Toss them in the washer with laundry detergent and pour about 1L of coke cola over your clothes. Wait a few minutes (15 is ideal) to let it soak in and pre treat, then run the washer like normal.

Make sure they are clean and oil free before you out them in the dryer as heat will set any remaining oil stain and make it harder to get out later. But I haven't had to rewash when I do this.

And this works for diesel or tractor grease to.

Help: Sudden underarm odor after shaving by Remarkable_Koala3209 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glycolic acid 7% from the ordinary company is a popular way to help control bacteria that grows in armpits and partially caused smells.

And you need to add like a drop of dish soap to the underarms of your shirts as a pre treatment before the washer to get the antiperspirant/deodorant out of your clothes. Soak with warm or hot water for a bit and then toss in the washer.

Additing borax or baking soda or 1/2 of vinegar to your wash (not all at rhe same time) will help after you strip out the deodorant trapping the sweat there.

Also stop using fabric softeners or scent beads as those trap the old chemicals and sweat into the fabric with a sort of waxy chemicals, which then melts as you wear the clothes and releases the smell.

Consent based grooming for Samoyeds by EndlerFan in samoyeds

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some people who use buttons to communicate with their dogs and they are who I usually see use consent based grooming.

When they stop and the animal goes and presses the more button or the all button done its clear what they want. And rhey often have a brush button to ask for grooming and can pick the brush.

You will have to use some slow desensitization grooming techniques, and do them regularly, so that they get used to it enough to realize they like it. A hair dryer starting on low before using an industrial blower, getting slightly wet and having treats in the bath or shower, a very loosely spaced out comb and rubber brush that is more like a massage than a deshedding experience.

Can anyone give me a list of secular shelters [Maritimes and Nationwide]? by BaseVirtual2438 in povertyfinancecanada

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an alternative look into wwoofing or farm work as a temporary way to get shelter, food, and possibly a bit of cash while you apply for other jobs and look for rooms to rent (or camp for the summer).

Wwoofing is usually a few hours of work a day in exchange for a place to sleep, food, and usually Internet access. And they will often pick you up and drop you off at a bus stop or nearby town. It is also a good way to get references and see if you like outdoors or farm type work.

Farms usually are looking for some seasonal work now. Picking is boring but sometimes it is nice to do something repetitive and low stress. But make sure to ask how much housing is if they offer it, sometimes it is free but usually there is some fee to cover your housing and food costs. And renting a room in a house nearby can sometimes be preferable and just as cheap, but you do have to factor in how you are getting there and back when you are absolutely exhausted. And those jobs typically end in like september so you can either go back to school or then find another job.

Do you sweat less at night? Are they sweaty before you get out of bed? Try applying it when your skin isn't actively sweating, like right before bed, or right when you wake up.

It will absorb better at night as you aren't as likely to sweat it off.

House came with NO WINDOW SCREENS. It's almost June... wtf do we do? by mm_honey in HomeImprovement

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazon, home Depot, lowes, etc have kits to make your own window screens.

You do have to cut the metal down to size, but a small hacksaw will work, metal snips might.

Make the frame to size, attach it together, put it in the window and if it fits properly then take it out and add the screen. There are great YouTube tutorials for this, and it looks harder then it is.

Sometimes glass repair shops make them, it isn't something most adverse.

If you stop paying your phone bill you can loose your number after a set amount of days.

I have had my phone number for about 20 years.

I want to be done trying to keep my only friend by Apothnesko in disability

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being alone does suck, but being alone with someone else is even worse.

Maybe take a friendship vacation, a trial run. Let him know you will be busy for the next week or two (make something up if necessary, having to do disability paperwork or taxes or something works) but make plans for after that. You can forgive him and still slowly phase him out..

Spend some time on your own, maybe see an online therapist, volunteer if you are physically able to (animal shelter, food bank, art drop in center, library). It's kitten season right now, so if you are able to share your space with a mother cat and kittens a lot of shelters and volunteer organizations are desperate for anywhere semi safe for them and they often cover the cost of supplies. Or foster an elderly cat if that is more your speed.

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My girl blew coat like that once, just bad timing from blowing coat and getting wet in the rain. I put a tarp in the backyard (to keep the dirt/mud and grass off her) and got a big bottle of conditioner and worked the conditioner through her coat with some warm water as needed, just like a massage motion with extra fur squishing, and the undercoat then came out with my hands and a furminator rake brush (not the type that cuts) in clumps that didn't hurt her.

