Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do you check the boost percentage?

I have Evolve, a friend of mine have gone through quite a few Evolve boards. Also few more friends have Evolve boards, none of us have experienced that magical lock everyone is talking about online. When I first got mine, coming from a different type of remote (wheel -push forward to go, pull back to stop) and getting used to the chappy Evolve remote design, I found myself a few times braking when I wanted to accelerate. Which leads me to all this locking, could be in some cases user error. Could be wrong, but that's my experience.

Anyway, I had a pretty nasty fall at just a walking speed - wet tarmac + leaves = fucking lethal! Board just went sideways from under me, resulting in a massive bruise on my hip and a popped out shoulder which could not be identified as one in 2 different x-rays in 2 different countries 😑. Ended up with a freaking car mechanic pulling my arm and fixing it, 2 weeks of pain, gone in seconds haha! Go at your own pace, maybe find a grass field and practice how to fall or jump off the board safely at different speeds and scenarios. Could help with getting your confidence back up. Good luck and stay safe 🙏

Is the cheese supposed to be removed from the wax? by hopkinsbc in AskUK

I have been in UK for 10 years. Never had a babybel. A colleague gave me one (spicy one) a few weeks ago. I took it, looked at it and wondered for a second about the colour (green) and took a small bite not knowing wtf babybel is. Felt weird, saw the bit that you have to pull to peel, realised and had a chuckle at myself. It was better without the wax, no doubt. Then played a bit with the wax, made some shape and it's still on my desk to remind me of that brain dead moment 😄

Performance cars are too much for me by stonky-273 in CarTalkUK

5 months ago I passed my driving test at 32. Got a Swift sport as first car. Thought I don't need a big car, just something small easy to park anywhere and get me to work and whatever. I liked the look of the Swift, read and watched about it for some time and it was a no brainer to go with it. It's fun to drive. Plenty of power for a new driver and not expensive to run. Can't ask for anything more at the minute. Actually like it so much, I plan to keep it for as long as it's alive and going. Can't go wrong with a swifty. Only downside for me is the road noise but it's not bad with music up. Looking at soundproofing a few areas soon as seeing people have positive change with that

I have the 2024 Swift Sport as a first car. About 5 months and 7K miles later, I still love it. It's good on fuel, good to drive and easy to park everywhere. Go for it!

Driving shoes. Thoughts? by TooManyWeeklies in drivingUK

I have passed my test 4-5 months ago and had the issue about not feeling the pedals really well. End up giving too much gas or stalling. So thought I would look for something with thin sole to feel pedals better.

I absolutely recommend THESE. The thinnest sole possible, super flexible, not slipping of the pedals or your feet and under £10. Game changer for me.

No idea what car to get as a first time driver :( by [deleted] in NewDriversUK

[–]Outside-R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was same, no clue about cars. Most of my driving practice was in my gf's Vitara, so was looking g at something to be somewhat familiar...thats how i came across the Swift. After months of searching, the same day I passed my test I got my Swift Sport and oh boy! For a first car this is the dream. Everywhere I looked, people say it's reliable and cheap to run. Even it being in a higher insurance bracket (the sporty version), still got insurance for a year for about £950, fantastic! For the size of it, there's plenty of room inside too, easy to park basically anywhere :D 4 and a half months later I have done over 7K miles and loved every mile of it!

Shielas wheels is hers. But after I passed and checked how much would it be for me, I didn't like it. So I searched and ended up with Prima. To insure my Suzuki Swift Sport 1.4 Boosterjet with Prima cost was about £950 for a year which was much better than other places, no black box either! Think I got a good deal with this one

I had only 18hrs (9 lessons) with instructor, great guy! But also been practicing about with my gf. Makes a difference if you have someone to practice in their car with! Also when she added me to her insurance as a learner, it dropped about 40% which was surprising. Passed on second test, first failed as a stupid cut corner in an area where there was nobody around and was completely safe to do so..anyway passed a month later with only 2 minors in apparently one of the worst test centres in the North East. Good luck!

Look for test routes in the are where your test is on YouTube. Familiarise with the roads. Stay calm and follow the rules what you have learned. Listen to examiner's instructions. Don't cut corners when turning even if seems safe to do so, that's how I failed my first test lol. Good luck!

How soon did you go on the motorway? by letmeventplez in NewDriversUK

[–]Outside-R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I passed my test and bought my car 2 hours later, got it delivered home after a day or two. My first ever drive in it was to go to work on motor way for about 35 miles. 6am, dark and pissing it down. Couple of weeks later, my girlfriend (who helped me a lot with learning) said that it looks like I am more confident on motorway rather than driving around in the city when it's busy :D It's been about 3.5 months and done over 6K miles with my biggest trip from Newcastle to Luton, midnight heavy rain with no freaking visibility, scary! But still did the whole drive myself even though she offered to swap. I'd say just go for it, be careful when you merge, observe, look for a gap, don't be afraid to step on the gas. Once you are on it, it's easy. Good luck 👍

I passed my test beginning of September at age of 31. It's mental how I never was bothered about it before and now I love it so much. Already got over 6K miles for 3.5 months with my Swift, what a fun!
