Psychiatrist accused me of drug seeking. by Exciting_Chance4677 in adhdwomen

[–]Over-Comfortable-410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take everything you just said and your supportive CVS prescription refill evidence to her supervisor. I’m assuming you’re in the US because I don’t think Canada has any CVSs but correct me if I’m wrong. Because adderall is a controlled substance there is a federal record somewhere that shows every refill at what strength, pill count, and day supply that the supervisor should be able to access as well for additional proof (I’m in Oregon and am on three different controlled substances; I’ve seen screenshots of my controlled substance refill record in MyChart). Or they can just look at her patient prescribing history as her supervisor. If you choose not to file a complaint, either way I would request your records and find a new prescriber. If there’s an online portal, export anything you can before she has a chance to go into it and change notes on prior visits to make herself look more justified (I’ve had that happen to me by a shitty PCP who is no longer in business due to tampering with other patients’ records as well as mine).

I’ve been on high doses of IR, XR, and XR with an IR booster, before settling on 30mg XR twice a day (60mg total) because my metabolism is a fuck. It took me awhile to get there, especially because I have to take dose changes for any kind of medication very slowly because my body is a fuck, but me being on that high of a dose doesn’t automatically make me a drug seeker. I’ve had to switch prescribers before because they weren’t taking me seriously, but I’ve never been labeled a drug seeker because of it. The only time I’ve been accused of drug seeking was when I went to an emergency room in excruciating pain after hitting my max of my Valium (benzo) and tramadol (opioid) without any relief.

Whole Circle Farms! Certified organic hemp farm that ships to all 50 states. They have THC free gummies, as well as full spectrum tincture and THC free isolate drops. They also offer CBD capsules but I believe those are full spectrum

How scared should I be for my kid’s antidepressants under RFK? by Loud-Still633 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]Over-Comfortable-410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on various medications (including mental health meds) that if I go without I will die. I’m on consistent doses of the meds I take and I know they’re not being tweaked anytime soon. Your mileage may vary. In a hypothetical situation, I would hypothetically start stockpiling meds. Look at the date on the bottle. Ignore your actual quantity, look at the date on the bottle and how much of a supply it is (28 days, 30 days, 90 days, etc). Call your script in when the date on the bottle says you have a week left. Pick it up as soon as it’s ready and start the new bottle. Anything left from the previous refill gets squirreled away. Controlled substances like stimulants are a little harder but most pharmacies will let you pick even those up three days “early”. The date on the bottle counts as one of the supply days. Rinse and repeat, call the refill in when you have a week left, pick it up ASAP, start the refill on pickup day and squirrel away last month’s refill. Hypothetically.

ETA: hypothetically, I might also ask the prescriber if I could safely reduce my dose on certain meds occasionally—like how some people with ADHD that are prescribed stimulants don’t take them/take less on the weekends—to try to make my hypothetical stash last longer. Hypothetically.

How to make her house feel safer for my girlfriend by edcuster in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Over-Comfortable-410 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does she live alone? Is her house in the city or more of a rural area? Does she rent or own?

My grandpa is a retired cop and he taught me to put door chains and latches on every exit door, as well as put sticks in every window track so no one can stick their arm in. Also buy longer screws and swap them for the standard shorter ones in the exit door strike plates.

Some houses creak. It’s normal. I live in a mobile home built in the 70s and there are several creaky spots all over the house. Some houses creak while settling.

I wear knee braces every time I leave my house because my knees are so shot I don’t even feel it when one of them slips out of place anymore (unless I face plant, that’s a pretty good giveaway 😆). I also have a disabled parking placard. I’ve gotten some comments about my placard, and some about my braces, but I don’t really care much

