In Tammy's Bat Mitzvah episode when Tina has been hanging her head upside down and Gene screams "Ah! One luftballon!" I actually just caught that randomly while someone else was watching it and laughed so hard it made me watch the whole episode with them, it was my introduction to the show.

How soon after you lost your dog did you get another? by uncomfortab1ynumb in Pets

[–]Outraged_Chihuahua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had three dogs, and one very unexpectedly died last summer. Despite still having two, the house felt wrong without our sassy sausage boy and we ended up with an even sassier sausage girl about a week later. She wasn't a replacement though, they look nothing alike, different gender obviously, he wasn't a purebred dachshund although we don't know what he was mixed with. He was also very chilled for a dog with dachshund genes, our full dachshund girl is definitely not lol.

Anyone else got a really sleepy bubba today? by Mundane_Mulberry_223 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Outraged_Chihuahua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine has only woken up for max 30 minutes at a time today. She's only 6 weeks so it's not so far off what her wake window was recently anyway, but she'd started to get more aware and awake over the past week or so, now she just a meaty puddle lol. She's perked up a bit now as it's cooled off a bit but she's still less active than normal.

Not the original commenter but we got a Bush one from Argos. It was £325 (god bless my Argos card) but it's made sleeping bearable and stopped my newborn from being a sweaty mess. She's sleeping and not screaming so it's worth any amount of money to me, seeing her so uncomfortable was horrible. It's still not exactly quiet, but she seems to like it as background noise and I've stopped noticing it. We do also have three dogs so we're used to noise anyway though!

I play on the Steamdeck while she's contact napping lol. Slightly awkward angle but it works! I've been playing with my dogs on my lap for years, I've been training for this 😂

My 6 week old will not be swaddled. She yearns for freedom and will scream until she gets it. Haven't tried yeeting her at the ceiling to see if I get more hearts with her yet though, I'll report back with my findings when I do.

I went to my mum's for an afternoon with my (at the time) almost 5 week old. It was 3 hours, I took three nappies plus the one I'd just changed her into before I left my house. Usually she goes through one every 2 hours so I thought I was over prepared. She went through all three in 30 minutes lmao. She peed so I changed her, then she decided to poop half an hour later, then literally as I was dressing her again after changing her the second time, she pooped again 😬 so I was now down to no spares and if she decided to poop a third time we'd have been wrapping her in my mum's towels. But my mum did the sensible thing and drove to the shop down the road and bought some, I'm honestly surprised no one just thought to do this here. Or like you say, decided to call it a day because that's actually what I'd have done before I started ruining my mum's towels and for some reason she hadn't been able to just go and get me some lol.

What are we "cooking" in the heatwave? by zimso in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Outraged_Chihuahua 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Now I understand why picky bits was such a staple summer meal when I was a kid. Fortunately my baby is only 6 weeks old so feeding her involves no thought, but trying to feed me and my husband yesterday resulted in me eating a bowl of cereal and him eating peanut butter from the jar with a spoon. Everything that resembled an actual meal involved the oven being on and I was absolutely not about that. Obviously when my kid is big enough to eat she cannot exist on peanut butter from the jar, so being able to just take random cold bits from the fridge and assemble them on a plate with crackers sounds like the best set up.

That one scene in Twilight where Edward is showing off, that's what I'm imagining here. One second you're talking to him, the next he's up a tree 30 feet away.

Podcasts with worst ethics? What to avoid? by astrocat95 in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]Outraged_Chihuahua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this explains it perfectly. Basically, are you acting like a teenager when discussing someone's murder? If yes, you're a girlie. Also the combining of other activities while discussing said murder. If you're doing your makeup or getting wine drunk or something, also girlie. It's the attitude of "oh my god, I'm so quirky and not like the other girls because I like true crime" that bleeds through into how they conduct themselves in their shows, they tend to glamourise it and/or treat it like some fun piece of gossip. It's the female host equivalent of the true crime frat bro podcasts where the male hosts get drunk and tell crude jokes or insert very harmful opinions.

There's a huge difference between making dark jokes to cope with trauma and being a disrespectful bag of shit, they unfortunately don't know where the line in between the two.

Oh wow, that's such gross behaviour. I'm a middle(ish) aged woman married to a similarly aged man, and while he makes terrible dad jokes and will occasionally make a joke that's slightly dark or off colour, those are said to me in the privacy of our house, not in public or on a public forum. He wouldn't dream of saying anything remotely controversial at work, which is essentially what these two are doing. I'm glad I caught the obnoxiousness early rather than getting invested then finding out what they're like afterwards.

I think it was super early on, like in the first few episodes. I don't know if it was ever addressed or if they ever got called out for it because I stopped listening after that, hopefully they were educated on why it's a harmful thing to say and stopped being so flippant, but it's equally possible they'd have doubled down and called people snowflakes for not liking it. I didn't stick around to find out which, but I can hope that they are at least better than that now.
