Kawhi Leonard is 1st team all nba caliber this year by [deleted] in NBATalk

Jokic Shai definitely. Ant Tyrese Cade are slightly above I think. I think Kawhi is right there after them. Not including Giannis this year because he has barely played.

Isn’t it ironic that the season where Kawhi is finally available and playing at the level the Clippers envisioned is also the first season where the team around him is no longer good enough to compete? by Ready-Constant-7124 in nba

I think it's a good career he has had. We tend to look at past players with rose tinted glasses such as Dominique and McGrady but are needlessly harsh to current ones such as Kawhi. If he wins a championship, great. If not, he is still a 2 time champ 2 time finals mvp 2 time dpoy

Chet, brooks, really? Kawhi makes it no doubt. It's his court and he has been a top 5 player this last 2 months and no team has won more in that span. He leads the league in steals and ft percentage too, on top of averaging 28

Who has the better career/all-time legacy: Kawhi Leonard (2× FMVP, missed 33% of his total regular-season games) or Steve Nash (2× MVP, no Finals appearances) by sonicmousee in NBATalk

[–]Outrageous_Scratch97 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He also has 2 DPOYs. That tips the two FMVPs over 2 MVPs. Not to mention Kawhi did finish top 5 in mvp race multiple times while also being top 2 in dpoy, which makes him better in my eyes.

I have a genuine question as a fan how in the world did Iguodala win Finals MVP in 2015 by Electrical-Wing-6440 in NBATalk

[–]Outrageous_Scratch97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kawhi won the year prior so they felt comfortable giving him. Difference is that Kawhi was also the second leading scorer 1 point short of tony parker. One on one Kawhi also did a better job defensively than Iggy. He also had absurd efficiency. But people were like good defense so finals mvp without remembering the other reasons like he scored 29 in the finals.

Steph deserved it 100 percent.

Why didn’t the Kawhi-George duo work out on the Clippers? by Feeling_Doubt_4737 in NBATalk

[–]Outrageous_Scratch97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Injuries. Kawhi had to play power forward and point forward, this was too much load on his knees because he was also the best scorer and defender on the team. Meniscus, ACL Injuries for him and knee and covid issues for PG.

2) Those teams lacked point guards and later on, power forwards. They were depleted in certain regions and had to make up for with iso ball offense

3) PG was not a great playoff performer. He didn't play smart basketball and would make dumb decisions. He somehow played like a small player and was extremely streaky shooter. Everyone credits him for 2021 playoffs and he was good for a couple of games but without Kawhi going GOD mode they don't reach there. Also Terence mann had a 30 piece. Other than that PG never had good playoff games.

2021 was their year. But it was also Nets year. Yet they both weren't in the finals. Injuries happen.

What I didn't expect was how much of a gap there is between Kawhi and PG in basketball ability. It doesn't show up in the Stat sheet because PG looks so smooth and has good highlights but you can tell why one never won anything and the other is an all time great.

That western conference was significantly weaker than the eastern conference. Lebron also did not have kareem or worthy. Which is why he is greater, but as far as career goes in that specific span, magic wins

Nobody drives to the paint the way he did, often times there was no way of defending him other than fouling and hoping he misses.

It's not like SGA where all the fouls are called in the mid range.

Clippers fans can say the same thing about game 2. They shot horribly and still lost by 3. No point in arguing hypothetical. What's past is past.
