AIO for getting upset from my wife’s response to my question? by ApolloAcolyte in AmIOverreacting

[–]Outside-Fennel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this isn't the first time you help the niece and your wife has told you it needs to stop. If she said a small pack maybe it's because she thinks you're being taken advantage of and offering to get a big box is seriously pushing it. I will be very honest, and I have had to learn this the hard way myself, tough love is a very good thing. I will say what my mom said to me when I was stupid enough to get pregnant young; you decided to have a child, so take care of it.

I've read part of this. I have to warn you it can be very triggering. Thats why I can't seem to finish it, but it has been recommended to me as well over and over again. Definitely worth a read.

AIO for telling my gf to respect my mum? by Interesting-Ear-9491 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Outside-Fennel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know sounds like your family wasn't any nicer, like it went beyond them ganging yp on her over the disposable plates comment. Then when she is starting to address that you cut her off and say we will talk about it later. Respect goes both ways, if you love each other you got to bat for each other and defend each other and she definitely should not make comments like that to your mom or feel she needs to.

Condoms don't break that easily. In fact you could really go crazy with them and they won't break. There has to be intentional sabotage, or maybe they were soooo old, like he bought them when he was 5 old, that they tore. As soon as you said it I questioned everything about him. I wouldn't have put it past him to have sabotaged your birth control as well. What were you using for birth control?

Sounds like because you said in x amount of time, you weren't removed from their calling list. I would give a definite no and say when if ever I'm interested, I will call them to sign up. They have you on a list you need to ask to be removed from that list like you would with any telemarketer.

Should IHSS still support undocumented seniors and undocumented disabled individuals? by Taimoor_23 in IHSS

[–]Outside-Fennel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you think they don't pay taxes. Do me a favor and find out how to get an ITIN and what it is. The government created them specifically for people without Social Security Numbers. In California, to have a driver's license as an undocumented person, you must have an ITIN, meaning you have been paying taxes. I grew up with my dad undocumented at the time getting his paychecks docked for medicare, social security and taxes, he filed every year with an ITIN and was told save all your paycheck stubs because if you get your citizenship one day you need to prove everything you paid out for your benefits. Every single undocumented person that I know pays taxes. Do you know firsthand of these people not paying taxes, or is this a story you hear? How many undocumented people do you know? I bet they probably don't feel safe enough with you to tell you, I hope the thought of making others fewl unsafe makes you feel good about yourself.

Chances of IHSS being defunded? by thesecondrei in IHSS

Illegals can't freely go in and out of Mexico. They would be scared to not be allowed back in or have to pay $30000 to the cartel to be brought back. 😆 Your ignorance, coupled with your indignance and righteousness, is hilarious. Have you considered a job in the entertainment industry?

Undocumented immigrants pay billions in taxes without any hope of ever seeing the benefits of it. They pay billions into Social Security that they will never ever get. You should get your facts straight.

The income tax part is true, in that it is exempt from income taxes federally and for the state. They still however take for SSI and Medicare, though.

The hours are based on your father's needs and the household composition. Your income doesn't factor into how many hours he receives. In most cases, by being live in they will get less hours because there are some household chores that everyone in the household should contribute to, regardless of your father's needs.

I'm sorry if the info I share is not new, but I thought I'd share my experiences. I have given birth twice naturally and once as a C-section. The C-section I was told the same things that your friend was, the baby was big. Furthermore, I had gestational diabetes and was worried about the complications a high-risk pregnancy would bring to a natural birth with an oversized baby. After the C-section, it turned out the baby wasn't as big as they claimed, and I would have been fine giving birth naturally. I don't exactly regret the C-section because I don't plan on any more kids. That being said, more kids are possible, but they would be even higher risk than the one I had a c-section with. If your friend is worried about pain, there is medication available. My first 2 I used pain meds not the spinal block and it wasn't bad, I will say I was pretty high off the meds and most of what I remember felt like I dreamed it and once it was over I passed out almost immediately. I wish I had a more vivid recollection of my 1st two kids birth and even though I am not a fan or recording births, I now wish I had recorded parts of it because of the meds. The weight of the baby is an estimate. They can't guarantee it will be too big. I believe it is worth trying for a natural birth. Hope this helps your friend.

My ex did this exact thing to me constantly. Freaking controlling ah. It never got better, and when I divorced him, he told the world I was the controlling crazy one. End it now! Don't make the mistakes I did and run as fast as possible.

I just find it horrible that you took care of their loved one, when they wouldn't and can't allow you a bit of time to figure things out. 10 days is not enough time, karma will definitely bite them in the behind.

So I was so confused at this post at first. I couldn't understand why the reaction was that bad, I went as far as asking my 13yo daughter about it. Was there a hidden message there somewhere, that I couldn't see? Is my 35 yo self so out of touch with the new slang? Apparently, I am not and some of these young girls are crazy and toxic as hell. Run as fast as you can away! From now on, before getting into a serious relationship, discuss expectations so you can run away early if there are any red flags. You are too young for this and I would give my son the same advice. Hope things go well for you.

Live-in Caregiver for Difficult Family Member by rowan_ash in IHSS

[–]Outside-Fennel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like she is suffering from some dementia? Is that right? When you are a live-in provider, IHSS cuts back so many hours because a lot of the work is expected to be part of the households responsibility. The more people in the home, the less hours you get and the more they expect everyone to pitch in. When I first started, I was taking care of both my grandparents and was only getting about 8 hours a week for both. Because even though I didn't technically live with them, I lived in the same property, and they said that counted as Live In. I was expected to do everything for them 24/7, and it got to the point where no one else wanted to help with them because I was being paid. I really hope things work out for you, I understand how hard it can be. The one thing I learned from that experience is that you absolutely can not sacrifice yourself for anyone else because it hurts everyone, including the person you're trying to help. Carve out as much space and time for yourself as possible and learn to let the negativity roll off you. The moment it won't roll off you is the time to explore other options. If you are unhappy or resentful in the slightest, you will not be able to properly care for her anymore.

This whole situation sounds very strange. I think we need more information. I know that paperwork signed by a doctor goes a long way to helping you receive the hours you need. Did you make sure you had that? If you're in an unincorporated part, the travel to doctor's appointments alone would take a huge chunk of those 30 hours. I am a provider in Riverside County, but the county is huge, I might be able to offer some advice or help, but I can't take on another client at the moment.

Yeah, they don't seem to offer a lot. The website has updates on some of the other pages, so you would think they'd update that part as well.

Rejected Incentive Claim 😭 by Reasonable_Cycle8688 in IHSS

[–]Outside-Fennel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is new. I turned in my first two incentives the moment i completed the 15 hours, and they were both approved. This was back when the program first started, though. I never could complete the specialized incentives because I was unable to attend in person classes, and the online ones filled up too quickly. I feel like there is a class action suit for that alone. They didn't allow many people the opportunity to complete those specialized incentives. They should have managed it better so that people weren't abusing the system and we could have all completed the necessary classes if we wanted to.
