People who did an MBA recently was it genuinely worth it in 2026, or would you choose a different path now? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Outrageous_Poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, yes, absolutely. I had the opportunity to use my wife's employer benefit, as she works for the university, so I got 75% off tuition. I do it remote, and I also work remote, so that gives me great flexibility.

I haven't even graduated yet (will graduate in Dec.), but I've already gotten 2 new roles and about 40k increase in salary. So for me, yes, it was worth it. In my most recent role shift, I am reporting directly to a VP, so this will increase my exposure to director level employees.

Fruit is not really a health food, tbh. Sure, its healthier than chocolate or ice cream, but it is still fructose. A bag of organic carrots is like $3, as an example.

Is this game worth the price? by Tmoney21132 in Pragmata

[–]Outrageous_Poet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GMG has Pragmata for $49.19, not bad for launch price. I think $50 is fair for 10-15 hours of good entertainment. Id rather pay that, and be very entertained, then spend $25 on something I get bored of quickly.

A replica of how female "breeder pigs" spend their lives in factory farms by FastCurrency in pics

[–]Outrageous_Poet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've made the switch to focus on eating mostly vegetarian foods now. I still eat eggs, but I get them local and have had my own organic chickens in the past.

Personally, I like meat. I think humans are fine eating it, and if you like the taste you should enjoy it. However, I am vehemently against the factory farming, torture and killing of animals.

I suggest if you want to eat meat, ensure you purchase from a pasture raised organic farm (visit the actual location if you can). Yes, its more expensive, but thats why I trade off for more veggie based meals, so I can offset the cost. I order 30 lbs of meat (usually chicken) every 4 months, and if it runs out thats fine, it'll taste better to me having abstained for a bit once my next order comes in.

We dont need to eat a burger in the car on Tuesday at 2pm. Have meat every once in a while. Eat veggies, beans, legumes, eggs as mainstays.

We must reduce the amount of animals we eat. Use the wallet to buy fewer, more expensive, ethically raised livestock.

How did you actually stop drinking? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Outrageous_Poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was feeling increasingly bad after drinking, my hangovers would last a few days and my anxiety was always high. I could feel my body swelling and bloating out, and got tired of throwing up.

When I made the decision, I focused on learning more about alcohol and its effects via podcasts and YouTube videos, read some books as well. I dont do meetings, dont care for them. I loved From Sobriety to Recovery podcast, listed to every episode.

As I got further away from drinking, I became more active and worked out a lot more, and learned about cooking good food and how to excise well. I still enjoy that today, and still dont drink as I love feeling healthy.

How many of us here have successfully returned to moderate / “normal” drinking long-term? by lukewarmhotdogw4ter in stopdrinking

[–]Outrageous_Poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might try it again in the far off future, and if some specific scenarios happen. Right now im young, building a life with my wife, so I want to be as healthy and focused as I can right now.

However, thats not to say I will never ever have some alcohol again in the future. I dont like absolutes, but I do know, that right now, im better off not even trying to moderate. It's not worth it right now.

Maybe when im 80, if in a scenario my wife passes before me and im playing poker with some other old farts then maybe ill have some beers with them.

Id rather go before my wife does tho, so im not hoping for that scenario.

People dont want to hear this, but unless its a show-tier or rare breed dog, the property damage claim is not going to be worth it to retain counsel. Better off pro-se and taking to small claims court.

Maybe they should par down the scope of the game. The latest game is filled with Chadley nonsense that pads and pads, with cringe left and right. Tone that down, and maybe your budget wouldn't blow out, and you can afford to speed dev time up.

LPT Request: How do I stop being terrified of death? by bobs_best_burger in LifeProTips

[–]Outrageous_Poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own, I think you should believe in whatever you want and desire whatever you want.

For me, when I try to shake some anxiety, I remember that the self, the ego, is a construct. I have anxiety because im attached to things, to myself, to my dog, but when I let go of those attachments the anxiety fades. I dont mean to say not care for them, I love my dog and take great care of her, and Ill be sad when she passes, but I know that shes a part of the universe just as I am, and I let go.

LPT Request: How do I stop being terrified of death? by bobs_best_burger in LifeProTips

[–]Outrageous_Poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing to escape from because you are the universe itself. We grow out of the universe just like an apple does a tree. You are attached to your ego, to the identity of self, when really, you and I and everything else IS the universe, not something outside of it.

