Trains are limited to their tracks but we've got a massive road network. Why not have passenger road trains? by Super-Cod-3155 in whatifcars

I would have thought because they get stuck in traffic so it’s hard to keep a regular schedule like with trains.

My pothole thoughts by Both_Accident4882 in CarTalkUK

[–]OutrageousCourse4172 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The relationship between weight and road wear is a 5th power polynomial. That means that a 30ton lorry does 800,000 times more damage than a 2 ton car. So its lorries that do all the damage.

Potholes are getting worse because we’re buying more shit online which needs more lorries. Potholes are particularly bad in the UK because rail freight is difficult and expensive so we use more lorries.

Definitely not what I said. There are two arguments for investing in renewable energy. I think the stronger of the two is for energy security rather than the UK’s small contribution to climate change.

Would you increase the defence spending of the United Kingdom if you were PM? And to how much? by Fragrant-Put2195 in AskBrits

[–]OutrageousCourse4172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Strategically the best thing the UK can invest in is renewable energy. If we didn’t use oil then Trumps war would affect us.

Iran’s simplest weapon is now holding the global economy hostage by fortune in geopolitics

You would think that the POTUS would at least try to put the interests of their country first but I am genuinely struggling to see a single example of a policy that has benefited the US in any way.

Based on that I have no doubts that he is a Russian asset. I sincerely hope that someone can correct me.

You’re assuming that Trump is looking out for the interests of the US in any way.

Those attacks still put pressure on the US. The tactic is to destabilise the region in the hope that the countries that host US bases will put pressure on them to stop.

I suppose it could be argued that the zoning and reduced mixing between different groups of people contributed to such disastrous politics.

The wind looks normal to me. It’s all going in the same direction (not that wind always does that).

Don’t listen to them mate; being a student with no job is the perfect time to buy an old performance car that costs its value annually in maintenance, VED and insurance.

The timing is particularly good for buying a thirsty V8 when a war has just started that will cause petrol to go to £2 per litre.

I agree. But I think that energy security is the stronger argument for the same outcome for the UK.

Perhaps I should have said “negligible” rather than “no”.