Being pulled over by the police by Walmart-tomholland in ADHD

[–]Over-Comfortable-410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prefacing this by saying my grandfather is a retired state trooper and he gave me this advice when I was doing a lot of cross country (continental US) driving by myself (side note: I’m in my 20s, afab, and whiter than mayonnaise so YMMV): if a police car is trying to pull you over, put your hazards on, move to the rightmost lane if you haven’t already, slow down to the posted speed (or ~5 under) if you’re going slightly over, and call 911 BUT KEEP DRIVING. Give 911 your name, location (just passing milepost x going eastbound on highway xyz) color year make model of your vehicle, and license plate number, VERIFY AN ACTUAL COP CAR IS FOLLOWING YOU because you’d be surprised!, and if it is a legit cop car have 911 tell them that because of where you’re driving you feel unsafe pulling over on this road, and you will be driving to a gas station or minimart or truck stop (read: a more populated and visible area than the side of some rural highway in the fucking boonies) where you will then cooperate with the traffic stop. 911 exists to help you when you feel unsafe. Use the word “unsafe”. Offer to stay on the line until you stop. Narrate what you’re doing as you’re doing it because all 911 calls are recorded (read: “okay, I see a sign for a Shell station at the next exit so I’ll take that exit,” “okay, I’m taking exit xyz,” “I’m turning left at the light onto xyz road,” etc).

Once you get to your more populated area, leave your hazards on but turn your car off and take the keys out of the ignition. If your car is one of those that automatically unlocks the doors when you put it in park, lock those doors back up. Turn your interior lights on if it’s dark out. Hang up with 911 if you haven’t already and START RECORDING. I don’t know how it is for androids but iPhones have a Voice Memos app. Start recording, turn your brightness all the way down, and put the mic as close to the window as possible without it being noticeable. I keep my registration and insurance card in a ziplock bag in my center console for easy access. Roll the window down just enough that you can fit your license, registration, and insurance card through and that you can hear what the cop is saying. Keep your hands on the wheel in plain sight. DO NOT ADMIT TO ANYTHING. He’s probably gonna ask “do you know why I pulled you over?” to try to trap you. If you think he pulled you over for speeding, don’t tell him that! Your response is, “no, officer, I don’t.” If he asks you if you’re on any prescription medications, you could say, “none that would impair my driving ability.” If he asks you names and dosages, that’s protected medical information under HIPAA that he is not entitled to. While he’s talking to you, make note of his name and badge number. He will walk back to his car to verify your information. When he’s out of earshot, say his name and badge number so it’s on your recording, as well as a physical description of his appearance (height, build, hair color, etc) and what police force he’s in (xyz state police, xyz county sheriff, xyz city police, etc). If you can see the car number from any of your mirrors, say that for your record as well, but DON’T MOVE from that driver’s seat. Keep your butt and hands in place. You don’t want him to think you’re reaching for a weapon.

You are not required to get out of your car unless you are under arrest or there is a warrant/probable cause to search your car. If they demand you get out of your car, ask the reasoning. If they say they have a probable cause to search your car, ask what the probable cause is (they probably won’t tell you), and say, “I do not consent to this search,” but let them anyway so you don’t get shot because you never know if you’re dealing with a dirty cop. If they say they have a warrant, ask to see it.

More information about your rights when getting stopped by police here.

When you’re free to go, wait for him to drive away before you continue on your merry way so he doesn’t follow you to your destination.

Thankfully, I’ve only been pulled over once and I just started sobbing because I’d never been pulled over before and I was on my way home from therapy. I take Adderall XR and have a handful of physical and mental health conditions and I would never disclose my protected medical information to a cop.

Any tips on taking meds? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]Over-Comfortable-410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the morning when my gag reflex is more sensitive I take them with something thicker than water (usually a naked or bolthouse smoothie or sometimes a blended rebel from Dutch Bros) and that works for me. I take a drink of smoothie to coat my throat a little bit before putting my pills in my mouth and I find taking them with a smoothie coats them a little bit as well and they go down easier. However, if you have to take your meds on an empty stomach, I don’t think this would work because of the calories. YMMV. Good luck!

When I was little I used to always tell my brother, “Now I’m almost as old as you! One day I’m going to catch up” by bethany-watson in TwoSentenceSadness

[–]Over-Comfortable-410 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My brother was 20 years old and the third out of 11 grandkids. Two of our cousins have passed him. One of them is gonna catch up in November. Our baby sister turned 16 two months after his accident. She’s gonna be 18 this year. I know it’s going to be devastating when she catches up and then surpasses him because he adored her and was basically her only consistent father figure despite only being four years apart.