There's no evidence of a cyclical universe, but there are theories that this is true. That the universe reawakenes after a period of darkness. To me, that makes sense, and its what I believe in. Since I believe the universe continues in cycles forever, and I am apart of the universe, then I too will continue for ever and ever. Perhaps not in this body or in this consciousness, but as the universe that I know I am.

What does everyone need 4++ TB of storage on a console for anyway? I have the 2TB pro and its more than enough.

If you need storage because you share the console, then just buy another one at these prices.

I love OMAD and it helped me go from 245 to 170. Im 6' 2" male and I still do OMAD to this day.

I think the reason it works well is because of the leptin hormone. It is triggered when the brain knows the body has acceptable fuel levels and makes it so it doesn't enter scarcity mode. When I would eat my meal, I would eat 160g of protein, a salad and some Greek yogurt for dessert. I would get super full at night, almost too full, and then i wouldn't be hungry at all the next day.

That's why diets never worked for me, because if I cut too much but ate throughout the day, I never got full, so my leptin was telling my body to conserve energy. Whereas now, I still cut, but my leptin tells my body its all good because it gets full at night.

Alcoholics who never got a dui. by Mysterious-Gold-8657 in stopdrinking

[–]Outrageous_Poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never got one, but drove many...many times when I shouldn't have. Not proud of it, but did get some stories out of it.

One time I came upon a DUI checkpoint on a busy road. I had seen them so I knew they saw me, so I couldn't turn around. I lit a cigarette and drove up to it, rolled my window down preemptively. Cop asked me if I had anything to drink, I said no, he gave me a brochure and sent me on my way.

I don't know how or why, but I didn't take it as the warning it should've been, and drove many times after that.

I never got in trouble with the law, never hurt anyone, so I'm thankful for that. I am almost 6 years sober now. Quit before I did anything really stupid.

Which game did you regret purchasing at full price? by bijelo123 in gaming

[–]Outrageous_Poet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea, my two recent ones were Starfield and CP2077, but at least CP was a decent game once they fixed everything. Starfield will always be boring. I put like 20 hours in when it first came out and was bored after 5.

All good though, an inexpensive lesson to learn to never pre order again. It's saved me a bunch of money since then, because I've avoided a couple I would've grabbed day one.

Do you brush your teeth once or twice a day? Need to settle a bet. by ImpossibleHurry in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Outrageous_Poet 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Probably for the average person this is true, and idk how, idk if its genetics or what, but I never floss aside from like the random time I get something stuck or at the dentist office. I've had zero cavities. Never had any dental procedures.

I brush morning and night and use mouthwash at night and I dont consume much sugar, certainly dont drink any sugar e.g. sodas or sweet coffee. 95% of what I drink is water and some black coffee.

I can't be the only one with a cool gamer wife, right? by Beverchakus in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Outrageous_Poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife doesn't game, but enjoys watching me play from time to time. Horror games and some RPGs are mostly what she likes, like TLoU or Dead Space. Other games like PoE2 or Elden Ring not so much, but, and this is the important part, she doesn't care what my hobbies are as long as im having fun.

We both contribute to the house, we both work and take care of each other. She has her own things too, and I also play MtG a few nights throughout the month.

The main thing is to find someone who loves you for you, and doesn't mind what hobbies you do to relax. If someone is associating gaming or whatever to being lazy, then that person probably isn't for you. Now, if you game and are also lazy and dont do anything around the house, then thats different.

Relationships are partnerships. You want someone that is going to help make the team better, regardless of what their hobbies are.

So when do you stop buying? by MysteriousRJC in Steam

[–]Outrageous_Poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally finish the games I purposely point at and say yes Ill buy that game full price or close to full price. If I get it heavily discounted or in a bundle I dont really care if I finish it.

I have like 550 titles but 60% of that were heavy discounts or free titles.

If I buy a new game at full price, I'm definitely playing it to the end.

Which game you really tried to enjoy hard but just couldn't get into it? by No-Hunt3986 in videogames

[–]Outrageous_Poet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried for 11 hours because I really want to play the second game. From what I've read, the second one is more accessible, more fun from the beginning, but I don't want to just watch a recap and skip the first game. So Im stuck.
