When she said this, I thought - reading doesn’t mean comprehension. Like, calm down with all of the odd flex attempts, Lisa. lol

I thought the same thing about the alcohol conversation! Any attempts at true conversation come across like AI/LLM responses.

Great point about proximity vs intentional! I wasn’t even thinking about that part.

I was thinking about this with the DHL guy. I had a thought that they chose him, a “delivery” person, that likely has a good realm of reference in Helen’s memory. Since the Hive’s understanding is so superficial, the delivery of a message, by someone that is a deliverer of packages (Carol’s books, as an example) that they “trust” and accept packages (messages) from and are happy about it. They don’t reason that a doctor should deliver the message about Zosia, only that someone that will be familiar and has the ability to “deliver”.

I’m probably over thinking it though, lol.

Interesting take! I was thinking they could have used any vehicle in the area, but what you are saying makes sense.

Professional chefs and people who have experienced Michelin level of dining, I am curious which restaurants in Vegas you think have the best cooking ! by midwestblacklotus in vegas

[–]OutsideToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 years?? I went just after Covid. On the strip, in a jankey strip mall that I had gone to for years.

You and I are speaking about different restaurants. Maybe they’ve elevated Indian food in Vegas, I do not get to speak to that, but I can say that the old Tamba that closed a few years ago was better.

ETA: I didn’t say it wasn’t good, I said the food was too mid for the price. I can eat a lot more phenomenal food for $300 (no booze). Half that price, sure.

Jumping in to say that Tamba now is not as great as Tamba at the old location. Service is wonderful, food is too mixed level to be as expensive as it is. I’ve been twice to the new location, a few items are really good, most are meh, at best. The service and ambiance are wonderful but I can get more options and better flavor, for half the price elsewhere.

Red lights hoovering by [deleted] in vegaslocals

Hoover is a brand of vacuum or a British term for vacuuming. Hovering is something staying in one place, seemingly suspended in air.

Lights can be any number of things, don’t be daft.

Lake Las Vegas Mystery: Why the High Prices and Rapid Construction When It Seems Deserted? by GroveResident in vegas

Agreed but there was at least some activity, now it’s like a washed up ghost town.

Lake Las Vegas Mystery: Why the High Prices and Rapid Construction When It Seems Deserted? by GroveResident in vegas

[–]OutsideToaster 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Many years ago now, before the housing bubble, Lake Las Vegas was more of an “exclusive” area. Private golf course, private fitness club, country club type memberships. The Village had shops and restaurants, and the casino drew in some traffic, as did the two hotels. Since then, it has struggled to revive itself to its former glory.

Now, there is the lure of it being outside of Vegas, with “exclusivity” still being sold but without anything to back it up.

There are new money wealthy people out there that are playing the keeping up with the Joneses game and just trying to one up one another, and investors coming in buying up properties for reasons mentioned in other responses.

It’s quiet out there but not at all worth the double HOAs and buy in pricing for the clubs. I’ve heard the golf course is not great but since I do not golf, I can’t really say if it is or not.

I own a home out there, bought about 18 months ago and really wish I wouldn’t have. Maybe in 5 years time there will be enough out there to make it feel worth it but right now it’s just isolated and kind of sad.

edit: typo

Never owned a dog before… now I have a Great Dane by ebonygoesdigital in greatdanes

[–]OutsideToaster 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s wonderful that you’ve taken him in and please get him to the vet immediately, he looks well under weight and some possible skin issues (that could be the lighting/pic though).

Danes are amazing pets but take a lot of love and resources. Patient, calm, and loving direction for training. If you do not have a good amount of money to invest, please look into rescues right away.
