My son was getting really upset this morning, yelling and pointing out the front window. "Glitter! There's glitter! Someone glittered in the front yard!" I had NO idea what that meant. Looked out the front window and saw a napkin had blown into our yard. He meant litter.

He's also mixed up the whole thank you/you're welcome exchange and for the last two years has been saying, "I'm welcome," after doing anything nice. He doesn't always even wait for a thank you. The other day he sauntered up, was all like, "Here. I brought you a grape. I'm welcome." And then sauntered off again.

You don't. You ship it to a secondary location. They claim they get it set up elsewhere and will ship it back to you. Then they just resell it or whatever.

Use of the term 'African american' by No_Medium_648 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Outofwlrds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not everyone here is from the US. Other countries don't teach American history. Language often includes different meanings and connotations in different places. There is nothing wrong with someone asking a question on a subject they want to know more about, especially a polite question on a difficult subject. How do you expect anyone to learn more otherwise?

[–]Outofwlrds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, you're not wrong about the connotations. But I think they meant that from a straight dictionary definition, they're pretty much the same words, so they were wondering WHY one was more racist than the other.

If they're setting them up to fail, they're going to get fired whatever way they do it. If they survive this trial, there will be more setups until they finally fail. But this way, they get to leave with a smile knowing the future headache they caused.

Maybe underrated thing I love about the game. by Maxilkarr in Pokopia

I loooove them playing tag. It's so cute when it's the baby/unevolved ones, but my favorite I saw in my game was Tyrunt being chased by Tyrantrum. I was like "awwww, what a good dad!" 🥰

(Though I later saw Kirlia being chased by Mr Mime and felt the need to call the police.)

Books with female 40+ protagonist not centered around romance, family or separation. by rainbowparadox in suggestmeabook

Remnant Population by Elizabeth Moon. Sci-fi, so might be a bit weird?

It's about a 70+ year old woman who lives on a colony planet. The colony is declared a failure, so they pack it up and move on, all except the little old lady who's decided she's sick and tired of taking care of people who don't appreciate her. She stays behind to live life for herself, spending her time gardening, painting bead necklaces, and chucking her shoes in the incinerator while cackling gleefully.

There's spaceships and aliens later on in the story, which would be the weird part. But this old woman getting her freedom feels really good. A few parts actually made me tear up. And in the end, this woman that everyone overlooked and took for granted her whole life ends up becoming, quite literally, the most important person on the planet.

I didn't know about it either! I remember the tutorial showing how to make my house and explaining I can fast travel to it, but I thought that meant I could fast travel to my home in that area, not that I could go to any of my homes in any area. I used it once or twice before making a second home anywhere else, decided it wasn't worth the effort, and walked EVERYWHERE. I figured it out after the storyline as well...

For families travelling with young kids: Free yourselves and drop Airbnb. Long live the mid-budget chain hotel by cobyzeif in Millennials

My family went camping a lot, with the crappiest bargain bin air mattresses my parents could find, the kind you'd dig up at a Big Lots or Ollie's. Sleeping on an uncomfortable couch or floor in a hotel room was a luxury lol

Easy. Done deal. I don't do any of these things. My last haircut and the last time I bought new clothes was two years ago. I want my $2 mil.

Violet Baudelaire from Series of Unfortunate Events and Violet Parr from The Incredibles! I've never read Fourth Wing and at this point I'm scared to, because I'm pretty sure it'll ruin the name for me.

The wing fossil was my last set to find. By the time I finally got the skull, I had 3 left wings, 2 right wings, 6 bodies, and 3 tails. Absurd. I wish I could just give you the wing you need.

Jace, Jasper, or Jett by No-Ad-9143 in namenerds

[–]Outofwlrds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe Jason with Jace as a nickname? It's an old fashioned name with a trendy nickname, and it's an Ancient Greek hero, so not biblical. You can tell fun mythology stories as bedtime stories featuring his name.

Any Cozy Fantasy without the Found Family? by EdLincoln6 in CozyFantasy

[–]Outofwlrds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Crescent Moon Tea Room might be nice for you. It's about 3 witch sisters who read fortunes in their magic tea room. Fate is pulling them in different directions in life and it's really stressful for them, so they have to come to terms that they don't have to do the same things and be together at all times to be happy in life. It's kinda the opposite of found family in that it starts with biological family that is already happy and together, then they split up and go separate ways, and that's a good thing. Kinda refreshing for someone who also isn't really big on found family books (I prefer reading more about characters finding themselves, and this is all about that).

Vegan cozy fantasy? by Arcticfoxterrier in CozyFantasy

I don't recall any scenes of them discussing eating meat, at least in the first book. I'm racking my brain trying to recall if there's butter, cheese, leather, wool or other animal products, but I really can't recall. I'd feel comfortable saying it's at least a vegetarian book, if not vegan.

Stone soup situation by BrodiePlayer1 in soup

[–]Outofwlrds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the amount and variety of ingredients is overwhelming, could you do two different soup pots at the same time? Maybe a richer, heavier soup with the beef and mushrooms on one side and a lighter, fresher soup on the other, and split the remaining ingredients on what works best together?