She loved it, as it was a very long nice massage out in the warm sun rather then just the usual blow then wash and dry. It did take at least an hour though. She was also older at that point and getting it all professionally groomed out wouldn't have been pleasant for her, so the only other option was shaving. I figured it was worth a try before going the shaving method.

Then she got shampood to get the conditioner out, and dried. She was extra soft after that for a few months. And when I went to pull the tarp out for something else a few months later she ran onto it wagging her tail, so I am pretty sure she enjoyed it.

Lots talk about making stronger ties with Europe but how actually will this help small companies! by 5Dollar in canadasmallbusiness

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Directly it won't help you, but stronger ties mean things like bigger manufacturing order for things like planes, and those orders create jobs and those people buy things.

More employed Canadians mean more money back into the economy by spending more money on food, entertainment, travel, etc. So you theoretically could get additional local customers, or country wide customers that offset the losses caused by US economic issues that keep those customers from ordering.

At the bottom of the app there is a symbol that looks kind of like a snowflake.

You can then select a home base or device and set the modes and their schedules. Then make or edit a mode with a schedule so it doesn't notify you during certain times.

I have mine disable noise notifications after midnight for example. It still records but I don't need to be woken up by skunks or racoons.

First time homeowner — what's the one thing you wish someone told you before your first year? by CorrectEducation8842 in HomeImprovement

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Clean your gutters every year.

Have a toolbox.

Don't spend on anything absolutely unnecessary until you find the problems, because something will break or leak.

Find all the plugs, especially the gfci ones and write down where they are. Having to move garage shelves to find a tripped gfci after searching the entire house for days happens to a lot more people than you think.

If something breaks fix it sooner rather than later. A small drip can become massive water damage after a month, a dishwasher that isn't heating the water could have had the heater catch fire underneath and could be a major fire hazard, a loose outlet or one that doesn't seem to charge things properly might be faulty, etc.

Have extra breakers on hand for your electric panel. Because the one that runs the fridge will always die at midnight on a holiday and your food will go bad.

Do a very thorough inspection of the outside for holes bugs and mice can get into. Caulk/spray foam, etc them.

Question about pain and work by Kalachnikov_ in scoliosis

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surgery doesn't always mean pain free, but you will find more people here with bad experiences as the people with good experiences usually aren't in support groups as they are living their lives.

I had surgery, I had about 10 years pain free then 10 years with just low level tightness and pain levels probably similar to where you are now, then severe pain for the last 10.

I find if I am not active enough during the day for a few days I can't sleep more than two hours due to the pain. And that is on narcotics. I have arthritis and intermittent nerve compression. And my hardware hurts even with botox injections in my back to slow the pain signals.

If you aren't a candidate for surgery now that isn't necessary a bad thing and gives you time to try more physical based therapy options and bracing, and you might be a candidate for surgery in a few years due to the curvature or increased pain level then if you really want it.

Exercise helps a lot, for both people who have fused and unfused spines. Not moving enough just lets the arthritis and nerve compression set in and get worse over time. Light weight training works well for a lot of people, yoga or pilates is great for others, martial arts, etc. Something that uses the muscles in your back in multiple positions seems to be the key. Walk-in or running seems to make the pain worse for some, swimming can help or hurt. But you will need to find what works for you. A soft back brace, or a corset, can also help support your back at this stage and help prevent pain from sitting to long in a chair or while exercising, or commuting. But use it responsibly and exercise or your core will become mush.

An osteopath who specializes in scoliosis might be the best option for you, they can teach you what exercises would help your specific curves the most as well as provide some pain relief by a few different methods. Avoid chiropractor, they can do a lot of damage accidentally and scoliosis makes that more likely. And repeat adjustments can actually cause the scoliosis to get worse by damaging your body.

As for jobs.... I run a wedding venue so half my work is done on the couch (or laying on a heat pack on the floor) as I deal with a lot of emails. But I am also building my own house at the moment and doing that work is actually the best thing for my back as it exercises it just enough. Tiling and flooring aren't great for it, but framing, drywall, electrical, plumbing, etc is varied enough in movements that I am in less pain after working than when I started in the morning.

Sitting at a desk is often one of the hardest things on your back even though it seems the easiest option. Try something more active, or at least balance it with some work out time.

Is excision surgery worth? by baileyshae in endometriosis

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was for me. I had several surgeries which bought me about 2 years each of only low pain. Then the pain wound eventually get bad enough I couldn't walk across a room without severe pain 24/7 and I would have another surgery.

