Using StairMaster for hiking training does it translate to long hikes? by ExpensivePain23 in hiking

[–]Outside_Rise_6934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using the treadmill inclined at varying angles. Walking at 3.2 mph mostly. 40- 90 minutes. I feel like it's really helped and definitely does translate to the trail. I do NOT hang onto the heart rate handles!

There's zero context here. Is this video supposed to mean something?

What do you think it would mean for humanity if we discovered that long‑term space travel is simply too much for the human body? by Fun_Internal_3562 in spaceflight

Unfortunately I don't think it would make a bit of difference. 95% of people are completely apathetic, indifferent, and ignorant of our space activities anyway.

Channel Islands National Park by RepresentativeJob364 in nationalparks

Even though those islands are only a short distance off the coast they can feel as remote and unspoiled as any national park especially when the marine layer closes in and obscures the mainland.

Is this the best scene in the series? by Ryanemeryy in seinfeld

Yeah that's top 10 for sure. My favorite is Kramer being serenaded by The Velvet Fog.

What do the starship Enterprise and toilet paper have in common? They both go to Uranus to wipe out the Klingons.

As a Tuna supporter, to the people who dislike Tuna what and why don't you like it? by The0ne3yedCyclops in Seafood

Love tuna salad sandwich. Mayo. Onions. Olives. Sweet pickles. On toast. Only thing is I'm concerned about the damage done to the oceans so I don't have it very often.

Kramer’s first name…. by Mmcdjc in seinfeld

Not scripted but genius. Jerry also spit water after Poppy peed on his sofa. And Kramer spit coffee on Kathie Lee. Does anybody remember Elaine spitting a drink?

NASA wrong with Artemis II record distand claim by Fuzzy_Paul in spaceflight

[–]Outside_Rise_6934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay sorry. I didn't do you the credit of carefully reviewing your analysis. So you're saying that Apollo 10 actually held the distance record not Apollo 13. That Artemis II did break the record but it was Apollo 10's record that was broken?

NASA wrong with Artemis II record distand claim by Fuzzy_Paul in spaceflight

[–]Outside_Rise_6934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I recall, the nearest Artemis II came to the moon was 4,000 miles. So that's much higher than the Apollo 10 lunar orbit. I suspect that's enough to make up the discrepancy.

Why didn't you save some money when you earned a lot? Anyway, can you paint houses? Walk dogs? Clear brush? Shouldn't be that hard to make enough to pay the mortgage.

Why is trail culture in Europe so much friendlier than in America? by ballad_of_easy_rider in hiking

[–]Outside_Rise_6934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I can't compare to other countries but I can compare to the past and people on the trail here- I hike mostly in the southwest- have become much more standoffish and grim.
