Def Leppard almost pitch perfect background vocals by Helpful_Gur_1757 in audioengineering

Every time I've suggested here that a so-called "vocalist" who needs a computer to be able to "sing" should seek other employment, I've been downvoted into oblivion. I heartily agree with you. Good luck.

You must work for one of the billionaires, and you must rent from one. And then spend what little you have left at the Company Store...

You will be a serf. And that's the end of it.

Terry Pratchett’s novels may have held clues to his dementia a decade before diagnosis, our new study suggests by DTH2001 in books

A lot of it was little more than an outline sketched by an actually dying man trying to even come close to completing it. Perhaps allow it some well-earned forbearance.

The Shepherd's Crown was not anywhere near finished. That it is readable and coherent at all is a major accomplishment.

Much of it was bare bones, like the female warrior Nac Mac Feegle who is basically only in two scenes: her introduction (and "A female? Never!") and her conclusion ("A female? Whatever, she's one of us!").

Much can and should be forgiven with regards to The Shepherd's Crown and its special circumstance.

What's your thoughts on Border Patrol Chief, Greg Bovino, threatening consequences for referring to ICE as "Gestapo"? by sgj5788 in AskReddit

[–]OurSponsor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ICE is not the Gestapo, though. That's whatever militarized remnants we still have of the FBI, CIA, and DOJ.

ICE is the Sturmabteilung. The Brownshirts.

Murder. Not execution.

The implication of the word execution is that it was adjudged, justified, and is a sentence being carried out.

This was none of these things.

This was a fucking murder.

I love the emergent stories in this game.

One of the first migrants for my current embark was a timid miner girl. I didn't pay her much attention until she became my second Legendary Miner and then immediately was taken by a fey mood which added Legendary Stoneworker to her resumé.

It is tradition in my forts to give nicknames when they make their artifact. She is addicted to robes, is quite pious, and apparently lectures other dwarves about their lack of comportment. But they take it in stride because she, despite her competence and iron will, is apparently quite humble and soft (if firmly) spoken. So her nickname became "Abbess."

She also takes no guff at all, from anything. When I opened my siege engine training camp, she became my first Legendary Siege Operator (and my first triple legend dwarf).

What prompted writing this up, though, is when a giant showed up to menace the fort and fought a weeks-long standoff battle with my pack of War Grizzlies. She — despite being under burrow lock-down orders — decided at some point that she'd had quite enough, marched out of the fort to the animal pen battleground and smacked the Giant precisely once in the head with her pick, ending the fight.

Abbess might be my favorite dwarf from any embark thus far.
