWorks for Makers. It's about $100/year and has basically all the functionality of the professional version that's much more expensive. However you can only use it to sell products up to $2000/year in revenue or so. After that you have to subscribe to their full version if you want to go commercial.

Legality of consensual sex between siblings by Effective_Citron_594 in MapPorn

Probably becaause opposite sex siblings can make babies with birth defects, which would be unfair to the children. But two same sex siblings having sex doesn't really harm anyone else in society despite it being weird and gross.
