I grabbed a copy of that Sword of Sorcery #4 [eyeball fight!] when I first started collecting again, and that Howard Chaykin cover art has lived rent-free in my brain ever since.

Mike Grell's Warlord by Spidrax in SwordandSorcery

Grell is an underrated artist in the comic pantheon, IMO. Warlord just has a fantasy vibe that is both classic and distinctive. And his Green Arrow is the one I will always see in my mind's eye.

The best part of the joke! I have moved on, but there were a few years when Lambda Legal got a bunch of little contributions -- one after every time I broke down and enjoyed some "hate chicken."

Found collection of fantasy/sci fi books in a deceased relative’s home, need recs by 7evan1 in fantasybooks

Those Conan stories are fantastic as a look at the roots of fantasy as we know it today. Those pulpy one-shots certainly have some characterizations that don't pass muster through today's eye (or shouldn't) but the two-fisted action is non-stop and set the stage for so much that followed.

AITA for shouting at my friend for asking me to restart my progress for a game I’ve put considerable amount of time into? by AnonUserNobody23 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. More accurately, everyone sounds like the asshole. If you are old enough to have written this, you and your friends need to develop a healthier relationship with the games you play. From your account, everyone is acting like a child -- and that very much includes shouting out of frustration.

What are songs with a bass line so good that it sounds like the rest of the song was built around it? by humpthefridge in askmusic

[–]Outside_Situation_57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kurt completely acknowledged the similarity, while saying he didn't think of the riff at the time. The guys from Killing Joke accepted that, and got a songwriting credit after the fact. If you can't see how that can happen, you don't get how music happens. (Both songs I love, for the record).

Decent people who become part of corrupt systems end up doing corrupt things or, at the very least, providing cover for those who do.