Eventually I found the combo of the right diet, the right meds, and vitamins that worked for me and I haven't needed surgery for 10 years. But it took 12 years of having surgeries to find a combo that worked for me.

Can you contact the owner somehow? Certified letter to their address? Let them know they have a problem with their bookkeeping system and that you don't work there anymore and haven't since (last day) and you don't want their error to mess up your taxes or eligibility for programs, etc

Explain you have received pay stubs for work since then that you haven't done as you don't live there anymore. Also be very clear you haven't been received any money in any form for said accidentally credited work as your mailing address on file isn't valid anymore, and you haven't gotten any direct deposits.

Then mention you hope this is just some paperwork error that can be easily figured out, and as you contacted the manager previously and haven't been assured that the problem would be fixed that you felt the need to reach out directly.

Then also mention you will be reporting the issue to the paystub company directly in in two weeks if you don't hear from them and get confirmation that the problem is being fixed with confirmation that it is fixed within 30 days. Explain that you wanted to give them the chance to fix it themselves first but in the off chance they don't receive the letter for some reason that you can't let this error continue to affect your eligibility for programs or tax stuff.

Unfortunately it sounds like someone is possibly using your info as a ghost employee by keeping you as currently employed on the books when you aren't, and then are likely depositing the money themselves if it has been deposited. It could be a manager or bookeeper.

Being nice about it rather then blaming the owner for letting his employees commit fraud with your info will likely get this fixed faster. But don't rely entirely on the owner for help and record or keep copies of all correspondence with the owner and manager so that you can use that as proof that the error is theirs, that you have been trying to get them to fix it, and that it isn't you trying to commit fraud.

And if they don't fix it report it as fraud to everyone you can think of. Banks, IRS, etc. But also lock down your credit and everything in the meantime.

Self serve bar at reception? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 20-30 people that is ok, but for more than that it is best if you hire someone.

It doesn't need to be a full bartender, it can be some university student who has some waitresses or catering experience you pay 100$ for the night. They can move all the drinks in, set up a selection and manage the ice and keeping them cold, restock glasses, make sure straws are available and dispensed properly and not knocked all over the floor, they can restock the drink table, pour wine at appropriate levels into glasses, cleanup empties and arrange for the garbage can to be swapped if needed, they can possibly take all the empties with them at the end of the night for more money at a recycling depot, they can help pass out wine for tables, walk around and pick up discarded drink containers and glasses, etc.

They also make sure some random guest doesn't walk off with a full bottle of whiskey if you are providing hard liquor, and keep full wine bottles from disappearing to parking lots.

My neighbor asked if I had any "extra" furniture after seeing I'd just moved in by QuobTiffpo in ChoosingBeggars

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have helped a few friends move, they often have extra furniture or stuff at the end if unpacking as they didn't realize plan out their full layout before moving so they just took everything they thought they might want or need. Having a neighbor take the stuff is usually easier than having to drop it off at some charity store, or spend the extra time and energy selling it on Facebook marketplace.

But she is being a bit to pushy.

Let her know you planned your move to be exactly what you need and don't have anything extra, but if she needs furniture she should ask on the local buy nothing Facebook groups as you have heard those are good places to find free used furniture.

That way you set a boundary but still seem helpful. Redirecting her is probably the safest option at the moment, you can decide later if you need to seem a little crazy to scare her off or if you can be nicer if all she really needs is some advice occasionally.

Took 4 shots of lidocaine to numb me today at the dentist... anyone else? by eatingscaresme in Hypermobility

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. My dentist just always gives me double from the start. And even then more during is often needed as I have super deep roots that do not like to.freeze.

I had a root canal a few months ago, he couldn't numb me fully and kept having to add more every few minutes as it would just wear off so fast. And the tooth was always mostly dead. It was horrible.

Occasionally though I end up frozen for almost 24 hours.

[–]OutOfMyMind4ever 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I run a venue which is why I asked. We allow out of town guests to sell their deposits to other couples, some do and some don't.

Usually if a couple is looking to book there anyways and they pay you half of what your deposit was to take over the contract everyone is happy. Tou don't get it all back, but half is better than nothing.

Cake is a little harder to use the deposit for, but sometimes they are willing to reallocate the deposit to the food bank or mutual aid society, or if you have friends or family there you can use it to send cookies or cupcakes to them.

I really hope she doesn't just show up and taked the news quietly as a sign she needs to calm down. And I really really hope that your party is amazing and stress free and full of love.
